Fan voting opens for the 2012 All-Star Game
Fan voting for the starters of the 2012 All-Star Game began Wednesday morning and the expected five Bulls are on the ballot -- Carlos Boozer, Luol Deng, Richard Hamilton, Joakim Noah, and Derrick Rose. You can indirectly annoy all of your Facebook friends and Twitter followers by now sharing the link to this post or directly by sharing the link to where you'll actually vote: Bulls.com/VoteBulls.
All of that said the East starters will likely be Dwight Howard, LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade, and Rose. Who's picked as the reserves will likely be more legacy picks than they usually are already, just because the season is so shortened and out-of-nowhere players' ability-to-production ratio will just be more heavily scrutinized.
The game itself will be played at the Amway Center in Orlando on Feb. 26.

Melo is a shoe in
He is extremely popular with the fans. Im would almost guarntee 9 of the starters will be Rose, Wade, James, Anthony, Howard, Paul, Bryant, Durant, and Bynum. I think the only question is whether Blake or Dirk make it. I would guess Blake due to the fact that the casual fan sees sport center dunks of Grifen no stop and will vote that way.

Blake is actually having a better year than dirk right now, so if Blake got in I think it’d be more deserved, rather than if dirk got in, that’s probably based on the average fans memory of him beating lebron
at least its hockey season now

Blake
Im not saying Blake wouldn’t deserve the vote if he got it. I actually voted for him becasue every game I have watched him play he is dominating.

so we're back to underrating dirk again?

i think new york is clearly his team and his city now
amare had them last year but its pretty clear its melo’s team now
Should've traded for Melo.
by sin on Jan 4, 2012 5:33 PM CST up reply actions
and hows that going for him?
2-4 with losses to the Raptors and Bobcats. Melo is a one of the most overrated players in the league. I would take Deng over him any day.

you put rose on that team without amare and tell me how well they do
Should've traded for Melo.
by sin on Jan 5, 2012 1:34 PM CST up reply actions
damn you, Deng
I thought I was going to tell sin “yeah, but does melo have a mohawk?” all year long
by JustAnotherFan on Jan 5, 2012 1:37 PM CST up reply actions 3 recs
i admit the mohawk was cool
Should've traded for Melo.

"and tell me how well they do"
Without Amare (who’s better than Carmelo)? Worse than last year’s Bulls, and likely worse than this year’s Bulls as well.
or hell swap melo and deng and tell me which team gets better
i think we are 7-0
and the knicks are 0-6
Should've traded for Melo.
by sin on Jan 5, 2012 1:35 PM CST up reply actions
Denver is 23-9 since losing Melo
They were 32-25 with him last year. Melo is a ball stopper who, while a very efficient scorer doesn’t really that just because you are the most efficient scorer, you shouldn’t shoot every shot. Add in the Nuggets skyrocketing Drtg since the trade and it paints a pretty negative picture of Melo.

they didnt just lose melo
they gained a whole buncha shit. youre acting like they just lost melo and got better. they got more pieces to fill in the spots they were weak at as opposed to just having one super strong position
Should've traded for Melo.
by sin on Jan 6, 2012 1:05 AM CST up reply actions
They're keeping it up this season
And without Chandler they basically replaced Melo and Billups minutes with Gallo and Miller(plus no smith)
Its probably too early to tell but they don’t seem to miss him

what ? how does that work?
wtf is a shoo?
by JockstrapNoah on Jan 7, 2012 12:58 PM CST up reply actions
Well:
(from OED):
1. trans.
a. To scare or drive away (fowls, etc.) by calling out ‘shoo’ or by means of movement or gestures. Also with away, from, off, out (of). Also transf.
b. To drive or urge (a person, animal, etc.) in a desired direction.
Hence:
4. trans. With “in,” to allow a racehorse to win easily. U.S. slang. Cf. shoo-in n.
Versus the Chinpokomon in the top left:

