Brewer has played like complete shit since sunday

This is the 10th play I’ve seen in 3 games where he doesnt hustle. The guy cannot play 40 minutes a night. He is not cut out for it.

Also, we need to get Boozer out of there. This is a joke

Yet another fast break dunk

...and Stacey King is HILARIOUS. He's so funny, that I completely overlook the fact that he's gained 300lbs since his playing days.

Derrick got swiped

HE didn't get fouled, at all.

Just dicked around with the ball and spun into a waiting defender.

Yeah, Rose has good numbers,

but he’s gotta have more than 13 FGA right now. He’s taken 5 shots since the first quarter and thats inexcusable. He needs to at least try and take over.

What's bad is the PHI is only shooting 46%

If the bulls decide to REBOUND, this game becomes winnable

I think is one game where it would be really hard

to pin the problem on Rose. He’s penetrating very well and creating shots for everyone else, but they’re just not hitting them.

I noticed that last year, quickness is our weakness, thats why we struggled against the heat in the playoffs with their quick starting line-up, we struggle against the sixers and warriors. we struggled against the knicks as well when they had that small line-up with amare at center before carmelo got there.

We were healthy that game but Rip I think

by KCinIL on Feb 1, 2012 7:40 PM CST up reply actions

Ok...

I’m not excusing him, just providing some context. The point made by dakoose was that Rose’s 1 point in the quarter is “the game right there.” The score says the Bulls are down 20 points.

Unless we expect Rose to drop 20 in the 3rd while being double and triple teamed, I don’t think his 1 point is the difference in the game.

by bryield on Feb 1, 2012 7:44 PM CST up reply actions

encapsulates the game for us. Not that he expects Rose to single-handedly bring us back.

Soriano: While Rip Hamilton and Ronnie Brewer give the Bulls a serviceable shooting guard rotation, getting them a more versatile player to fill that spot would give them that extra boost in getting to the Finals. Meanwhile, O.J. Mayo is on the trade block and could give the Bulls that secondary shot creator and scorer who can complement Rose and a healthy Luol Deng. Here’s the trade.

Wallace: When you’re in first place in your conference, it’s hard to accept that you need anything to put you over the top. But if those painful losses to the Heat show the Bulls anything, it’s that they need another reliable scorer to complement Rose. Why not call Houston and check on Kevin Martin’s availability? If I’m the Bulls, I’d pitch Boozer but realize it might cost Joakim Noah. Chicago just won’t beat the Heat in a seven-game series as is.

Rose was bringing the ball, stopping in the midcourt circle and passing for someone from there. That’s not good

by JustAnotherFan on Feb 1, 2012 8:28 PM CST up reply actions

Well, considering how even with Rose not being great,

he was still their by far their best player which just goes to show how his teammates didn’t do shit to help out.

At least Rose kept attacking and ddin’t sulk, but it would have been nice for somone else to step up.

Hard to beat elite teams 1 on 5.

We got our asses kicked today

But to be fair, I don’r remember any Bulls game in which there were so many dumb mistakes and the other team caught so many breaks…lead cut to 12, we decided to pressure the PG, easy layup…again, cut to 12, they trapped our PG and have an easy layup on the fastbreak…good D for 23 defense, ball scrambles and a 76er ends up with the ball under the hoop…WTF!!!

It is very simple

Any team with athletes is going to be very difficult for us to beat. We have one..count it ONE.. player on this team who can create his own shot.
Deng as good as he is, is not a star player- he is a great third option currently trying to play the role of a second option.
We need to take this rare chance to acquire another superstar and trade the FARM for Dwight Howard. Everything else is a losing formula.

by D-Cas on Feb 1, 2012 8:16 PM CST reply actions

Philly is a team that is being underrated because of their easy schedule, they saw an opportunity to prove how good they are against a top team at their home. They just were more motivated and had more energy tonight.

This game was a reality check

For any of us (myself included) that were under the illusion that this team was the hardest working team in the NBA. We just got introduced to the team that arguably takes that title.

Anyway, what I posted in the game thread:

It seems pretty clear to me that the Bulls aren’t going to show the same “never say die, never quit” effort they showed all the time last year. The GS game was the first sign that this team was actually capable of mailing it in, the second ATL game was a disturbing follow up, and I know Deng is injured, but some of what I saw tonight I never ever thought I’d see from this team, ever.

If this team doesn’t hustle and put in effort, they don’t have enough raw talent to be an upper echelon team in the NBA. The Heat can mail it in and still win games. We don’t have that luxury.

Additional comments:

If this team has it in them to be lazy and not show effort like they did tonight, then it makes me think that there will come a point where they could potentially tune out Thibodeau. And quite frankly, that scares the **** out of me.

For the first time in almost a year I’m having buyer’s remorse on this team. And I think it goes beyond missing Deng. This is the 3rd or 4th time this season we have mailed it in to a good (or even bad) team.

The only excuse I can think of is that this is due to the shortened season. I pray that’s all it is, but if not…wow.

