Rip Hamilton foot injury: Hamilton "heard something pop", MRI Sunday

US PRESSWIRE

One fallout from the Bulls pretty big win over the Sixers on Saturday night was a possible injury to Rip Hamilton. Hamilton suffered what appears to be a foot sprain in a non-contact play in the 3rd quarter:

[It happened] when I jumped up. As soon as I came off my feet, that's when I really felt something on the bottom of my foot. I felt something pop.

It was a lot scarier than I thought, but we'll see. [Sunday] I'm supposed to get an MRI on it. But the good thing about it I was able to put a little bit of weight on it and was able to go back into the game.

Indeed, Hamilton did return to the game (allowed by Fred 'cleared him' Tedeschi) when it became a free-throw situation, and hit 3 of 4 down the stretch. He wasn't really in true 'game action' and Hamilton admitted he wasn't 100%.

Hamilton is one of the best FT shooters in the league, and the Bulls were having a bit of trouble in that game, but regardless of the official diagnosis this seems like yet another unnecessary risk taken by Thibs and this staff. Something about the Sixers, maybe?
