Yeah, I saw this too and posted it in the Howard thread.
To answer your question, though – I suppose it depends on if there’s some kind of trade in the works. Or, I think the Bulls can still offer the vet minimum.
They were always going after another big man

Unless they were always going after the trade...
correlation or causation?!
i don't think so
cause they waived james, so they have enough room to offer the vet min without going over…

I haven't perused the new CBA by Larry Coon,
but in the previous CBA there was a loophole/rule that the vet min was partially paid by the league.
So, if a team signed a guy, say for the vet min of around $1.4 mil (exact value not known), the league would pick up the $1 mil and the the rookie min (was around $450k) would be all that’s charged against the team’s tax number.
I’m unsure if a similar rule exists now.
Sorry no link to old CBA.

Not since Luke Skywalker has a white person had such a clear choice between good and evil

Seriously though, unless he hates the Heat as much as the rest of the free world, I don't see how he chooses us
He has a shot at legitimately starting for that team, and if healthy, would help them a ton. You really think he’d rather be a fifth big man for the Bulls?
Injuries. Fuck.

agreed, it's an easy choice for him unless he simply wishes to not turn evil
nice picture of Shane Battier, btw.

how do you like my riley?

By popular demand I am putting a moratorium on the Melo talk until the Knicks win the title in June.

IF he can stay healthy is right
just looked up his numbers.. he’s only had 4 relatively healthy seasons (71 games or more)… but after that it’s 56, 43, and a bunch of 30 game seasons (and one 17!). that and he averages 4pts and 6 reb in 20 min a game. he’s only had an average PER 3 times (15.5, 15.4, 15.3)… i’m pretty underwhelmed. he’d be nice as a 5th big… but after looking at this it wouldn’t scare me if he did sign with the heat for a chance to compete for the starting spot.

I'm not sure he helps the Heat that much
He put up less than 2 points a night in around 15 minutes of action last season. There’s some question about how much he has left in the tank. Plus, he hasn’t played in a looong time. He is decent enough that he will be of some benefit to either team, but I don’t see him being any kind of a game-changer for anyone at this point. He is purely end-of-the-bench big man depth. In other words, if you’re getting a steady diet of this dude your team is probably in trouble.
yep, all he has to do is beat out Joel A, Curry and Pittman...
hell, the sad thing is, Curry may be our best offensive option atm—that’s some fucked up shit right there. If Joel P. goes to Chicago, he will be riding the pine for the most part.

after thinking about it
i’d much rather prz sign with mia… since isn’t that going to lower the chances of them getting martin? i’d much rather this happen, lol. and plus they already carry 15 guys, so guess they will have to get rid of a scrub.

What does he even bring to the table that Anthony doesn't?
I mean, they’re both pretty good defenders, I know Pryz is a better re bounder and has some more experience, but I’d way rather this happen then KMart for sure.
Supporter of Carlos Austin Boozer, and I don't want to see Dwight Howard in a Bulls uniform. Call me crazy.

Is it spoiled to think
that this team desperately needs a fifth big? (even though each of those guys would be starters on other teams?)
