I know Luol has been playing better these last couple of games, but I'm still leery of the whole "let him play out the year, and resign him or let him walk" philosophy. He's making himself look like a valuable piece, to a young playoff contender, preferably out West somewhere. At the same time you lose that defense Lu brings to the table, and that sucks, no matter how much you believe in Jimmy Buckets (and I'm a believer), two lock down defenders is better than one, especially on the perimeter.
It would probably take two moves to actually make up for losing Lu, and I have them.
Knicks are trying to get rid of the Chicago native and I guess Denver came to their senses with that Manimal for Shumpert trade. The Bulls sweeten the pot with a 2015/16* 1st, and the Knicks have a PG to groom for the future and the Bulls have a defensive plus, 3 and D guy with some secondary ball handler capabilities.
*conditional on whether or not we get the CHAR pick in '15
Pelicans get a solid defensive presence to put next to Davis and a veteran, defensive presence at the SF, to help out Holliday, Evans, and Davis. Houston gets there stretch 4 to pair with Howard and a 1st in this year's draft. Bulls get a nice complement to DRose in the backcourt (when healthy) and a serviceable back up PF/C to add to the mix. He's better than Nazr. Adding a 2nd in this loaded draft may be beneficial, and you get a chance to recoup the 1st round pick you may lose in '15.
Playoff Fight Rotation:
PG DRose / Hinrich / James
SG Gordon / Shumpert
SF Buckets / Dunleavy
PF Boozer / Taj
C Noah / Smith / Nazr
