3.7%

Higher than this time last year, yet I want to say the national media gave the Bulls at least a 25% chance to beat the Heat going into the playoffs last season.

A couple interesting things here...

The one GM that things the Bulls will the East also thinks the Bulls will win the Championship. This one GM is likely GarPax.

Amazingly, there is consensus on most of the Predictions section.

No love for JoNo.

Mirotic also not mentioned.

How is Luol Deng NOT considered for best perimeter defender?

I love how the team with the best defensive player isn’t even a top 6 defense overall.

How Thibs is not a top 4 coach is mind boggling. At least he gets defensive props.

IMO, only Kobe and Durant are better at creating his own shot than Rose. And it’s not really that close.

I find it funny that Rose is the consensus best PG, but not even a top 7 passer.

LeBron James. Finisher. Oxymoron.

Chris Paul is the best leader in the NBA. Then why did he quit on his team? Twice? In two years? That does NOT equal a Leader in my eyes. It’s either Rose or Kobe for that honor.

by Doshi on Jan 17, 2012 3:24 PM CST reply actions

"Which player would you want taking the shot with the game on the line?"

Kobe? Really? Over Dirk, Melo, Durant, and several other clutch performers who have hit more game winners than Kobe has.

by Rose1 on Jan 17, 2012 3:30 PM CST up reply actions

I think anybody that says he's bad in clutch spots in crazy.

There’s nobody in the game, right now, I’d rather have with the ball in the final seconds. Yeah, he takes a lot of bad shots, but he’s second best tough shot maker I’ve ever seen.

by dakoose on Jan 18, 2012 3:36 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

dude, he sucks in the clutch

and im not hating but its been like that since he blew the finals against boston, and when he won it the last time his only clutch plays were his rebounds. this whole “coby is a closer” myth is all just a fabrication of TNT tying to tie in that wack ass show with Kyvra Sedgwick. coby is better than most in the clutch, but id rather give the ball to d fisher anyday of the week

by Belize on Jan 18, 2012 3:59 PM CST up reply actions

The only thing fabricated is the way you spell Kobe.

There is no way he sucks in the clutch. And then after claiming he sucks in the clutch, you come out with…..

coby is better than most in the clutch

Which one is it? He’s definitely not the greatest clutch performer of all time, and he’s failed plenty of times trying to win games, but I’d take him over anyone in the game right now.

by dakoose on Jan 18, 2012 4:09 PM CST up reply actions

Ding ding ding

For example, look at the last second shot he took against the Bulls. There were four guys around him when he put up that shot (which ultimately got blocked). The Bulls were able to get away with doing that, because everybody in the building knew Kobe wasn’t passing the ball.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 18, 2012 6:22 PM CST up reply actions

Yeah, but on the flip side he hooked up DFish the other day for a game winner.

Kobe’s not the greatest clutch player I’ve seen, but I’d still take him in the clutch, even over Durant or Dirk.

by dakoose on Jan 19, 2012 11:50 AM CST up reply actions

both

he sucks in the clutch but he’s better than most…which means, he alright..he aint all that..he meh

but that me tho, i just wouldnt give him the last shot if I had to choose btw all the rest of the players out there such as dirk, ray ray or even fisher

by Belize on Jan 18, 2012 5:11 PM CST up reply actions

btw* = between

i always seem to use that alot..meh

by Belize on Jan 18, 2012 5:12 PM CST up reply actions

lol

and it’s DOWN 30% from last year! crazy.

course, these gms also say he is still the best SG in the game right now…

Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

by Jaina on Jan 18, 2012 2:58 PM CST up reply actions

its gotta be melo or dirk imo

they have the most moves and can get it off against anyone.
i still dont trust durant cause he doesnt seem to do anything but launch from 30 feet when the game is on the line

By popular demand I am putting a moratorium on the Melo talk until the Knicks win the title in June.

by sin on Jan 19, 2012 12:41 AM CST up reply actions

Wade's pretty ridiculous at creating a shot...(though I like Rose, just sayin')

Noah this year deserves the no mention (though I think this survey ocurred before we’ve seen teh crap he’s been playing so far—I don’t know what gives JoNo)….

I find the not top passer and no mention for Rose as the toughest player with all the crazy hits he’s made puzzling.

