Boozer 22 and 7 on 9-for-16 in 35 minutes, Noah 16 and 9 in 36, Deng 10 and 5 in 43 minutes, CJ shoots 8-for-23 from the field, bench shoots 6-for-23. Whose fault? Boozer’s, of course.

of course it was! he played badly!
his offense is one dimmensional, it does nothing to help others get shots, AND a rotting corpse could play better defense than him!
It’s all about the value you get for your money, and Boozer should not be getting the money we are paying for shitty efforts like that

it's not about value for money. we're not the ones paying. GarPaxDorf paid for the best PF available.
the money is gone and there’s no sense in complaining about his contract.
it don't mean a theng if you ain't got that deng
we invest by watching, by going to games, don't we?
His contract makes signing anyone else practically impossible. The Bulls signed him to be a 2nd scoring option, but he is our 3rd best scorer on his best day.

- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
Listen, we had cap space and our options were either Boozer, Amare, David Lee, or sit on cap space
We kind of had to sign Booz for the money. Yeah, he’s overpaid but so what. At least we didn’t get one of the other guys and Boozer is really not that bad. He’s the best of what our poor options were.
by TheHungarianJordan on Feb 12, 2012 5:20 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
That is true, but what matters now is that we may be handcuffed by salary. It prevents any other signings we may want to make
And I speak fearfully here. Efforts like today’s game won’t cut it. My problem with Booz is that he just isn’t consistent anywhere on the court. Sometimes he scores 25, sometimes 8. Sometimes he plays defense, others he looks like a cardboard cutout.
It is just frustrating.
And you are completely right. I spoke out of that frustration, but he gets exposed badly when he becomes our first offensive option
"There are two ways to argue with a woman, and neither of them work."
- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
His offense is one-dimensional?
Bullshit. He’s an extremely versatile scorer and a great passer. If anything, his problem is that he’s not good enough at any one thing to consistently create buckets.
Pat Riley is the devil.

"extremely versatile scorer and great passer"
I will admit he is a good passer and I wrote this when I was angry (I really have got to stop doing that) but the fact remains that he is not as good as many would hope he would be. His “versatile scoring” has been reduced to outside jumpers against elite defenders. Part of that is just age. It isn’t a huge deal. But my beef with Booz is the beef I have with Korver; either score better or play defense. Korver has done that. His D has improved. He used to be a liability in games where he didn’t score, but now he is holding his own out there on the defensive side of the court. Boozer has also had his good defensive games here and there, but not against good opponents. If he ain’t scoring, and he ain’t defending, he shouldn’t be out there.
My frustration with him goes beyond this game. He’s streaky on both ends of the court nowadays, and Bulls’ fans should expect consistently at the very least for a man making 7 figures per year. Your last point makes that argument and I agree 100%. Just remember that this thread comes after a Bulls’ loss which rarely happens these days. I, along with several others need to learn to shut up and mull over our words a bit more, but it probably won’t happen. Take everything with a grain of salt, ’kay?

"His "versatile scoring" has been reduced to outside jumpers against elite defenders"
Like I mentioned elsewhere, today he was able to consistently good inside shots against a pretty damn good defensive team.

And that was the only positive I saw from him today
But did you notice they never helped on him? They know he cannot beat them for a full 48 minutes. And he shouldn’t have to, to be honest. Especially with Rose healthy. Here comes that word I’ve used about 10 times already…it’s just frustrating.

if Booz scores a lot but balances out his impact with not just bad, but lazy defense and stupid, clumsy plays, I have a right to bitch.

I would make a comment here, but my powers of metaphor have
been preemptively dwarfed by your ability to categorize Boozer’s play as “causing chaos in a bad way.”
Well, you see...
Rose causes chaos for opposing teams, but Boozer causes Bulls’ fans to lose their minds, causes the team’s defense (much like an AIDS victim) to crumble, AND makes me sad.

