This is my first fan post so I apologize in advance if it sucks or breaks any rules :) Now that we've all had time to digest the end of the post season I would like to pose a few questions to you all in an attempt to clear up this notion of Thibs being out coached. I've heard this sentiment a lot on ESPN and read it in various news articles. How do you guys feel about Thibs coaching during the ECF?
Let me preface these questions by saying that my basketball IQ is pretty low, which is why I want to know what you guys think:
- Why not play Butler when it was obvious that Korver was struggling? I've watched a couple of games when Butler came in at garbage time and hit a couple of 3s w/o even having to be in rhythm. While I don't know much of anything about his overall game he seems to function in much the same way as Korver and his 2010-2011 season stats pretty much matched Korver's output in this series. Is there any overarching reason that I don't know about (perhaps defense worse than Korver) as to why he didn't get 1 min of playing time? Just wondering...
- Why did the series take such a drastic turn after game 1? Was it really the reemergence of Haslem (an accidental occurrence at best if you ask me.) It was a desperation move by Coach Spolestra that happened to pan out in his favor in game 2. Can this really be used as evidence that Coach Spo outcaoched Thibs?
- Was coach Thibs too strict with his rotations? I thought that maybe Kurt Thomas should have played more mins earlier in the series b/c of his somewhat dependable offensive production and maybe an intimidation factor but this could be my low basketball IQ rearing its ugly head. What say you?
- Lastly how would you grade Thibs performance in this series?
