Around SBN: NFL Players Ready To Welcome Gay Teammate

Around the NBA Thread 1/28; INFINITE COMPELLING MATCHUPS TODAY!!!

Just kidding. Tons of garbage games but for those of you who have nothing to do on a Saturday night (be honest, it's most of you, right?) here is a place for you to channel your misguided frustrations! John Wall v. Kemba Walker! Philly plays yet another terrible team! OMG Kyle Lowry! (that's only half-sarcasm.) Jon Leuer v. Kobe Bryant! Rudy Gay returns and the Monarchs play the Jazz (do the Monarchs still exist in the WNBA? Serious question.) So talk it up! Keep me, I mean, yourselves entertained!

So, Louis Williams seems to be the front runner for 6th man of the year, right?

yeah, i think itll be either him/jason terry/andre miller

although terry has been pretty inconsistent off this bench this yr, but williams is def a strong front-runner. andre miller will most likely get traded off since hes not happy being a bench player and owuld be the starter for the team hes traded to (maybe the orlando magic).

I'll say Williams because he's a new face to the discussion

and Philly is on their way to their first division title since the AI days.

Sixth Man Award

James Harden easy. Also the best beard award

by tjmcnam on Jan 28, 2012 7:51 PM CST up reply actions

shit, totally forgot bout him

im always thinking thats hes the starting SG. Damn, ur right, he better get the 6th man award.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 28, 2012 7:53 PM CST up reply actions

Harden

Love that dude’s game. Thabo is the starter in name only. It’s gonna be interesting when he is up for a contract what kind of cash gets thrown at him. If he makes it to restricted free agency, there are gonna be some interesting offer sheets given to The Bearded One.

by tjmcnam on Jan 28, 2012 8:01 PM CST up reply actions

having a discussion with a buddy the other day

he asked IF the Heat were to trade Wade (which they won’t), what would be a good deal. then he just started throwing out some potential deals, and he said Harden + Perkins for Wade. i was like whoa.

by BULLieving in Miami on Jan 28, 2012 8:14 PM CST up reply actions

yeah, but i think they can do betetr than harden and perkins

no offense to perkins, but hes not that good of a center. I would say go for a center like Marc Gasol and Tony Allen…BOOM!

by Geo4MVP on Jan 28, 2012 8:25 PM CST up reply actions

i don't think thats what they need

i think Perkins is kind of the ceiling for what they need in a center. maybe even Jo. Joel Anthony is in the mold but just not good enough. with Bosh preferring to stick to mid-range/perimeter, they need their center to stay inside and do the dirty work, play good D, be physical, rebound, and occasionally finish around the rim. Perkins gives them all that. and then with Harden, they maintain a reasonable level of offensive production compared to Wade combined with being a player that doesn’t replicate Lebron’s game on the floor like Wade does.

Knicks 3-point shot count: 4 in the first 3 and a half minutes.

wow, good to see wall doing well since flip saunders got fired

i knew wall will improve once he got fired. The kid deserves better and i hope he doesnt get the same fate that rose got with VDN.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 28, 2012 7:18 PM CST reply actions

Meh

Rose still played very well under Vinny. If Wall can’t shoot over 40% because of his coach then he’s clearly not as good as advertised.

by Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. on Jan 28, 2012 7:26 PM CST up reply actions

oh def, im not letting wall off the hook for his bad shot selection

and wall never will be like rose in the scoring department. Rose is a special player who doesnt need as much coaching like wall. Wall is a raw player who needs guidance and saunders wasnt the right answer. He should cut down on his stupid shot attempts though but again, i think the right coach will help him become a decent scorer.

Why does everyone think Saunders is a bad coach or death to point guards?

He’s shown himself to be a competent coach in two other places and has had point guards develop under him. He may not be a great coach, but I seriously doubt Wall was held back by Saunders.

STAT shooting 42%? That's probably the strangest thing about this season.

Knicks 1-8 from 3 in the first quarter.

This should curb their 3-point shooting appetite… one would think.

Looks like one of those Laker games

where Kobe can say ‘well, I did my part!’ as they lose to the Bucks.

he did his part for my fantasy team, ill give him that

if pitiful to see a team being barely mediocre with a solid tandem of Gasol-Bynum.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 28, 2012 9:47 PM CST up reply actions

just got back from this game

Kobe was passive for most of the night and still put up 27. Also, I now understand why the lakers are willing to trade pau gasol.