You can’t have good chaos.
when it isn't directed at your team, it's good
when someone else is experencing chaos, you may benefit. Why are we arguing this, again? Oh right, because I made a shitty comparison just to see all the grief I’d get.

but you are the Carlos Boozer of analogies.
I think a big problem is exactly what Sam Smith wrote about
People see Boozer for his flaws instead of what he brings to the table.
He leads a comeback from 12 down when the game seems out of hand and people see ONE play, calling timeout when CJ was open down the sideline. Not to mention there’s not even a guarantee CJ was scoring on that play.

His lack of effort on defense is unforgivable.
Van Gundy correctly pointed out that a coach can not tolerate his type of lazy effort. He also caused several costly turnovers in the 2nd half. He was terrible today.
I think you're basing that off of JVG highlighting a couple plays when it happened to Booz...
Brew has done the same thing several times this year. Happens to everyone. I don’t think it’s a lack of hustle, he just can’t find his guy until he’s already sprinted past him.

No, he consistently backs away or turns away from contact when someone is driving the lane.
Today was worse than usual. I’m really not a Boozer basher and he probably takes more heat on this site than deserved but I thought he was God awful today on defense and clumsy in the paint.
I'm not gonna defend his poor defense, but it's not through a lack of hustle IMO, he just doesn't get it.
And the reason the Bulls lost this game wasn’t because of Boozer’s defense, especially considering the fact that he nearly single handedly carried the offensive load.

Most days I would agree it wasn't a lack of hustle
but when it’s so obvious to be correctly called out for it on national tv….
First of all, it's JVG....
Second, this is just my opinion, while it does look like he didn’t hustle on that play (I presume you’re talking about the one alley-oop), I think he was looking for his man (I believe it was Wilcox), turned around to find him, and then he sprinted right past him. Just my opinion.

^^this
and I think that even Boozer’s worst haters can agree that he’s trying. I never saw Boozer hold his head down and apologize to Jo last season, and it seems like he’s doing it all the time now. His defense, though still bad, is better than from last year’s atrocity.
I also like that his screaming has also improved. I suspect he must’ve practiced it diligently in the offseason while he was on that diet. My favorite play of the game: Boozer jumps for a rebound that ricochets in a weird direction off the rim, and well after the ball passes his outstretched arm he shouts “GIMME DAT SHIT” anyway, as if his screaming is magnetic and can somehow direct the ball back to him.
There are the guys who get you the need baskets," says Bulls reserve forward Brian Scalabrine, referring to the vital hoops that stop runs and close out games. "I have a different word for killers. Another thing
Boozer could easily have a LeBron attitude about all the hatred directed towards him and say FU, I’m doing my thing and I don’t care what anyone else has to say about it. He got his big payday, and could there’s really nothing stopping him from coasting for the rest of his career.
The fact of the matter is that Boozer is not doing any of this. He knows he was a disappointment last year, came to camp in incredible shape and a totally revamped body when others were eating their way out of the league, and has committed to trying to get better.
He doesn’t complain in the media, doesn’t use injury as an excuse, is a team first guy, and seems to legitimately care about doing whatever he can to help this team win.

Wow
You act like Boozer is doing us a favor or something. Man you Boozer apologist are on a roll. We’re trying to win a damn Championship. Who gives a damn about how he takes criticism? He’s not getting dogged by local and national media because he’s an unlikable guy. He’s getting dogged for a reason.
That reason is that he isn’t a great player when it matters. Just like I said the other day when Korver was getting his rocks off against the Hornets and crap teams while running from the ball and clanking when it matters. These guys need to show that they can play championship caliber basketball. If they can’t then it’s a flawed team.
Let’s get this straight for good.Boozer’s point production and rebounding will never make up for the mental errors and lack of defense he shows on the court against good teams. So I wish the Boozer protection agency would quit popping up every damn time he fills a stat sheet with decent numbers against average to bad competition. Every knows it, including him that he needs to step up.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

If you're expecting Boozer to perform perfectly on every play
You are always going to be disappointed in his production, or anyone else’s for that matter. To say that he will never be good enough for you, no matter how hard he tries, is telling. Everyone makes mistakes in every game. All you can ask is that players learn from their mistakes and try to get better, which is what Boozer is trying to do. The same is true of life.

