Staying put this season before the trade deadline would be a mistake for the Bulls. I doubt that GarPax makes a move before the deadline though. Their not going to land Dwight because for some strange reason he doesn't want to win in a great city with the best fan base. Other names have been speculated like Jamaal Crawford, Chris Kaman, and even Monta Ellis. I say we should make a play for Josh Smith. Yes he is boneheaded at times but he is a all-star caliber player who can jump out the building. We wouldn't have to give up much either. Boozer and our 1st in 2012 would suffice.
It makes sense for us because we get a better all round player who can stretch the floor, block shots, and is a monster in transition. He is athletic as all hell and would provide a match up problem for any team we play. Thibs could definitely work with Smith to improve the all around D on the Bulls. He also can create his own shot which we desperately need.
It works for ATL because they get a decent pop and shoot player who they could amnesty after the season. The Hawks have been in dire need of a true big man. The best in the game will be a FA after the season. With Hinrich coming off the books they could amnesty Boozer and make a play for Dwight who is from the area. It would be a long shot but sometimes you can sell hope.
I think it would propel us past the Heat especially if Smith plays to his full potential. Giving us another playmaker and with Mirotic coming over could help us build another dynasty.
What do you guys think?
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine. It works.