I agree with tuning Thibs out ………….he lacks any offensive scheme

When you are missing quality players it is up to the coach to have a game plan to bet better teams. Thibs does not have that ability.

by bluezman7 on Feb 1, 2012 8:28 PM CST up reply actions

wow, are you still shittin on thibs

get over it…you cant win with limited players like brewer and korver!

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 8:29 PM CST up reply actions

no im not

i know what a coach can do and not do for a team. Look what happened to the wizards…they had a good coach and yet they sucked balls? why? because he can only have enough impact on a team. Thibs can only do so much with brewer limited scoring abilities and a super one dimensional player like korver,

might as well bash phil jackson after how they lsot to the mavs! And Greg Pops!

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 8:35 PM CST up reply actions

Geo my point is …...

Form the start of the game there seemed to be no plan on how to attack the 76’s………just let the defense turn into offense seemed to be the plan. You cannot go against Doug Collins with that sort of plan. At least to me the players did not buy into Thibs plan, that is just me ……….great coaches devise a scheme to beat other good or great coaches. And yes Thbs was out coach last year in the ECF.

by bluezman7 on Feb 1, 2012 8:40 PM CST up reply actions

you are again missing MY point

in order for the scheme to work, you need certain players that consist of certain skillset. The bulls at thid point DONT! If you dare tell me Brewer and Korver should be enough, then you are clearly delusional.

Great coaches can only do so much. What happened to jackson and pops team says NOTHING bad about their coaching. Why did the spurs lose and why did the lakers lose? simple…the scheme is not enough to beat teams if you have players who have a limit skill set. Bulls had mutliple injuries including rose and booz. We lacked a true SG and we got exposed. What can thibs do exactly to coutner that? NOTHING. You have nobody on the bench that can play score and play alongside Rose. Brewer and Bogans does not cut it…in roder for a coach to do great things with the team, he needs the right weapons to succeed. If you were to tell me Phil Jackson would have lead the lakers to multiple titles without pau gasol, you are delusional. Same goes for the mavs of last yr. They had the right set of players that had the appropriate skills where his schema would work. For example, Jason terry…if he waso ut for that series, heat would have swept the mavs asses.

Bottom lineL thibs is not a miracle worker. Every great coach needs not only good players, but the right players to help his schema. Thibs tonight just didnt have anyone to answer philly defense.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 9:02 PM CST up reply actions

effort and hustle have nothing to do with game plan

I'm saying a lot of the "same issues" that RogersPark Kris was referring to

could be caused by missing certain players and playing an elite defensive team. I’m not saying we don’t have the problems offensively, but we were the best offensive team in the league at one point when the team was damn-near healthy.

There's something to be said about losing this badly

But, I think the Bulls clearly mailed it in, and in a shortened season, that’s not the worst thing in the world. The injuries are certainly part of it, but that’s not an excuse for this kind of showing. It was a lack of effort, plain and simple. But, the Bulls will make the playoffs, and need to get healthy, so I don’t have much of an issue with some defeats (no matter how humiliating). Even great teams lose big sometimes.

The bigger issue is that the Sixers are a scary team that could give the Bulls fits in the playoffs. Hopefully we’ll be healthy and ready to defend against Iguodala ripping us apart, but the Sixers are LEGIT and frightening. Good luck to whoever has to deal with that.

oh and i forgot to comment on what annoyed me endlessly

i guess in philly they have the same douchey promotion about the big macs. at the end when they were at 98 and we had the ball malik rose was all, oh philly will get another shot… and then said, once they had the ball “somebody foul!” like even if he was joking, it was totally retarded. the guy was so annoying and then had the nerve to say that shit it was just absolutely ridiculous.

March 15th

…is the NBA trading deadline. Sure will be interesting to see what happens. I honestly think the Bulls really need to make some changes. As currently constructed I still feel we fall just short. We need a big splash.

"We wish Jordan were 7-feet, but he isn't. There just wasn't a center available. What can you do? Jordan isn't going to turn this franchise around. I wouldn't ask him to. not really a big splash but more like an addition of a guy who can score from the bench

i think this team needs a 6th man. Sure, we all want howard, but im being realistic…i think this team can def acquire a solid scorer by the trading deadline.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 9:39 PM CST up reply actions

How do you guys feel about the dual point guard thing?

Like Denver runs. Once the ball is taken out of Derricks hands everything stops. No one else can really safely handle the ball. How about a real facilitator that isn’t crippled like Rip.

Clippers are fun to watch

They run the two PG thing also (CP3 and Chauncey). I guess we really couldn’t do that since not many Bulls can really finish well.

CJ looked pretty score-y today, and he often looks that way when he applies himself

I think Thibs and the players need to get in his ear about being more aggressive.

Injuries. Fuck.

by Juiceboxjerry on Feb 1, 2012 9:48 PM CST up reply actions

And look how that turned out.

