I hear with PS3 your account gets hacked and the system shuts down for a month after people steal your credit cards

you pay for 360’s service, you get much better service with 360.

Thank you, you took the words out of my mouth.

I’ve been a “playstation guy” for years now, I’ve bought and sold about four ps3’s since it came out in ‘06 (don’t ask why). I don’t have a ps3 anymore and it’s ironic that i play 360 now (but i don’t own it, its for the fam, we have the Kinect to replace the wii). I like it but I still prefer ps3. Xbox fools ppl with its cheaper price, but they really make thier money from accessories, u have to pay extra for things that the ps3 already has (rechargeable controllers, for xbox u have to pay to do almost everything online, u have to buy certain headsets, while u can use any type of bluetooth with Ps3, etc., etc…) I really like 360, but i’m in love with sony, i miss my ps3… so if you get ps3, I’ll be happy for u and tell u that u made the right choice, if u get 360, thats not bad, u can play me online then lol

thx yall got me leaning to ps3

i used to be a ps guy till dreamcast came out with 2k and just got stuck with the control and game play but maybe its time to go back home

Woooooooooooooot!!

I also am a "playstation guy" for years just like you.

X Box is good and all, but its not as reliable as the PS3, I dont care for gameplay with the two since they are similar. My cuz has a 360 and almost died on him a few times, meanwhile i had zero problems with my ps3, free online play (except for those EA bastards charging me to play online for Madden, douchbags). But while the 360 is good, i bet if it weren’t for the Halo franchise the 360 wouldn’t be as big as it is now (but still would be good)

To get one thing straight, Live isn’t as safe as people make it out to be.

Accounts are hacked constantly (just google live account hacked). Heck, even the head of Live, Major Nelson, had his account hacked.

by cayal5 on Aug 1, 2011 11:59 PM CDT up reply actions

Eh

50 bucks isn’t a deal breaker in my opinion. I was a hardline Sony guy until I played Halo 3 on a Xbox 360. I feel its better, but both systems have their pros and cons.

360 has a higher failure rate

So i Went with the PS3, more reliable imo

ya that's why im leaning to the ps3

the extra monthly charge isnt really an issue (although D3K’s privacy comment raised my eyebrow), but i have a xbox360 and its been crap since i got 2k11 (which sucked cuz i never really got to enjoy it)

basically the only way i play is following this guys advice..although ive been tempted to try this guys

so ya…how is ur ps3 holding up and how long have you had it?

Woooooooooooooot!!

by Belize on Jul 21, 2011 3:10 PM CDT up reply actions

Had my PS3 for more than a year now

No issues or problems with it.

PS3 has built in wifi its basically a computer (but i wouldn’t use it full time as one) I think the newer 360 has wifi too. there are 12 vids who knows more than me this expert But they are kinda long. But my opinion I take the one thats more durable

I've had a PS3 since 2008

And it’s working great. Meanwhile at least 2 of my friend’s XBoxes have died. The built in Blu-ray player is nice too if you care about that.

by tuluse on Jul 21, 2011 4:12 PM CDT up reply actions

I remember some dude in youtube

Said he went through 5 XBoxes within a year (and is very pissed off about it) lol

i still have my original ps3 for 06'.

play it daily and only recently has it started making sound like its overheating. still works perfectly though. 5 years later. i have a 360 as well and it just feels like it will break at any moment.

by masputo on Jul 21, 2011 11:12 PM CDT up reply actions

Not with the new Xbox's though

they generally solved the overheating problem and now if it gets too hot it automatically shuts off rather than frying itself. Everyone has different experiences, I’ve got a friend that has fried two PS3’s and is on his third and wishes he’d just stayed with an Xbox.

They’re also really easy to take apart and fix, I’ve helped a buddy with his and it wasn’t hard at all.

by Yibs on Jul 21, 2011 8:11 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

I have both, and pretty much only play the 360.

