Hey guys, I'm a lifelong Blazers fan here and of course I saw you guys beat us for the crown back in 1991 when MJ was still gracing the court with a true god of basketball. I also felt a kinship with Chicago when we got Scottie Pippen after he left Chi town and he helped lead us to within one heartbreaking (Rigged according to Donaghy) quarter from a certain Finals blowout of the Pacers back in 2000. I loved Derrick Rose's game and was wishing Portland had been able to bring Rose to the Rose city the year you guys got the #1 pick.
I also coveted Thibs when I heard he was looking for a head coaching job and I kept posting how he would be ideal in Portland. Then Chicago scooped him up and Thibs turned out even better than I imagined. While I sometimes don't like the costant fouling, can't call em all, defense. You have to respect the grit and determination of this Thibs lead team. I rooted for you guys versus Miami last year and gave a standing ovation both when you snapped the Heat's win streak and also during your sole playoff win against the Miami floppers. I respect the crud out of your team and the Chicago Way of playing this game. Intensity, commitment to defense, effort and no flopping little bs.
I was at the game last Friday with my 5 year old son and was pretty impressed with seeing the former MVP take it to the hole seemingly at will in transition. D. Rose's beautiful layin's high off the glass were a thing of grace and majesty. Portland was storming back in the 3rd when I notice Derrick Rose leave the court. I didn't know at the time he was injured. Chicago played gutsy and was up by 5 with 2 minutes to go. My boys in your mirror image White/Black/Red color scheme were able to pull it together and beat Chicago after being down a stunning 21 points in the second quarter. I was wondering why Thibs was resting Rose so much and figured his knee must be tired. After the game I learned the heartbreaking news that Rose had hurt his knee.
I just want to say from one fan to another with the deepest respect for your squad, that I know your pain. Probably no fanbase in the NBA better understands the heartbreak of losing a franchise altering #1 pick to knee injuries than Portland. I will say D. Rose can and will come back from this. The same couldn't be said for Oden or Roy. Be thankful for the MVP season and the incredible coach you have. I still think the bulls will be deadly next year and that Euro forward looks really promising (can't recall his name). D. Rose will be back and I think the Bulls have plenty of years left in their championship window as long as you have Noah and D. Rose on the team you will always be one piece away from representing the East. I actually thought you guys might beat the Heat this year. The franchise I would worry about is Indy, but you guys always play them tough. Anyways, much respect and much love to the fanbase. Be well guys it gets better!
