Which veteran player would you sign for the minimum?
Especially if the season is shortened, maybe a veteran player would sign for the minimum for the chance to win a championship. The Bulls would be competing with Miami for such players, but the Bulls do have something to offer, especially to players who are not point guards or centers. So which of the following veteran players would you choose to sign for the minimum, if you had your choice? Or do you have a better way to spend the same money?

I can see Jamal
fitting the Jason Terry role of a guy who can come off the bench and provide instant offense.
Plus, he can help take off some of the ball handling duties from Rose.
I doubt this signing happening however as Crawford will probably want too much money and there is some negative history between the two sides.

Crawford would be an interesting gamble.
He’s instant offense, but seems uncoachable on defense. Even if he gave us all the assurances in the world, I just don’t see him changing his habits. But that offense is tempting. And heck, if he were willing to accept a minimum salary to win a championship, maybe he would also be willing to — aw, who are we kidding. It’s Jamal Crawford! He’ll never play defense. And when it counts the most, he’ll kill us with ill-advised shots.
Terry doesn't play defense either.
Yes he takes ill advised shots, but Thibs is pretty good at benching guys when they start hurting the team.

Yes, well, Terry is a mixed blessing.
He may have been the difference in 2011, but he also may have been the difference in 2006.

You know what made the difference?
Wade taking OVER NINE THOUSAND! free throws

I'm going with Battier, myself.
He’s just as good and significantly younger than Hill, who knows what to expect from Redd, and Crawford needs playing time but doesn’t play defense. Battier does not answer our prayers at SG, but he would be a valuable addition.

None of these guys are signing for the minimum except maybe Michael Redd
Pat Riley is the devil.

Well I'll take any one of these guys if they were willing to sign for the minimum
Pat Riley is the devil.
i would create a reality tv show
Stick each in a house with the rest of the bulls for a week. and then have the players vote one off every week based on which one has the least chemistry with them
Should've traded for Melo.

Terrible idea. They're all so humble they wouldn't vote anybody off...

Or they'd vote everyone off
and decide they they just can’t go without thier best bud Bogans in the starting 5 pukes
All of them, didn't I just say that
I guess if you forced me to pick one, I’d go with Hill
Pat Riley is the devil.
Hill is the most
versitle, Battier is a good defender, but doesn’t do much offensively, he is a one-deminisional shooter (only shoots from 1 spot on the court, if he is not in that spot he is useless)

that only makes it suck slightly less
I know we’re all going to struggle for content during the lockout, but impossibly +poll barely equals a post.

Okay, I guess I'll have to brush up on my hockey.
Or shudder football. Or maybe the other football. Anything but baseball.
LOL!! dealing with lockouts. ugh.
i’m with you on the hockey. I wore my Panthers (I know…) hat the other day as a statement: no basketball, no football, I’m watching hockey. I’ve also become a nut for soccer and actually sit here and watch Paraguay vs Ecuador. sadly, for the first time ever, baseball is not on my radar. I’m just waiting for the cheapskate Marlins to move into the new digs next year.
I really haven’t considered Jamal too much. I think this team is at a point where they can possibly sacrifice some D to get good offense. one of the things I said before the Finals in a favor of the Mavs possibly winning was that whatever the Mavs gave up on D in comparison to the Bulls, they more than made up for on offense and would rarely go through those lulls the Bulls seemed to experience in every playoffs game. the Bulls are strong defensively at 4 out of 5 starting positions. with arguably better defensive players in the second unit, why not just take a chance on a guy like Crawford. we don’t need a backup SF in FA. I’m hoping this kid Butler can spell Lu and I don’t understand why Thibs doesn’t have Brewer spell Lu more.
From the slums of Thibs, Lu-Deng Clan strikes again. We got the Brewza, the Booza, Ol' Dirty Bogans, InspektAsik, Watson the Chef, U-Taj, Jo-Face Killah, and D-E-R(R)-I-C-K Rose!

So this is just for the sake of hypotheticals, right?
Because the new CBA might not even have vet minimums.
And imo we have the advantage over the Heat for these ring chasing vet types.
Like, I can’t see Hill or Battier signing with Miami. It’s just not their style. Players want to win, but a lot of them would rather sign with us than Miami. Sure, the weather is nicer down there, but there’s just so much more ego/problems on that team and hatred towards them from, well, almost everyone.

rings are rings
if they are title chasing theyll sign with the team that gives them the best chance and right now thats miami.
if its someone who has a good 4-5 years left in them then i could see them picking us maybe but right now miami is a better option for a guy on the tail end of their career if theyre looking for a one season deal
Should've traded for Melo.
Blah blah blah.

I disagree with that
Yeah these guys want to win a championship, but I’m assuming they also want to be key contributors to winning that championship. They don’t want to be Juwan Howard and ride the bench all year. At least, I would think so.
Pat Riley is the devil.
I agree...

Crawford has pulled ahead of Battier.
I guess we really are desperate for offense.
I’m not that desperate. ABC — anyone but Crawford.
Well, I shouldn't say that. I'm not enthused about Redd, either.
And I think Hill is too old. Battier for me.
Michael Redd
i love grant hill but i wouldn’t really consider him a threat 3-pt wise and he is wayyy too old, jamal crawford is too inconsistant and he dosen’t play like a players our coach wants, i consider him as a street ball player (all offense, flashy but inconsistent, terrible defense) and i can’t picture him lasting a full season without problems, shane battier is more of a SF imo and we will probably use jimmy butler so i say michael redd, he’s the best shooter out of them all, good hungry veteran dat will look for a shot and the bulls will give him the best opportunity, i dont see him as a problem i c him as a kurt thomas type for our team, and honestly, he’s the most realistic choice, so y not?
