Around the NBA Thread 1/30; OKC vs. Clip Show

I like the name 'The Clip Show' better than 'Lob City.' Who made that crap up anyway? I can understand why CPA3 and Blake didn't like it... even though their team isn't good for anything else. I mean seriously, it's not like they are winning a championship this year. Not with that defense. Not with VDN running the show over there. So they may as well have an entertaining name! What was I saying again? Anyhow, Caron Butler has started off hot and the Clippers have an early double digit lead. Let's see if they can sustain it.

i don't think OKC is on Miami or Chicago's level

they don’t play good enough D. Not just going off this 1st half, but in general. Plus they get no scoring from any of their inside guys. Teams should be trapping Durant and the human turnover all game.

by Basketball Smurf on Jan 30, 2012 10:46 PM CST reply actions

yeah, perkins is overrated

ibaka is damn good defender but after that they odnt have much defense. Durant can be good, but i never heard about him as a great defender.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 30, 2012 10:49 PM CST up reply actions

Well it's not like they run a half-court offense anyway.

It’s just Durant running off screens and Westbrook adlibbing.

no way

harden is as good as westbrook. He may be the top young SG in the league

by Basketball Smurf on Jan 30, 2012 11:00 PM CST up reply actions

the prob is westbrook

he has a very high USG rate along with Durant. What room does it leave Harden if those two guys puttin up majority of the shots.

jennings, leuer and a 1st for westbrook.

who says “no” first?

p.s.: ignore the extension stuff for now.

At least from an offensive standpoint

the numbers seriously beg to differ. And I think Westbrook is a severely overrated defender. Has all the tools, but plays way too overzealous.

ill put that up around the top 5 alongside code geass and deathnote.

sucked what happened to him though.

by BlackStar on Jan 30, 2012 11:35 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, L is def one of the greatest anime characters made alongside with lelouch from code geass

i highly recommend watching code geass. By far, one of the greatest anime of all time, if not, the best anime of all time.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 30, 2012 11:36 PM CST up reply actions

L is a pretty interesting character in some ways, but watching deathnote

drives home a lesson which should be obvious but apparently isnt: its really, really hard to write for a character who is a genius without simply making that character practically omniscient. you see examples of this all the time, especially in crime drama.

I don’t understand why they didn’t trade Westbrook for Paul. They already have one of the best SGs in the league in Harden. Hell even trade Westbrook for Howard and go after a decent PG instead. I don’t get that.

putting this here too, i just can't believe this

from sam’s column:

After Orlando scored 56 points last week in losing to Boston, Avery Bradley, not yet in the Hall of Fame, told NBA TV Nelson asked him not to play tough defense on him. “He seemed like he didn’t even want to bring the ball up,” Bradley said. “I looked at him and he kept telling me throughout the game, ‘You know what, don’t pick me up, don’t pick me up.’ And that’s when I knew, if I brought pressure, he didn’t want nothing to do with it.” Nelson had five points and five turnovers. So that’s what they’re saying out there.