Why do you guys keep making this a strawman argument?
No one said Boozer has to be perfect or that anyone expects everyone to be. Also this isn’t some vendetta against him. The guy is not a victim. It’s about what this Bulls team needs to win a title. Here you have a guy who only plays well against bums and even when doing that, is prone to make the type of mental errors that can lose games.
That play where he didn’t push the ball ahead to CJ was huge and did help lose the game. As a rebounder to knows damn well he needs to know where the outlet pass is or if there’s a chance to push the ball ahead for an easy bucket. He calls a timeout. He did the same crap in the playoffs with his dumb flagrant fouls.
This isn’t about life. It’s not that deep. It’s about putting the best team on the court to win a title. I honestly debate if this is a guy you can win a ring with.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
I was specifically referring to this in my reply:
Let’s get this straight for good.Boozer’s point production and rebounding will never make up for the mental errors and lack of defense he shows on the court against good teams.
Since I’m directly addressing something you wrote, I don’t think it’s a strawman argument, but I respect how you’d interpret it that way since I admit I was getting a bit deep there. Personally I do think lessons in sports are applicable to life, but that’s pretty OT and neither here nor there.
To clarify, the main point I was trying to make is that I believe that Boozer can and is improving. He certainly did made a mistake, but he did a lot of things right in that game too and he should get credit for the good and the bad.
I also believe that it matters that he is trying, and that he is actually improving too. That should not be overlooked. I HATED Boozer last year and was one of those fans screaming at him during that playoff run, but this year I can see that he’s different.
I disagree with writing him off completely as someone who simply can’t win, but that’s a matter of opinion in which I think that neither one of us can really say that we’re right or wrong.
There are the guys who get you the need baskets," says Bulls reserve forward Brian Scalabrine, referring to the vital hoops that stop runs and close out games. "I have a different word for killers. I'll give you this:
Your logic is impeccable.
These guys need to show that they can play championship caliber basketball. If they can’t then it’s a flawed team.
I still think Boozer can play a signficant role on a championship team. Maybe even this one.

It's not even that he's that bad defensively, he's just slow as all fuck
People need to realize this. The dude is limited physically. A lot of the times he’s not going for the block just because he knows he’ll get called for a foul. He’s not a great defender. This should not be news. He does ok because he’s a pretty good positional defender, and he’s a damn good defensive rebounder.
Offensively, there were stretched that he completely carried us. He brings a lot to the table. I totally understand why people want to criticize him at times, but I don’t understand why we constantly have to dwell on his shortcomings. As much as you might not want to believe it, there really aren’t that many power forwards in the league that are better than Carlos Boozer. It's like people forget he was a longshot 2nd round pick when he was drafted
and this was off a big time team at Duke! All the haters can see are the dollars and assume he’s spoiled or something. Boozer obviously had to work his butt off to get to where he is today. He has always had these limitations, most 2nd rounders do, but no matter what he does and how hard he works, he will always be criticized for what he is not.

ESPN's gonna herald Rondo's epic performance
But the majority of his points came only because the Bulls took long jumpers, missed, and Rondo got out in transition. In addition, most nba pg’s can torch a pg rotation of cj and JL3

Rondo had 32 points and 15 assists
Not all of that came in transition. Besides, a lot of what did come in transition was directly caused by Rondo himself. He was very active defensively and helped force a bunch of turnovers.

