It all comes full circle. Reports are that the lakers will amnesty a player. One would think it would be Kobe to clear the 30 million off their books for them this season. And sign him to a lower, albeit big, deal next summer. Amnestied players cannot resign with the team that amnestied them for a full year. So considering Kobe will more than likely sit the season out it would work and make sense from a basketball stand point. But thats not whats going on in laker land. Reports are that they will amnesty everyone's favorite guy with a weird name former bull Metta World Peace. Assuming he passes all the way through the waiver process and becomes a unrestricted free agent. It has also been reported that he would be interested in joining 4 teams, the Bulls being one of them. So if he becomes a UFA, supposedly if he is claimed by a small market team he will retire. He could come to the bulls as a minimum player. And to be honest I would do it.
Think about it, he would be cheap. I know the bulls are over the cap but they could use the Korver TPE to sign MWP, or rock the veterans minimum exception to fit him in.
He can play the 3 and 4, can handle the ball decently. Can get you some points of the bench, is a solid rebounder, not horrible from behind the line and is still a great defender. He would fit nicely into the second unit. Him-and Taj playing the 4 and 5 with dunleavy at 3 thats some nice height as well. I think if this is true it would make too much sense to get him. Also you could even work him and Dunleavy into a platoon starting role if you wanted to move Deng+charlotte pick+Marotic's rights to get your self another superstar or at least very good player.
Thoughts? PS I know he is crazy, but again if he is a UFA he will llikely sign for the Vets minimum, so a solid rotational player, who could help at multiple spots for cheap and is already a very good defender? Makes sense.
