as much as i joked on him, he played more better than they did consistently. Boozer for Bosh,. get it done gar

Wade always will be my favorite.

There’s just something about Bosh’s personality that drives me crazy. I don’t want him on the Bulls and I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Agreed.

Give me Boozer any day over Bosh. I’m sure there are a lot of reasons to pick Bosh over Boozer, but I just can’t stand the guy.

Bosh bodied Boozer with a sprained ankle and a torn ligament in his toe.

Will Bosh continue to do that to a healthy Boozer? I don’t know, but I’ll take my chances with Boozer over Bosh.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 13, 2011 2:22 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, the 3 regular season matchups weren't swayed either way.

And Boozer was clearly ailing in the playoffs.

Which is the real reason to prefer Bosh

He’s likely to be healthy.

Still don’t want him though.

by tuluse on Jun 13, 2011 2:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Gimme Bosh every day of the week.

He fits much better alongside Derrick (great pick and pop player) and wouldn’t clog up the lane for Joakim.

by dakoose on Jun 13, 2011 5:26 PM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

Yea, but no one expected Noah and Boozer to struggle together before the season as much as they did.

It’s almost impossible to predict how players are going to play along side each other.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 13, 2011 5:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Thats not the point.

The poster above asked if you’d rather have Bosh or Booz, and to me it’s not all that close. Bosh all the way, no matter how much Booz impressed Jo in some lobby downtown.

by dakoose on Jun 13, 2011 6:32 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

But you brought up the point about how Bosh fits better with Rose and Noah.

I don’t see how there’s any way you could know that before they play a single game along side each other.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 13, 2011 7:48 PM CDT up reply actions

I just don't think replacing Boozer with Bosh makes this team much better.

If that trade was made do you think that makes the Bulls much better than last year and a favorite to win it all?

by Fergie3108 on Jun 14, 2011 12:28 AM CDT up reply actions

I think the Bulls would have won it all this year

if Bosh were here instead of that loud mouth, idiot fouler, pathetic ass defender and con-man Carlos Boozer.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 3:20 PM CDT up reply actions   2 recs

He bought into their defense in a way

that Booz hasn’t, or isn’t capable of. Booz stuck out like a sore thumb defensively when he was on the court; I didn’t much of that from Bosh, and I watched damn near every Miami playoff game.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 3:36 PM CDT up reply actions

I guess I rarely ever noticed Bosh on defense.

I think James, Wade, and Anthony do a better job of hiding Bosh defensively than the Bulls do with Boozer.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 14, 2011 3:42 PM CDT up reply actions

I disagree about the hiding part,

but for arguments sake, I’d say its because Bosh is much easier to hide.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 3:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Do you say that because you think he's better on defense or because of his height?

I think both Bosh and Boozer share the same lateral quickness problems. Both are slow to adjust to quicker defenders.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 14, 2011 4:06 PM CDT up reply actions

Better on defense.

He’s definitely quicker laterally than Booz, you can see that both on defense and with some of his blow-by’s on offense.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 4:15 PM CDT up reply actions

The one thing Boozer has on Bosh is strength.

Obviously part of that strength was compromised with his multiple leg/foot injuries in the playoffs, but he’s still stronger than Bosh. Players don’t bully Booze, they usually just go around him. I feel that the opposite is true with Bosh. That people don’t go around him, they usually choose to go through him.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 14, 2011 4:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Lol, so not true.

Boozer’s strength is non-existent on defense. He (sometimes) uses his size on offense, but on defense he’s got popcorn muscles, a la Joey Porter. He doesn’t even use his body as a defender, he just uses an arm on his defender’s back and usually starts retreating at the first sign of a legitimate post up.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 4:36 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

I guess I never noticed that all of the time.

That is true when he’s in foul trouble though. As soon as he collects two fouls, he attempts defense with even less effort.

by Fergie3108 on Jun 14, 2011 5:44 PM CDT up reply actions

Rec'd

I agree with all your arguments for Bosh over Boozer. This was the one match-up that everyone expected the Bulls to dominate during the ECF and we know how that turned out. The fact that Boozer refuses to use his size on defense is what kills me about his performance. Being injured is not an excuse for simply failing to try at all on defense especially when you have the tools to be an okay defender (namely size). People want to blame Rose for our ECF loss when he clearly tried everything he could and gave it his ALL, yet Boozer gets a pass b/c he was "injured". GTFOH

by roseyposey on Jun 15, 2011 7:35 AM CDT up reply actions

Bosh is longer and way more athletic than Boozer

He’s by no means a great defender, but he’s a clear step up from Boozer.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jun 15, 2011 10:00 AM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

Historically Boozer has actually been a better jump shooter than Bosh

In Utah he had the elbow jumper down.