And am not shy about saying it! By the way this game falls on cj in my opinion. Paul pierce actually ended the game with less points than deng, as an indication of how the latter played defensively. Boozer played about as efficiently on offense as we could hope for and Noah gave us great energy. Cj scored a lot of points but took a lot of shots to get there and made some boneheaded decisions during the game, especially in the last few seconds.

that was a pretty weird play for Thibs to draw up
Maybe he felt like because the Bulls had no timeouts left, it was strategically worth it to go for the tie instead of being down one, and he wanted to leave as much time as possible for a second chance at winning in case the Bulls missed the shot.
The more time the Bulls take there, the worse position they put themselves in with no timeouts, regardless of if they score or not.
The thing that really killed the play was CJ’s foot being on the line though; it completed defeated the purpose of the play.

I watched the replay on NBA.com and I think my initial analysis was right
The Bulls had the ball with ~26 seconds and no timeouts left.
Assuming they take their time and go for 2, the Celtics have the ball with <24 seconds and a 1 point lead, so the Bulls have to foul.
But then what? The Celtics are likely to make two free throws and the lead is back to three, but the Bulls are in even worse shape than before because they have no timeout to draw up a play and have to hope for the best on a forced 3.
Even probably best case scenario the Celtics split their free throws, you’re scrambling to score two to tie (which you could’ve done anyway with CJ’s 3), and we all know the Bulls have no one that can create their own shot when DRose is out.
If the Bulls shoot a very quick 3 there, they are putting themselves in the best position to win the game outright given the situation in the game. In fact, they can tie there, have the Celtics miss while they try to run out the clock, and STILL have a chance to win with a few seconds left for their last possession.
It’s a terrible situation to be in any way you look at it, but you need a quick 3, Korver’s going to be guarded heavily in the first few seconds of that inbounds play, and CJ is your next best 3 point shooter.
He still totally messed up by toe-ing the line though. I bet Thibs was pissed.
There are the guys who get you the need baskets," says Bulls reserve forward Brian Scalabrine, referring to the vital hoops that stop runs and close out games. "I have a different word for killers. I'm gonna stop semi-trolling and just blame my frustration to losing to the Boston Martians
but yeah, the C’s are still a good defense. W/o Rose, no one can create their own shot. It was just annoying and we pick out Booz and CJ and all the others who played bad, but in reality, we know what our team is. Nothing today suprised me. We had been feasting on really poor competition so far without Rose, but facing an above average team, we are in trouble.
So whatever. Someone give Rose an ice pack and hopefully he’s ready in a few days.

Rondo obviously had the triple-double, and Garnett’s defense was simply spectacular. I hate both of those fuckers, but they came to play.

yeah, thats fine though,
i thought this game was going to be clsoe reagrdless…
They have the talent to be very good. Just most of that talent is old and they lack depth.
They can beat anyone, even the Bulls and Heat at full strength, in a single game. But they won’t win a lot of games during the season or beat the Bulls or Heat in a 7 game series.

Absolutely right.
And yet the Bulls lost only by 4 on the road without Rose. Boston earned the win without a doubt, but it also serves to remind me just how awesome this Bulls team is. Hell, if CJ just played an average game there’s a good chance the Bulls would have won it. So I feel pretty good.

yeah I'm actually not feeling too bad about this one
I do feel however that Cj made a selfish play at the end and that’s one thing I really dont like. I also think getting an offensive talent at the trade deadline would be nice.
and not to be a hater
But I kind of feel like Brewer doesn’t have much of a purpose on this team. I think Jimmy Butler basically takes care of his job and is better offensively. Maybe we could use him with a pick for an offensive player.
Brewer fits much better with the second team
he’s stuck with the 1st team until Rip gets back though

Not surprised or really disappointed by the loss, but a couple frustrating moments
1) Why didn’t Thibs sub in Noah before CJ’s 2nd free throw? He had done it with Deng at the line a minute before, and the team’s best chance at a win was a missed free throw and offensive rebound. Noah is an elite offensive rebounder who already had 4 in the game. It seemed like a glaring oversight at the time, and then CJ missed the free throw and the Bulls didn’t have anyone on the floor who could make a play to tip the ball.
2) The inbounds play creating CJ’s off-balanced non-3 was a team failure, but on the replay I was annoyed at how weakly Boozer tried to screen Pietrus. Following an afternoon of Garnett stepping out and laying his shoulder into Bulls on screens and blocking their path, Boozer stayed in the lane and just kinda moved his arm a bit, resulting in Pietrus not having to break stride to get out to CJ at the arc. With a decent screen, that’s probably an open look for the tie.
Considering that (a) it was the 9th game of a road trip, (b) the Bulls were shooting horribly, and © they were playing without Rose, the loss is understandable. It would’ve been a nice game to steal though.