JK. I didn’t get to watch the game. Buy after reading the posts it sounded like the whole team was lethargic. Just need someone else that can dribble and work with Derrick back and forth when he is doubled. I don’t know, the games where Rip was healthy and played well I thought he may have been enough. He was able to run the break along with Rose and also distribute to others. But I don’t see him staying in much of this year.

"We wish Jordan were 7-feet, but he isn't. There just wasn't a center available. What can you do? Jordan isn't going to turn this franchise around. I wouldn't ask him to. actually CJ was rollin well with rose

they make a good combo! CJ can score is given enough time and with rose, CJ can def put up like 12-14 ppg.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 9:57 PM CST up reply actions

So if we end up playing Miami

in the ECF, and they put Lebron on Rose again, why is this year going to be any different?

depends on rip and deng

they are absolutely vital to the bulls success this yr. Rip can play but again, we need him healthy and thanksfully the bulls will rest him till the all star break. If we can get rose, rip, and deng combo set, I dont think lebron can afford to guard rose.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:09 PM CST up reply actions

Lebron on Rose, Wade chasing Rip and Battier on Lu, no?

Rip can get a shot over Wade

as he’s proven he can block Wade’s shots and frustrate him beyond belief. If major offense is needed put Luol at the 4 and put Cj in at the 2. There’s ways to get past it.

we should do Korver, Brewer, and a pick.

For Allen and Mayo. Memphis really needs shooters, that would be so sick.

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:26 PM CST up reply actions

wow, that trade alone would make this team complete imo

allen can score and defend and mayo can def help rose or subbing in for rip during the 2nd/3rd Q.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:28 PM CST up reply actions

yeah i like it too

too bad we ourselves can’t just hit up memphis and make it happen

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:31 PM CST up reply actions

i heard their GM hates our organization

idk, i cant find the article but there was an interview where the griz would spurn their trade offers.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:32 PM CST up reply actions

yeah i heard that too

I mean I’m sure if we threw a 1st rounder he would have to do it. Homeboy would never cut us a deal though.

I heard we were offered Beasley for Korver and our Charlotte pick sometime before this season what do you think of that?

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:38 PM CST up reply actions

really? never heard bout that...

if thats true, damn, that would be a steal. Beasley can score and cna def help rose in crunch time. The prob is having gibson and booz at pf. Out frontcourt would be overcrowded and we would most likely have to give up gibson in order to make room for beasley.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:46 PM CST up reply actions

yeah they were trying to avoid problems with their own front court overcrowding

I don’t hate Booze but it sucks that he kills our flexibility so much. I’d much rather have Beasley play the 4 and have cap space then being locked with Booze for 3 more years.

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:52 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, what can oyu do, jsut live with booz for another couple of yrs

but i do get the feeling garpax will def make a move by midseason.

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:56 PM CST up reply actions

hope so

I’m not in the camp that thinks it’s Dwight or bust. I’d be happy with just a solid playmaker, a guy who can change the game every now and then.

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 11:01 PM CST up reply actions

There weren't any ways last year. Just dont feel Rip is gonna be around at the end of this crazy schedule.

rip injuries are not bad as they seem

they are nagging injuries, but he just needs to be rested by all star break (kncok on wood).

by Geo4MVP on Feb 1, 2012 10:21 PM CST up reply actions

yeah Rip's injuries aren't severe

he just has a small nagging injury. It’s more annoying than worrisome, he should be good to go in the playoffs.

Something people don’t give him credit for is being a legit starter for an nba championship team. Come playoff time Rip isn’t going to be afraid like Rose’s supporting cast last year.

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:25 PM CST up reply actions

Sorry meant Haslem/ Battier on Deng.

Haslem guarding Deng?

Deng would get us a bucket if they tried that lol

by MartyMondays on Feb 1, 2012 10:18 PM CST up reply actions

I still feel we will come up short

unless we get someone other than derrick that can create off the dribble. I don’t care if he’s a starting 2 or backup 2/3. I just want someone that can provide some spark offensively and actually knows how to dribble and dunk

by trig on Feb 1, 2012 9:49 PM CST up reply actions

idk Im kinda over this loss already

It sucks but losing to a good team on the road is gonna happen. When we start losing to the same multiple times, and on our own floor, ill be ticked.

by dp8292 on Feb 1, 2012 9:42 PM CST reply actions

Only thing that sucks about this loss is that this is the third time we've lost to them in a row

He has been tearing it up over there. Checked your link. He was 14-18 from 3 tonight. And he had another game last month with 43 points.
Man, two scoring threats to go with our D and rebounding? Wow.
What would it take to get JR?

however, how much $$$ will he demand? Will GarPax go the trade route or wait till Smith returns? At this pt dude, we cant asnwer none of these questions nor speculate.

Had to wait until the KU game was over to post my thoughts.

I’ll still continue to harp that I don;t want D12 and that Boozer is good. Honestly, this game changes nothing. They played like crap, sure, but they were also on the road against a very good team, with arguably their second and third best offensive players. Besides, the Heat just lost to a shit team at full health. Everyone needs to calm down.
