Would be nice if the fans kept it slightly classier...

Classy?!

There is no classy in game threads!

And Thibs said, Let there be three's, and Deng shot threes
And Deng saw the three's, that they were good
And didn't shoot long two's anymore

I meant at the UC, lol.

It’s just me, but I think the chants of ‘bullshit’ and ‘Detroit sucks!’ are lame. There have to be far more creative ways to insult someone/city.

Damn good game, Bulls fans.

Sucks that we don’t get to play again for a while. Damn you guys are good. Not interested in playing you when you have Deng back.

Pacers are dang good this year.

Thank god the Bulls won’t have to take them on in the 1st round again this year lol. Unless one of these teams ends up having a really bad final 46 games, but I’m gonna consider that unlikely.

we aren’t much better than the Pacers.

A. Give the Pacers some credit and
B. Take a deep breath and realize that nothing fell the Bulls way tonight.

without deng AND taj. oh well, it happens. we’ve been playing shit teams and blowing clubs out (with rose) for quite some time now. better not happen again.

Fully expected? Before the game or when Indiana came back to make it close?

We looked good (not spectacular) in the 1st half. You must be Karnac.

Nope fuck the Pacers

they have joined the Heat, Lakers, Knicks, Celtics and Pistons as hated teams for me. The playoffs made me consider it. This clinched it for me. The fact that there fans were complaining on Indy Cornrows is horseshit

This is a perfect example of one of those games where we lose some interest/concentration.

Sometimes, teams as good as we are now, just sort of expect the lesser opponents to kneel before you and concede the game, but the Pacers never did that, they kept fighting and the Bulls lost the momentum they had (although it did take a while) in 3rd and 4th. It’s a bad loss, but there were still some positives we can take from this. The biggest one for me is Ronnie Brewer stepping it up with 20pts.

by BullsFan22 on Jan 25, 2012 9:34 PM CST reply actions

the pacers are not a "lesser opponent"

they are right up there in the east. those idiots worry me all the time and without arguably our two most physical dudes in taj and deng they bullied their way into a win.

Under construction.

by anorexorcist on Jan 25, 2012 9:36 PM CST up reply actions

Well, by 'lesser opponent' it did kind of sound like I called them bad, didn't I? LOL

They aren’t bad, that’s for sure, but the Bulls are still a much better overall team. I guess this was/will be a good wake up call.

by BullsFan22 on Jan 25, 2012 9:38 PM CST up reply actions

Ok, so a tad confused about why Thibs put Scal in during the last possessions.

Was it to put some size on West? Cuz then he was a waste on that last offensive possession. I’m guessing Thibs had no TOs left, else he would stick KK in there to play offense, right?

Also, WTF playing Butler in the first quarter after he gets a string of DNPs.

Thibs, you need to go watch tape on this game, and make sure you’re looking closely at the coaching decisions. Then you might want to break this game’s tape.

Also, how big is that goddamn Rose 3pt at the end of the first Q now? And the Rip missed Tech FT?

Play like this and we won’t have to worry about beating the Heat (who barely scraped by DET tonight thanks to Brandon Knights Asik like FT shooting in the 4th Q)

don’t forget we’re still number one
indiana barely beat us with our MVP still hurt and one started and a very important role player off the bench.
calls didn’t go our ways but that can be said for both teams.

Bulls were badly outworked in the frontcourt, made same poor decisions on the floor, and just plain missed shots

The refs were terrible but most of the fault here lies on the Bulls. The pacers outhustled them.

Derrick did not look like he has a lot of mobility tonight aside from a few good drives.

And Thibs said, Let there be three's, and Deng shot threes

Well, alright guys, I am outta here.

Interesting game, some good things, a lot of not so good things, but it’s just one game, and it’s a good way to learn for the upcoming games. Not sure either why Scal was put in, and not sure why Derrick wasn’t as aggressive down the stretch, but things like this do happen, and we do still have the best record in the league. My biggest concern is having everybody healthy or healthy enough to where they can make a difference. We don’t have that, yet, so it will take some time, but hopefully not too much time. Peace out brotha’s and good night. Don’t drink it away!!

I think the officiating evened out and was bad for both teams

However, even if it’s evenly bad, it still affects both teams and makes luck become a much larger part of the game. Don’t want to see that.

No timeouts after the rebound. Scal shouldn’t have been in at all. It was like playing 4 on 5 going for the tie.

This is ridiculous, meanwhile Dwayne Wade is resting up getting ready to kick our asses in the ECF

by D-Cas on Jan 25, 2012 9:50 PM CST reply actions

wtf are you talking bout? Wade injury was alot more serious than Rose and Noah

Noah had a minor sprained ankle and did well today and Rose may have been conservative, but at this point the bulls need him.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 25, 2012 9:52 PM CST up reply actions

I'd say rest Rose too

he just seems off and we’re better off as the 3rd seed or something with Rose healthy than the 1st seed with Rose not healthy

by MartyMondays on Jan 25, 2012 9:54 PM CST reply actions

Its not something that's gonna go away overnight you know

He rested for 6 days and it barely improved. If you want to rest Rose till his injury gets better than I guess we’ll see Rose in July.