Also disagree
There’s a lot of luck involved in who wins and loses in close games. We’re talking about a lot of games that are decided by <2 points. It’s variance. In these situations, coin flip plays like where a ball bounces or even a single call by a referee can completely change the outcome of the game.

I think it’s pretty clear that, when we’re entirely healthy, we’re as good or better than any team in the league.
Now, it might not matter because we we may just never get healthy, but it’s still a damn good roster, and we don’t have that much to complain about in that regard

I think its interesting how crappy CJ's defense becomes when hes asked to play 38 minutes
run an offense and score 20 points a game.

Well his detractors always said
that the reason he was touted as such a great defender was because he got to play against the other teams’s second stringer.
Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!
i think its more that his defense is so predicated on ball pressure, which is really hard to do over
38 minutes when you have to do so many other things as well.

I think if we had Mike James instead of John Lucas
CJ wouldn’t have needed to play 38 minutes. Lucas is just terrible. I defended him missing those free throws in Denver last year, but his play this year leads me to think he should be out of the league. He is a point guard who can’t pass. Seriously, whenever they run the pick and roll he just forces a shot. He never looks to pass or is unable to pass to the screener. His court vision for a point guard is atrocious.
maybe its just the good form on his jumper
I love Brewer and I know its not his fault he can’t keep his elbow straight, but it just makes him a complete liability. I’ve noticed he bulked up too. I dunno if its just me but he seems less athletic and as a defensive specialist that’s not good.

by Rose2RipKaboom! on Feb 12, 2012 7:22 PM CST via Android app reply actions
If boozer would just commit to anything on defense, our team defense would be so much better. Its like he finds this center space between almost committing to stepping up on the roller, but then he plays it off like he cant leave his man. And then he just stays in this space where he’s totally useless on help defense.
Bulls, Bears and White Sox, what!!!
by Rose2RipKaboom! on Feb 12, 2012 7:29 PM CST via Android app reply actions
If boozer was forced to switch off on defense like noah does. It would force Boozer to commit. I wouldnt mind if he just got beat one on one. It just hurts to see his help defense be so horrible. In a close game, if the opposing team needs a score they attack boozer with the pick and roll and it works everytime. Maybe having him switch and then allowing others to help would work. Him helping is becoming too big a liability.
Bulls, Bears and White Sox, what!!!

By the way, for all the hate Boozer's getting
I’m surprised nobody’s pointed out that if Taj makes just 2 of the 4 shots he missed within 3 feet of the hoop, we win.
Pat Riley is the devil.
If Booz would have put a hand up or closed out on any of the 25 baskets the Celtics rained on him, we would have won
that is a moot point. You win and lose as a team. Anyone could have made a play.
"There are two ways to argue with a woman, and neither of them work."
- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
Okay...
First of all, if you’re gonna go with the “you win and lose as a team” argument, you forfeit the right to criticize any individual player. You can’t have it both ways.
Also, attributing 25 baskets to Boozer’s defense is a gross exaggeration. Finally, it’s a lot easier to make a layup than it is to prevent one.
Pat Riley is the devil.

