Noah's a cool dude
Having said that, I got a real problem with the whole competitive eating freak show phenomenon. Making a commercialized spectacle of human beings eating as much as they possibly can even though they aren’t hungry is borderline insane. Even worse, it’s in such poor taste considering people in other parts of the world are lacking food or starving. How oblivious to one’s surroundings can people be? People are dying of starvation but this is somehow recreation, deemed a “sport.” The erosion of values, look no further than these adults stuffing themselves like pigs and the morons cheering them on as if they’re doing something great. Give me a fucking break. I don’t even give a shit that this isn’t the forum to bring this stuff up, this drives me nuts.
I'm getting too old for this shit...
you can't always think with guilt though man
We could ask the same question about basketball players. Why is Carlos Boozer getting paid 80 million dollars to scream and throw a rubber ball through a metal ring. Imagine how many people you could feed with that money?
It’s just not possible for everything to work out for everyone, some people love competitive eating and who are we to criticize it?

For real??
No offense, but I think you’re being waaaaay overly sensitive…….it’s competitive eating and with or without it there would be the same amount of people starving in the world. Maybe restaurants should have to observe strict portion control guidelines because some people don’t get enough food in some Sudanese cave somewhere. WHo is someone to order a double cheeseburger when a single is enough? Come on…..
Fun facts
A good amount of the starvation around the world is caused by the commodities market in the late 90s and 2000s vastly increasing the price of wheat. So you can blame wallstreet for this.
I'm not blaming any one thing, person or trend
All I’m saying is that I think competitive eating is in bad taste, considering that millions of people do, in fact, lack food.

I'm not coming from a place of guilt
and I’m definitely not perfect. But it’s not immoral to criticize things you feel are wrong. It’s not like I’m directly blaming competitive eaters for causing famine halfway across the globe. I just think it’s in bad taste and a generally unnecessary institution, as in, I don’t understand what it contributes to the world. If people find it entertaining to watch other people put pigs to shame then fine. Maybe basketball players are overpaid, maybe not, but the money they make and the taxes they pay end up back in the economy one way or another, and sports is a great equalizer for people of different backgrounds to come together. Not to mention the great talent. People stuffing their faces, while America is the most obese country in the world and millions of others don’t have enough to eat seems distorted to me. That’s all. Go Bulls.

Competitive eaters have to pay taxes on the money they win as well, not sure why you think its one sided
Even if your “winning” money you still have to pay taxes and if they don’t well good luck when they get audited. And Kobayashi is prolly in better shape than anyone of us.
Headbands not allowed
yeah i feel you
I’m not like calling you out or anything, i was just trying to say some people our there are huge fans of competitive eating. I don’t understand completely why but hey to each’s own
do you think they're eating for free? someone's paying for those hot dogs.
"Shame he’s such a goofy fuckface."
