The Bulls offered Thibs a below market contract and gave their fans a below market off-season

And I've just about had it. Aggrey Sam is reporting that the Bulls have tried to low-ball Thibodeau, he of the COY award and the best record in the NBA the last two years running.

And although peers such as Oklahoma City head coach Scott Brooks, who played for Thibodeau and didn't have an extension after the Thunder's NBA Finals appearance, have received deals, the Bulls coach, who was offered and rejected a contract deemed to be under his market value, according to an individual with knowledge of the negotiations, publicly is unconcerned about the unresolved issue.

All of this coming on the heels of the Bulls doing their damnedest to gut the depth that helped lead to that top record in the league. CJ Watson? Released, and replaced by Reinsdorf favorite and inferior player, at this stage of his career, Kirk Hinrich. Ronnie Brewer? Gone. Presumably replaced by Jimmy Butler, a player with less than 400 career minutes at this level thus far. Kyle Korver? On his way out, likely for nothing besides saved dollars in Reinsdorf's pocket. Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that the Bulls are contemplating not matching the offer given to Omer Asik, arguably the best defensive center in the league save Dwight Howard, because they're worried about paying Taj Gibson.

This is, frankly, unacceptable behavior from the league champion in profits over the last 15 years. Bulls fans have been lining the wallet of the ownership group for a decade and a half since Michael Jordan hung up his $200 Nikes with sellout after sellout, despite some years where the product was frankly awful. Not once since its existence have the Bulls paid the luxury tax. Now, it appears they're allowing it to scare them out of keeping together one of the league's best teams. On top of that bit of cheapness, Reinsdorf's playing hardball with the best coach this franchise has seen since Phil Jackson. Frankly, as a fan, I've had it. I don't know that I'll be following this season very closely and I've begun re-evaluating the intensity of my Bulls fandom, as it just makes little sense to hope and hope for your team to round into a winner with it's ownership throwing up roadblocks at every turn. Screw you, Jerry Reinsdorf. Screw you so very much, you cheap jerk.