I don’t think the extra foot or two that Bosh has in his range would really that huge of a help.

by tuluse on Jun 14, 2011 1:06 AM CDT up reply actions

His eFG% on 82games.com

Usually it’s higher than Bosh’s. Pretty close but generally higher.

by tuluse on Jun 14, 2011 2:13 PM CDT up reply actions

Well, that

doesn’t mean anything. Per Basketball-Reference that stat was designed to adjust for the value of three point shooting. Boozer’s FG% is higher than Bosh’s and that’s the only reason he has a higher eFG%. Its no secret that Booz, throughout his career, is a higher percentage shooter; he’s more of a post player than Bosh and has also been in a perfect pick and roll situation with Sloan and DWill (tons of easy finishes). Furthermore, he’s never been the first option that Bosh has been, and first options have to take all of the tough shots, lowering one’s FG% and, in turn, eFG%.

by dakoose on Jun 14, 2011 2:55 PM CDT up reply actions

For the last three years,

Booz has posted eFG% on jump shots of .380, .448 and .387. Bosh has posted .435, .444, .436. The eye-test says that Bosh is the better shooter, and the numbers over the last few years confirm it as well.

Once he realized that, and got his act together, he made strides.

So where does he land next year?

There will be so many teams competing for his services, can the Mavs afford to keep him? Even if he is willing to take a discount to get more championships, there still may be other contenders who can offer him more money — including the Heat!

by Tim S. on Jun 13, 2011 12:14 AM CDT reply actions

Noah should be able to do what Chandler does.

The big issue for both of them, really, is health. Chandler was healthier this year, but that hasn’t always been the case.

by Tim S. on Jun 14, 2011 9:02 AM CDT up reply actions

Can they afford him?

What are you talking about? No one can offer him “more money.” Are you making stuff up?

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Tyson Chandler is an unrestricted free agent.

I’m sure he wants to re-sign with Dallas and Dallas wants to re-sign him, but don’t you think there will be competition for his services?

Yeah but Chandler literally does nothing on offense

Noah’s a far better passer and is good for the occasional drive to the hoop or post-up. Chandler was better than Noah last year, but not by a ton.

Pat Riley is the devil.

by Poloplaya14 on Jun 15, 2011 10:27 AM CDT up reply actions

He does not "literally do nothing on offense."

For one, in five less minutes per game than Joakim, he averaged just 1.5 ppg and 1 rpg less. He’s got more length and strength than Jo and has better hands around the rim. He’s also a fantastic lob catcher and is more explosive than Jo, as well as more disciplined defensively; how many dumb fouls did you see Chandler commit against Miami? Now ask yourself the same question about Jo.

Jo is a better passer, but in terms of scoring Tyson was nearly as productive and shot 65% to Jo’s 52% from the field. They are also equally efficient from the free throw line.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 12:59 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah but look how long it's taken chandler to get there

yeah, he was younger than joakim was when he came into the league, but he would routinely foul out in under 20 minutes of play. jo still has a lower foul rate per 36 than chandler does now.

Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

by Jaina on Jun 15, 2011 1:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Thats not the argument, though.

Sure, it took Tyson a long time to get it together, but I’m talking about the here and now.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 1:55 PM CDT up reply actions

how many dumb fouls did you see Chandler commit against Miami?

I saw quite a few actually, called and uncalled.

He seemingly could not resist shoving players in the back on rebound attempts, and he was in foul trouble in multiple games.

by tuluse on Jun 15, 2011 1:51 PM CDT up reply actions

He played 30+ minutes in all of the games(averaged 27 in the reg season),

had two games of 38 minutes and two games of 40+ minutes. He managed his fouls just fine. And in terms of dumb fouls I’m talking about fouls that come as a result of poor discipline, like dumb reach ins and falling for pump fakes.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 1:57 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't consider that a dumb foul,

as players these days are taught to dive any time there’s contact to the their back when they’re not in great position for the rebound. It’s been an epidemic in the league for years now.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 2:19 PM CDT up reply actions

I just don't think it's necessarily a

“dumb” foul, nor does it stem from a lack of discipline or bad defensive tendencies. Reaching in and falling for pump fakes, on the other hand, do.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 4:22 PM CDT up reply actions

He shoved players in the back

On free throw attempts where the ball didn’t land anywhere near him or the guy he shoved.

If that’s not the definition of a dumb foul, I don’t know what is.

by tuluse on Jun 15, 2011 4:27 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't recall seeing that

and given your propensity for mis-seeing things (see above), I don’t buy it. JK :)

by tuluse on Jun 15, 2011 5:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't get using the term 'efficiency' when someone's offense is strictly putbacks and lobs.

It’s great that he doesn’t attempt shots that he can’t make, but I don’t think it makes him better than Noah regardless of what he did this season.

by Dr. Handsome, D.D.S. on Jun 15, 2011 12:20 PM CDT up reply actions

Of course it matters.

Noah took a lot of shots he shouldn’t take and thats why his percentage is fifteen points lower. Tyson, on the other hand, turned down those opportunities and allowed other, better scorers take those shots.

by dakoose on Jun 15, 2011 1:58 PM CDT up reply actions

If Noah could make those putbacks and lobs he'd be a better player? I'm not sure how that's so hard to get.

When Rose was trapped, the Bulls got literally nothing in the paint because Noah and Boozer were so bad at converting at the rim.

by Ozzie Montana on Jun 15, 2011 2:34 PM CDT up reply actions

So you're saying that if you put Chandler in Noah's position

we’re suddenly converting more? I don’t see how that makes any kind of since considering Rose’s closest (and usually best) outlet in those situations was to get it to Noah in the high post and run from there. Is Chandler effective at all in the high post? No.

noah's usage is clearly higher, but not by so much that your point holds.