Like I said

Sitting Rose for 1 month wouldn’t help that much. The only way for him to get 100% would be to not walk for awhile. To get around 90% he would have to probably wear a boot for a long time.

Rose didn't seem that off

He shot 9-19 and got flat out murdered on one of his misses. The lane closes up quite a bit when boozer and rip can’t hit a damn thing.

by DRoseO1 on Jan 25, 2012 9:59 PM CST via Android app up reply actions

i know he didn't play bad

but he played limited, he played like he didn’t want to hurt himself.

by MartyMondays on Jan 25, 2012 10:01 PM CST up reply actions

Some things

Rose should not have passed that last one. Might have missed, but prolly would have gotten fouled if not. But, why was scal out there? That was dumb.

But rip was 6-20. Ouch. Bulls could not hit a 15 for jumper ( aside from rose and brewer) and they still should have won. That missed foul when rose got clotheslined was just awful. Feel bad, but not concerned just yet.

Both teams get preseason hype of improving, both seem likeable in the beginning (well detroit at 1st did) because they sucked for a while and underdog shit…Both became dirty ass bitch teams and are hated. Both teams have douchebag players with douchebag coaches advocating dirty play and acting like they won a title in the regular season. Both teams get away with it. The thing that makes it hurt a bit more is that it was the Pacers, at home. And the fact that the schedule gets very tough now, and a few East teams lost today. We had a chance to separate ourselves a bit.

yeah, i don't see that happening

bulls have proven so far and last season that they bounce back very well (save the ecf).

after the 9 game trip though, the schedule is pretty favorable. bulls deserve it after playing the most games in the league and having a ton of road games already.

but yeah i mean it is def annoying that we lost to the pacers at home, but it’s pretty pathetic they acted like they just won the championship with that.

Well, if it hurts that much to see them celebrate a victory, you should try doing something about it.

Attack the hoop more, don’t settle for J’s and 3’s and try not passing to a bum for the game winning shot.

Rose did not have a bad game, but he came out like gangbusters and followed up a stellar first quarter with some very mediocre basketball. His team needed the MVP edition of DRose tonight.

by dakoose on Jan 25, 2012 11:12 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

What I want to see from Rose is straight domination.

More attacking and less threes with consistent production throughout the game. He’s only had a handful of games in his career where he feasted for 4 full quarters. Thats what I wanna see from Derrick soon, some legit domination.

yeah he's only played 2 games

and they’re saying he’s going to be out another 3 weeks. something doesn’t seem right.

Well 3-4 weeks is the average time it usually takes to heal a bruised knee anyways

I really question the Hornets training staff though since I’m wondering what gave them the idea that they could bring Gordon back the first time. He obviously re-aggravated it, but how quickly he did leaves me wondering what they hell is going on with the training staff over there. He came back after 1 week when he should have been out 3 from the start.

LOVE how he would fit with the Bulls, but I think i’d have to pass. He makes Luol look like Cal Ripken

lol, come on now, you know dengs injury was a "freek injury"

i wouldnt really put in the category of injury prone (knock on wood).

by Geo4MVP on Jan 25, 2012 10:53 PM CST up reply actions

Unfortunately, I think that team we played today

would have to be the favorite to acquire Gordon. Cheaper assets + Hometown.

by Bobby Tables on Jan 25, 2012 10:50 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Well since it would have to be a S + T, and we're talking about the Hornets...

My suggestion is for Reinsdorf to start being really friendly to David Stern.

You guys rightly hate on Scal

But I’ll take that guy shooting a wide open trey in any situation. Perfect play by Rose, nobody makes shots every time but an open Scal is pretty close. Guy is not good at basketball but hating on that play by Rose is wrong.

by Gentleman Jim on Jan 25, 2012 10:50 PM CST reply actions

not hating on scal or anything, but this game proved how much the bulls missed taj

him and asik have crucial value from bench and we need them to be heatlhy (knock on wood)

by Geo4MVP on Jan 25, 2012 10:52 PM CST up reply actions

What??

Lets all admit it: Scalibrine is not a good basketball player. Moreso, he’s a bad player who can’t get burn unless his team gets ravaged by injuries. Rose made a bad decision in passing to a guy like Scal; he’s been talking about his higher basketball IQ but there’s nothing intelligent about passing to Scal for a game winning shot. Stacey says it all the time, KYP, know your personel. Scal should not have been out there, but there’s still no excuse for passing to Scal.

by dakoose on Jan 25, 2012 11:16 PM CST up reply actions

I know there’s hate for the guy, but that’s a huge exaggeration.

