This game has convinced me

Dwight Howard or bust. We are not that good without Rose. .500 at best. I say keep as much of the Bench Mob as possible and then work on a starting lineup featuring Howard, Booz, and Rose.

I'd assume so. It is hard to judge a 26 year old on a 10 game stretch

I, however, am seriously concerned about him.

in theory it would be a bit different if we had the rest of our lineup

watson and rip would have made a huge difference in this game.

Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

No I have never been a big believer in Deng as an untouchable player.

He has too many flaws to be counted on to be a game changer on a consistent basis when rose is off or hurt. The dude CANNOT dribble, is a train wreck on the fast break, and he might be one of the worst finishers at the rim for a guy that gets so much praise..

Deng is worth keeping just for his defense on Lebron

"We wish Jordan were 7-feet, but he isn't. There just wasn't a center available. What can you do? Jordan isn't going to turn this franchise around. I wouldn't ask him to. He's a very good offensive player, but not an overpowering offensive player." Rod Thorn, then Bulls general manager, after drafting Michael Jordan

Also, Ronnie Brewer is nice, but he ain’t a starting two. Rip come back soon

John Lucas is our leading scorer? Ok Deng is playing a lot of minutes again and shooting very poorly, but Boozer and Noah again … WTF?

You would think this would be the game with Rose out for those two to step up. But same old story and same frontcourt finishing the game on the bench. We’re not gonna beat the heat if Boozer and Noah don’t play up to their ability.

Could be a lot of things

Could be confidence issues.
Could be because of the lockout.
Could be the surgery last year and he’s still not over it.
Could be an undisclosed injury.
Could be we simply have too high of expectations for him.
Or it could be a simple slump.

Whatever it is….HE NEEDS TO SNAP THE FUCK OUT OF IT

man this was a fun game to watch

i mean, really it was like a great movie, funny, action packed, sad moments, happy moments, horror (like brewer playing point) it was just fun basketball…that i hope i never see again :)

I think the bulls should all go buy derrick a cake and realize how much easier he makes their job for them, especially deng who was such a non factor when asked to carry the offensive load. I think he benefits so much from sneaking around defenses when they are locked onto other guys like rose, and in this game he was asked to be the number one offensive force and failed at it because he couldnt sneak around and get open.

I think a huge difference between wall and rose is this, rose even as a rookie playing with those bad bulls teams, would have made himself known in the game. Wall vanished late in the game, and that makes no sense, we really didnt have the defense to keep him from dominating, but he settled on bad jumpers all night and passed the ball to guys who were struggling worse than him. Rose wouldve made his presence known until the very end….

Korver played terrific, it helps when you have a wizards team that runs such terrible offense that no one really could take advantage of his lack of quickness on defense

brewer was the opposite, he sucked on offense, but he was everywhere on defense

Asik is the man, i love watching him play, that dunk on mcgee was terrific icing on his destruction cake

I missed boozer and noahs play, maybe thats a good thing, why they ride the bench so damn much?

Taj had his moments, he did his usual hard hat and lunch pail work.

And john lucas, has now in my mind officially became a bull. I disliked his play, and probably still do, but i gotta admit, hes got heart, and he plays hard despite his obvious defeciences, im glad hes on teh bench…welcome to the bulls john lucas

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

by piccolomair on Jan 11, 2012 9:28 PM CST reply actions

i dont think so

if it wasnt the wiz i dont think his play would look so good. Im more impressed with jl3’s heart and effort as opposed to his skill set, i think if we had cj, there would have been no question the bulls win. I think with jl3 i always felt that they might come back in. Look at how many shots he took…. cj i think is a better scorer defender and while not as flashy, a lot better at running the offense

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

by piccolomair on Jan 11, 2012 9:33 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

Yeah, I think Rose really makes Deng better

Deng sucked on offense because he tried to iso Joe Johnson style (and he even got doubled sometimes). But when he plays with Rose he comes from an open lane and it’s money in the bank

by JustAnotherFan on Jan 11, 2012 9:31 PM CST up reply actions

Deng sucked on offense

because the dude just played 40 minutes a game for 10 games over two weeks. Deng is routinely unable to be good offensively on the second night of a back to back, but on the third? No chance.

by kbukie on Jan 11, 2012 9:32 PM CST up reply actions

He was also forced to become the first option offensively

which was unfortunate.

I can't tell if I should give KC credit...

He addressed the Noah thing, more than once…but in a way that sounded like he wanted Thibs to make an injury excuse for Noah.

At any rate, about struggles of the front court, Thibs basically said ‘this season’s gonna be weird . . . deal with it . . . ’

found this tidbit on the notebook on nba.com:
NOTABLE: Mike James, the point guard signed by the Bulls on Wednesday because of injuries to Rose and Watson, traveled Wednesday from Reno, Nev. (which was hosting the NBA’s D-League Showcase) to Los Angeles to Cleveland to Erie, Pa., where he plays for the Erie Bayhawks of the D-League. He then was told by the team that the Bulls wanted him in Chicago for Wednesday’s game. He then flew from Erie to Cleveland to Chicago and got to the United Center during the first quarter of the game. He played the final 40 seconds.

Look

by D-Cas on Jan 11, 2012 10:10 PM CST reply actions

Is Omer Asik simply better than Joakim?

Is that why Noah is looking so shitty? The explainating for boozer is that he just sucks. He is so soft. I almost shit my pants when he tried that power dunk, but then the next few times down the court he just went back to shooting 20 foot jumpers instead of working the post on those scrub wizard players. Last year when Noah was out Boozer took over games in the post with great post moves, spin moves, and creating shots from the post for Rose. This year there is NON OF THAT. I cant stand watching him. Seriously.

look: thibs is the best coach in the nba-- and i think there are some pretty good coaches

out there right now. but he really needs an intervention with deng. people do have limits, even elite athletes, and it almost looks like deng’s legs are too fatigued to shoot; hes either way short or he tries to overcompensate and clangs it off the rim joint. hes still an effective player because hes deng, but he needs to be able to shoot if this team is going anywhere.

All Thibs it is.
"Coach (Tom) Thibodeau was telling me to stay aggressive, don’t back off and don’t stop shooting," Lucas said after the Bulls’ third victory in three nights.
"He kept telling me if, `I’m open, shoot it. If I’m open, shoot it.’ I felt like I was shooting too much and then he got on me for not shooting the times I was open."