SHOO, fly!
One day you feel like you're on top of the world when you beat the Lakers and then the next night you lose against Golden State. - Joakim Noah
My picks:

It's funny that through mid to late jan
Last yr Rondo was killing Rose in votes before a last few week surge and there was all this likely espn discussion that Rondo was clearly better just not as flashy.
Then that turned and Rose got the starting nod by a nice but rather tight margin.
And then 4mos later he was mvp by almost everyone not named overrated only look at my stupid one sided stats and preach them even when in some cases the flaws ate exposed bc it’s the only thing earning me my huge espn paycheck (hollinger).
I mean get this Charlie v is almost a 17 per guy…seems like an exposed flaw (per doesn’t appropriately Jude defense—Boozer was our top Individual D player too last yr.
F hollinger, PER is nice but not everything and yet ESPN pushes it so hard that too many try to use it to judge players as almost the be all and end all…
The kid's out of this world. He's got Allen Iverson speed, Jason Kidd's vision, Chauncey Billups' shooting ability and Michael Jordan's athleticism. How do you guard that? - Pacers coach Frank Vogel.

rose ended up being the 5th highest vote getter
(behind lebron, wade, dwight, and kobe)
it wasn’t really a tight vote.
Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

I think it was still a pretty tight vote though, wasn't it?
I think I remember being completely stunned that Rondo was actually in the top7 or so of vote getters
Sadly, my self worth is almost entirely based upon the outcome of the previous night's Bulls game.
by Juiceboxjerry on Jan 5, 2012 12:26 PM CST up reply actions
just looked it up, he was 8th
the gap was more than 300k – out of just shy of 2 million votes that rose got, that’s not really that close… the gaps b/t amare and kg, melo and pau (and also griffin), and yao (!!!) and bynum were all smaller. rose was closer to catching wade (like 130k) than being caught by rondo.

Guess not, still stunned Rondo got that many votes
Wonder what Rose’s totals will be this year. He’s only gotten more popular since then. It would be cool if he surpassed Lebron or something
Sadly, my self worth is almost entirely based upon the outcome of the previous night's Bulls game.
by Juiceboxjerry on Jan 5, 2012 1:03 PM CST up reply actions
Why would you be stunned? It was only last year that Rose began to outperform Rondo by a clear margin
Also, Boston’s bandwagon is almost as large as ours.
by Ozzie Montana on Jan 5, 2012 1:05 PM CST up reply actions 1 recs
Yeah, I guess the Boston thing is a factor
but he just never struck me as a guy that has the type of appeal to get voted into an All-Star game. Especially getting that many votes. He has the personality of an angry turtle, and he’s not much of a scorer, which is usually one of the main skills that NBA fans vote for with things like this
Sadly, my self worth is almost entirely based upon the outcome of the previous night's Bulls game.

it's not only that
but the east guards are very top heavy. after rondo, the next was ray allen, at 890k, then felton at 397k. in the west, 9 forwards, 7 guards, and 5 centers got more votes than felton. 6 forwards in the east did (including boozer!), as well as 3 centers. the competition just isn’t there.
it will be a little different with dwill on the east side this year though.

with the margin only being 130k, i could see him passing wade
lebron also got just more than that, so that would be within reach. dwight got almost 2,100,000 and kobe got more. kobe killed the competition by getting almost 300k more than dwight. kinda crazy. rose came from behind to surpass rondo narrowly in the last update (2 weeks before the results were announced)… and since he certainly won’t be at that disadvantage this time around, i could see him doing even better.

my write in was ben gordon
old habits die hard (and almost get you banned on realgm).

3-1
My picks:
West:
Paul
Kobe
Durant
Kevin Love
Bynum
East:
Rose
Wall (didn’t want to vote for a Heat)

Can’t remember who, I think it was Paul Pierce (again, didn’t want to vote for a Heat)
Howard
If all goes well, that will give us three All-Star starters
vote for kyle lowry. he turned into magic johnson over the summer.
per36: 17/7/11 with 2 stls.
