Well, Derrick is out for the rest of the post-season, and I don't need to explain why that alters the Bull's chance of attaining their goal of a championship. Unlike Thibs I don't believe we have enough to win. Yesterday I was ready to check-out, and I was joking with my friends how I suddenly got my May and June back, but today I'm thinking I'll still stay tuned to the Bulls. The problem is I'm not sure what a realistic goal for the playoffs is.
Although I'd love if the Bulls somehow shock the world and win a title, I feel that is rather unreasonable. The one realistic dream I have that might materialize out of this nightmare would be meeting Boston in the second round, and utterly destroying them. The size of the Bulls dominating the Celtics, Kevin Garnett regressing to an infantile state in terms of both conduct and level of play. Rajon Rondo consistently being forced to win games and failing to make wide open shots and lay-ups. Luol Deng dominating Paul Pierce (though, I'd be fine if the Bulls just shut Deng down for the season and talked him into getting the surgery now rather than after the olympics). At least one Taj Gibson - Dwayne Wadesque tea bag dunk on KG by Taj or Noah. Most of this stems from a personal dislike of the Celtics and its players (as if you couldn't tell). But what would your viewing goals be? I still feel it is very reasonable to believe the Bulls can meet the Heat in the ECF, but it just got far more difficult.
With a championship seemingly unrealistic, what are your post-season goals for the playoffs?