Okay...
perhaps I get a bit…all over the place (I AM an sports fan, after all) so let me clarify my stance.
1) I will call out any player for any extrordinary play, either good or bad. Boozer was extrordinarily bad on defense several times today, just like CJ was really bad with that shot with less than a minute to go. His offense was what we expect from him.
2) However, a win or loss can never be defined by one play in either direction, like you tried to attribute to Taj. Anyone could have made a play to win us that game, or to turn the game into a blowout.
3) This is Blogabull…exaggeration is our creed.
4) I would debate that last point. An OPEN layup is easier to make than to contest a layup, but a contested one (like the ones Taj shot, though he really should have hit them) is much more difficult.
"There are two ways to argue with a woman, and neither of them work."
- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
It wasn't 1 play with Taj, it was 4
Back to Boozer, today might’ve been Boozer’s best offensive performance all season, given that it was really the first time he had a great time against a truly great defensive team. Most importantly, he was consistently getting inside shots. I think that’s extremely encouraging given how much he’s settled for jumpshots this year.
Pat Riley is the devil.

It may be, and like I said down lower on this thread, we'll see, I guess
I like the guy, I really do. I just get frustrated by his inconsistent play and how much his salary handicaps the team. It’s the organizations fault for offering that much anyway, even though they were forced to.
I said the “ones” Taj shot, not one, but you get it.
"There are two ways to argue with a woman, and neither of them work."
- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
Another thing
11 of Boozer’s 16 shots came in the paint today. And the Celtics are as good a defensive team as there is. Say what you want about his defense, but you could’ve not have reasonably asked for a better performance offensively out of Boozer.
Pat Riley is the devil.
And only about 2 of those were actually his fault.

1) transition defense was terrible. everyone was a factor in this
2) deng being a nonfactor – i’m surprised he even got 12 shots up. it barely felt like he touched the ball.
3) that watson play down 3 with like 24 seconds left or whatever – one of the stupidest things i’ve ever seen.
4) rondo actually hit 10-13 FTs. on a normal day he would have hit 7. heh.
guys boozer was NOT to blame in this game. at all. our offense was working the best when we went through him, we needed it badly.

honestly not sure it was a worse game than the ones (including game 2 of the 09 playoffs) that i’ve seen them lose at the buzzer. those are really rough.
i’ve had a bit of a losing streak at the garden though. i think the last time i saw the bulls beat the celtics in person was when the celtics sucked. i’ve been to other games though at the UC that they’ve won since then at least. it just makes me want to go again when i can see a fully healthy team! dunno if i’ll be able to arrange that though.

No finger pointing.
There are plenty of fingers to be pointed for the lost of this game, but it was an overall team lost. Some players, such as Boozer and CJ, could not make plays down the stretch but I don’t blame them. Rondo let off the entire game going for a triple double. Where was Rose defense? The blame is so quick to be blamed on the roll players when the stars don’t hold up the their end of the bargin.
The Bulls will learn from this game and more people have to step up during crunch time.

Fortunately, we don’t need him to do that for the long term. He’s great for what he is; a combo guard who can run point for 8-12 minutes a game and play the 2 when teams try to trap Derrick.

cj has a tough job because hes not a real point guard
we should have a decent back up point guard who actually can run an offense.
cj is more of those SG in a PG body type players and thats why he struggles to make plays.
it really bothers me that we continue to waste away our draft picks on retarded guy instead of trying to fill out roster depth at positions we needed. (ex. SG or back PG)
LINSANITY!!
You are seriously a moron
This Lin thing of yours is just gonna get old, jut like the Melo crap. CJ has produced all season long. Lin has had what, four games? You can find some stretches of 4 games for CJ where he was damn good too.
Furthermore, as long as we are focusing on what CJ did in just today’s game (that’s right, today’s game still just counts for one), let’s focus on Lin’s last game. I don’t give a shit if the Knicks won, he played a garbage game. 8-24 for 20 points and 8 turnovers. Wow, ya he’s a awesome though. I have some evidence that CJ is better than Lin, what he’s produced has happened over the course of more than 4 goddamn games. We can’t even discuss Lin as a player yet because he has no experience. If the guy is doing this 20 games down the road, then absolutely, let’s give the guy all the credit in the world. It’s been a great stretch for him, but Jesus Christ CJ had one bad game at a bad time. Derrick dropped 4 shitty games last year against Miami and he is still fucking awesome. Drop the bits because you continually look stupid.

luckily we only have 5 games until then
including the celtics again and the hawks, but we almost beat the celtics today, i could see us able to pull it out at home, and the hawks well… you never know what you’re gonna get with those guys. and the other three, well we’ve already beaten 2 of them without derrick.