The kid's out of this world. He's got Allen Iverson speed, Jason Kidd's vision, Chauncey Billups' shooting ability and Michael Jordan's athleticism. How do you guard that? - Pacers coach Frank Vogel.

by majoyenrac on Jan 17, 2012 3:50 PM CST up reply actions

Really?

we have the same percentage to win the finals as Indiana or Orlando do to win their division?

by Chicagoblooz on Jan 17, 2012 4:17 PM CST reply actions

Yeah

its that one crazy gm that thinks miami or chicago will be 5th seed

by Chicagoblooz on Jan 17, 2012 4:44 PM CST up reply actions

That's not what the article says at all

Going from "3.7% of GMs would pick the Bulls to win it all to “the Bulls have a 3.7% chance of winning it all” is a huge, illogical leap in thinking.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jan 17, 2012 4:58 PM CST up reply actions

oh I know that

it just feels like that makes it at the same level a statement to make as those, which both seem like crazy person statements.(I understand it doesn’t mean that, it just gives off that feeling in my opinion)

by Chicagoblooz on Jan 17, 2012 5:04 PM CST up reply actions

Man, wikipedia and reddit are down.

This is all we have, and I’m not going to let you ruin it. :)

by cubbybear on Jan 18, 2012 11:13 AM CST up reply actions

Have any of y'all been watching Kyrie Irving lately?

He’s already the second best PG in the East behind DRose, and I’m dead serious.

by dakoose on Jan 17, 2012 4:41 PM CST reply actions

He's played like 10 games...

Sadly, my self worth is almost entirely based upon the outcome of the previous night's Bulls game.

by Juiceboxjerry on Jan 17, 2012 4:48 PM CST up reply actions

Hey now, thats a perfectly good sample size

Jennings has been popping off 50 point games left and right

by Chicagoblooz on Jan 17, 2012 4:51 PM CST up reply actions

Jennings better than Rose! OH NOES!!!

Ah wait he’s pretty meh

yeah, the league will def start to figure him out

his job is gonan be adjusting to the league. The league adjusted to jennings, lets see if he can do the same.

by Geo4MVP on Jan 17, 2012 5:03 PM CST up reply actions

the league didnt adjsust to jennings

he just shoots like crap now

By popular demand I am putting a moratorium on the Melo talk until the Knicks win the title in June.

by sin on Jan 18, 2012 2:57 AM CST up reply actions

I know, it's a little soon,

and if I didn’t watch him a few times I would say the same thing, but he looks really, really good.

by dakoose on Jan 17, 2012 6:24 PM CST up reply actions

agreed.

"We would look at each other with a glint of recognition and one of us would say, 'So you worry about ASIK, too,' as if admitting a secret vice. Then we would share our crazy ideas-- because all ideas about ASIK that are not immediately wrong turn out to be crazy."

by TheMoon on Jan 17, 2012 8:20 PM CST up reply actions

You see his numbers?

He’s having a tougher time away from Utah than Booz is. 36 percent from the field and 4.3 turnovers per game?!? And he was 34.9 percent from the field in his stint with NJ last season.

by dakoose on Jan 18, 2012 3:38 PM CST up reply actions

That's why it's a shame he's on such a garbage team

You’re simply not going to be an efficient player when you’re starting next to people who would struggle to be role players on good teams.

by runningman on Jan 18, 2012 5:49 PM CST up reply actions

But come on......

how can a guy supposedly as good as DWill be this bad, regardless of his teammates? Take a look at Irving’s teammates, they’re nothing special, either.

by dakoose on Jan 19, 2012 11:52 AM CST up reply actions

rubio's not in the east

Yeah, I thought they would do a little better during the regular season then they are now

But during last years playoffs against the knicks was the most embarrassed I’ve ever felt about a team that just finished a sweep. I figured this year they would cruise into a 5th or 6th seed by beating up bad teams and get swept in the first round. If Cleveland keeps it up we may have a battle between Boston and New York for the 8th seed.

by Chicagoblooz on Jan 19, 2012 5:05 PM CST up reply actions

You misunderstand the 3.7%

That’s not the odds the GMs thing the Bulls have of winning, it’s the number of GMs who think the Bulls have the best shot to win it all.

What I mean is, if you think the Bulls have a 49% chance to beat the Heat, you still only get one vote and have to go with the Heat. So it really skews things like this.

by tuluse on Jan 18, 2012 10:04 AM CST reply actions   2 recs

Good point.

But it was a good line, and I hope the team feels disrespected anyway.