The PS3 is primarily used as a Bluray player. I picked up Little Big Planet and God of War 3 when I got the PS3, but couldn’t really get into either game. I play MLB the Show now and then, but not too much. I got Metal Gear Solid 4 for like $10 at gamestop, and that will probably be the first PS3 game I thoroughly enjoy.

If you just play NBA 2k though, and don’t have a blu-ray player, the PS3 is the way to go. It’s a really top notch blu-ray player.

Nice summary

But you forget the one problem with the 360. Which is the failure rate is the highest among the game systems today.

yea but that doesnt apply to everyone

ive had an xbox since 2005 and the only reason ive had to swap it out or get a new one is cuz i modded it and got banned.

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

thx poco and andrew

really, im not much of a gamer anymore beyond sports games and maybe some call of duty and I dont have a bluray..so it does make more sense

Woooooooooooooot!!

by Belize on Jul 22, 2011 12:12 PM CDT up reply actions

yea in that case go ps3

you basically just have to a one time payment thing of getting the system and the game, and then no charges after that. If you arent a major online gamer already, i dont think owning xbox live is suddenly going to change that.

One wild card for a sports fan is XBOX Live TV

They already have ESPN 3 on XBOX, which has some NBA, MLB, had the past 2 world cup’s on it, tons of soccer, Euroleague basketball, and some other good stuff.

I don’t think they’ve announced content for XBOX Live TV yet, but I would assume there will be some good content available for sports fans on it.

I dont have a bluray

Do you mean you don’t have any movies on Blu-Ray? If that is it, well I wouldn’t expect you too if you don’t have a Blu-Ray player. It’s kind of a chicken and egg thing going on.

Anyways, nothing beats Blu-Ray in picture quality for video. Netflix “HD” streaming is a joke in comparison.

I actually think the PS3 software library is far superior

Pretty much the only exclusive games worth a damn on xbox are Halo and Forza.

Of course, I have a nice gaming PC, which changes things.

I think you are also overestimating how many more people are on xbox live compared with PSN. PSN is about 2/3 the size of Live. Which should be plenty of people to find a game with.

by tuluse on Jul 23, 2011 4:20 AM CDT up reply actions

You also forgot that PS3 exclusive shred 360 exclusives. Microsoft has essentially abandoned exclusive games for Kinect crap.

otherwise just another yr of 2k.

Also, I run an active online league for ps3 with website , if anyone looking for a team, let me know.

The covers are sick, but they're kinda milking it now.

Plus, if they’re planning on selling all 3 covers, I’d imagine MJ would be a pretty hard get in Chicago if they ship equally.

Inside the US

they said they’re planning to ship an equal amount of each cover. It’s only in other markets that they will go MJ only.

by runningman on Jul 21, 2011 7:13 PM CDT up reply actions

I wonder what they have planned for this game.

Are they just going to do Jordan, Bird, and Magic challenges like the last game?

Some ideas for the Jordan challenge:

-Beat Team Magic (1992 Dream Team practices) in a pickup game.
-Beat the Monstars and save the Looney Toons from enslavement at Moron Mountain.
-Score 51 points with Wizards Jordan against the Hornets

I would bet that the my player mode will be featured around these three players. Pick one, they all enter the current NBA, and they end up as rivals who you’re career is benchmarked against.

Just for surprising me, I'm getting the Larry Bird cover.

They had to reach back to a different era but I never really believed a white dude would ever grace an NBA game cover ever again. But here I am oddly and genuinely surprised.

But it would have to happen soon. Maybe NBA Live will do it.

I thought Rose would have a good shot at it this year, considering he already has promoted 2k in the past

But it looks like, after the way the last game sold, they wanted to try the same formula again

I was thinking that they were having problems with licensing and the lockout. Can players appear in endorsements in their teams gear right now?

by metalkiwis on Jul 24, 2011 7:13 AM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

Hmm, good question

Although I would think if they can appear in the actual game, they should be able to appear on the cover.