Scal is not a good basketball player and he should not have been out there

But Gentleman Jim is right; Scalabrine can knock down open jumpers, and I have no problem with Rose passing to him there.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 25, 2012 11:59 PM CST up reply actions

Then we agree to disagree,

because I’m of the opinion that there are some guys who you simply don’t pass to in crunch time. Taj and Noah are guys you don’t give the last shot to, same goes for Scal and Omer. Last shots are reserved for shot-makers, not clowns off the bench.

by dakoose on Jan 26, 2012 9:04 AM CST up reply actions

he was wide open and Hibbert, who had 4 blocks, was rotating over

Scal should have moved in closer, instead of taking the 3. He is a “stretch” 4, but his range doesn’t extend to 22 ft.

by Basketball Smurf on Jan 26, 2012 12:09 AM CST up reply actions

Sure it does.

He hasn’t had the chance to take many 3PAs since coming to Chicago, but he’s definitely shown that level of range in the past.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 26, 2012 12:12 AM CST up reply actions

Then Rose was stupid for taking it all the way in on Hibbert.

If getting into the lane means dishing to Scal, don’t get in the damn lane; take a step-back J.

Zero problem with Rose throwing that pass to Scalabrine

It was the rest of the fourth quarter where he was stunningly timid that pissed me off.

Imo

Vogel will be stuck on that team, They are the ATL hawks midwest, being a good team but will never win one. But hey! They’re happy about a regular season game against a team losing their 2nd best player and Taj and barely beaten them due to us sucking and the refs being horrible to do it…In that case congrats to them…

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 26, 2012 12:07 AM CST reply actions

Whoops

It’s not like the Bulls are significantly worse in any one area, but Deng has a positive impact on just about every facet of the game, which makes it a lot harder for the Bulls to win. I still think we can be a great team without him, but everybody else needs to step up to cover for his absence.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 26, 2012 12:09 AM CST up reply actions

Yup

Also spacing. Having three guys out there who aren’t long-range threats (Brewer, Boozer, Noah) made it very hard to get things going offensively. Brewer got his, but he made things a lot more difficult his teammates, which is why he had only a +0, despite having a superb statline. I think Korver should’ve gotten more run.

a part of me is sort of glad the heat are getting these close games

im so hoping that regardless of the record they continue going into these grindy games and over time situations. Basically a flip flop of what happened last season. THe bulls grinded out wins to the best record in the league, but ended up with tired legs by the playoffs, the heat crushed opponents in their wins, and were fairly fresh, and ended up at full power by the 3rd round against us. Im hoping the heat have some tired legs, although with the way thibs is pushing guys, we might have tired legs regardless

I was hoping for some noah/ Asik

I had high hopes w/ boozer in foul trouble. Noah can stop west, Asik can handle hibbert. but oh well.

by gooses on Jan 26, 2012 12:09 AM CST reply actions

One thing was clear to me watching Rose tonight.

He isn’t 100%. He drove hard to the basket with the intention of drawing contact only twice tonight. He’s hurt. Now, that really isn’t THAT big of a problem except that his damn toe will never heal. He shot a lot of jumpers (hit a lot of them as well) but he is not the same “scare teams shitless” player unless he is driving to the paint.

As for the Pacers, people are saying to give them credit. I’ll give them credit when they beat us in a game where we aren’t forced to play Brian Scalabrine. We had 8 bench points…these injuries are depleting our bench depth and forcing Thibs to put different players on the court together. It may help in the long run, but teams will not be facing us anywhere near full strength for a while.

Also, another thing...

Boozer should be fucking embarassed. For the last 2 minutes of the game, he got pulled for BRIAN SCALABRINE. Are you kidding me, Boozer? Do I have to drive up to Chicago and light a fire under your ass? It’s pathetic!

by MichaelClutchtree on Jan 26, 2012 12:33 AM CST reply actions

There are major, major, big time issues that were exposed tonight

-The Bulls are 3-4 against good teams, and three of those losses were blowouts
-Thibs is a better defensive mind, but I’d say Vogel at least equals him as a coach
-I don’t care how Boozer/Noah/Asik/Butler/Gibson (when he’s playing) do during a game. Unless all five guys are hurt, no way in hell Scal should be in the game at crunch time over any of them. I don’t care if they are a combined 0-47 with 0 rebounds, they all play over Scal in crunch time.
-We should NEVER lose a close game, especially at home, if Derrick Rose is playing. Tonight we did, and that shows how significant that this toe injury is. I’d say this game shows that it’s EXTREMELY unlikely we beat Miami on Sunday or Miami in a 7 game series with Rose’s toe the way it is. He has to be able to take over for us to win this type of game, especially with no Deng or a shell-of-himself Deng. If Rose couldn’t win us this game tonight, there are serious, serious issues going forward.
-It’s disturbing that the Bulls are STILL getting bit in the ass by teams that should not be as good as them, but are also not afraid of them. The Bulls are not good enough (especially with no Deng) to take other teams lightly. Even Miami gets bit doing that sometimes. Last year against the Pacers and Hawks in the playoffs, and this year against Atlanta, Pacers, and Grizzlies the Bulls seemed to think they “should” win, and then lost because these other good young teams arent afraid of them. The Bulls are taking teams lightly, and they have played VERY poorly against good opponents this season.
