The west is going to be an absolute bloodbath this year and while bored at work yesterday I decided to try to predict how the western playoff picture will turn out.
In my eyes there are 6 definite playoff teams: spurs, thunder, clippers, gsw, grizzlies, and rockets. I think there will only be a game or two separating each of these teams; however, if curry or bogut go down with an injury that could easily leave the warriors slipping to a 7 or 8th seed.
TWolves: With the additions of Kevin Martin and Corey Brewer and Love/Budinger coming back from injury, it should be interesting to see how this no defense, all offense roster works out for them. I think that if Love stays healthy for the season they could grab onto to the 8th seed
Blazers: I think I read on grandland that their starting 5 last year was one of the best in the league, but their bench was the worst. Well this offseason they really bolstered their bench with the additions of robin lopez, thomas robinson, Dorell Wright, CJ MCCollum, Allen Crabbe, and Mo Williams. With the further development of Lillard, I really think Portland has a shot at grabbing the 7th seed.
Lakers: Really depends on when Kobe comes back and if Pau can reemerge as a premier big man in the league. However their bench looks to be rather terrible, and even if Kobe can come back early in the season and play at a high level I think their chances of makig the playoffs are slim.
Nuggets: Gained Hickson, Darrell Arthur, Randy Foye, and Nate "The Great" Robinson. Lost: Iggy, Koufos, and Corey Brewer. Their ability to grab the 8th seed really depends on when Gallinari returns and if Ty Lawson, Faried, and McGee can all add to their game.
Pelicans: With the addition of Jrue Holiday and Tyreke Evans to go along with Eric Gordon, Anthony Davis, Ryan Anderson, and Rivers, the Pelicans have solidified their place on my leaguepass list. If Gordon can stay healthy I think they take the 8th seed.
What do guys think?