I'm fearful.....
….the specialist comes back with some really bad news. I’m trying to remain positive , but awaiting to hear the news tomorrow about what is said.
so he's seeing a specialist tomorrow?
i missed all the reporting cause i was actually there.
yikes. but i mean all this traveling can’t possibly help either. it’ll be good to get the guys home and him into some treatment where he doesn’t have to worry about being on a damn plane every other day. this’ll get his toe some rest too so maybe he won’t be compensating too much with his back once he returns.

yeah, sitting o nthe plane and then walking around hurts like shit
the injury i had was like that when i was an undergrad.
i had similar symptoms to rose when i strained my back and it took me 3-4 weeks to heal
wit hte medical care he will get, it would be 2-3 weeks
He drove, stopped and took a jumper right into the guy's hand
Wtf was he thinking?!

A lot of Boozer hate
And I’ve been hating on him this thread and the last thousand as well, but it really just boils down to this; he isn’t what we had hoped he would be when we signed him. He isn’t as good as his contract would make him seem.
He cannot be trusted to be a primetime offensice preformer when it counts. We have to go to Rose, Deng, or an open Korver for that.
Booz is what he is – a streaky shooter, a mediocre athlete who has problems that are difficult to hide on defense, but he can get hot and really help the team. His rebounding is a saving grace, and he does communicate and support his teammates well. Sometimes that can be all the difference. We’ll see, I guess.

- Carlos Boozer after cancelling an interview with a Sports Illustrated reporter because his wife was expecting him home.
Doug Thonus has been thinking Booz is maybe just Eddy Curry with defensive rebounding
keep him in and hope for early offense in halves, and if he doesn’t score sit him.
So no, not what they hoped to pay for. Worse yet I bet he’s amnestied not to improve the team but avoid the tax.

Honestly I used to have a lot more respect for Doug
but lately he’s been one of those guys that just throws his opinions out there without much evidence to back it up. I’d have to see exactly what he said, but my initial reaction is what the hell is he talking about?
Sam Smith wrote a highly rec-ed article about how Boozer is EXACTLY what the Bulls had hoped to pay for. Also I’m looking at their career numbers now, and none of the advanced metrics are similar at all.
To top it all off, Eddy Curry was a good player before he got paid and stopped trying. He admitted multiple times that he didn’t enjoy playing basketball, and essentially just did it for the money. He was a lottery pick who pissed away his career by not caring at all. Quite frankly, other than being low post scorers who shoot at a high percentage, a good thing I might add, I cant’ see the comparison between Boozer, who worked his ass off, and continues to do so, and Curry, who ate his ass off, at all.
There are the guys who get you the need baskets," says Bulls reserve forward Brian Scalabrine, referring to the vital hoops that stop runs and close out games. "I have a different word for killers. I call them mother-------. And right now, Derrick Rose is the baddest mother------ in the league by far. He is the reason we win.

Yeah no
Carlos Boozer’s basketball IQ is leagues above Eddy Curry’s. Curry never knew how to pass, how to properly set screens, and how to cut to the basket, all things that Boozer does extremely well.
Pat Riley is the devil.

That's a thought that makes you think
and then go, “Wait…Doug Thonus, that’s an inside thought, at least until you can back it up better”

I'll say this much,
if Rondo actually had any scoring skills beyond hitting layups, he should be going for 30 and 15 every night with the way defenses guard him. It’s pathetic that this guy can’t get 20 ppg despite being given wide open free throw area jumpers all game long. He’s a good player, but holy hell I can’t wait until he gets put in a situation where he’s gotta be a big time scorer for his team to win night in and night out. It may never come to that, but I sure hope it does.
