Does it make more sense to go after a SG in the draft or sign a 30 yr old Jason Richardson or 25 yr old JR Smith? Would it be easier to find a player to buy into Thibs couching philosophy and follow Rose and Noah's work ethic if he is 21/22. Retreads have a shorter shelf life, carry more baggage, and are harder to train the Chicago way. There is a difference between signing players like Watson, Korver, and Brewer v. signing a B/ B- player like Richardson or Smith. Boozer is a good example of signing a B/B- player who is too old to be retrained.
We probably can trade up to get a pick in the teens with the stash of picks we already have.
I would only trade up to get Marshon Brooks or Alec Burks who are the best two SG IMHO.
Klay Thompson, Tyler Honeycutt are teir 2
Malcolm Lee and Iman Shumpert are teir 3.
- Tim Grover has compared Brooks to Kobe Bryant with a proven track record in the Big East, great upside, and most NBA ready game. 7 foot wingspan and second leading scorer in the nation.
- Burks is rated as the best all-around SG in the Draft with the highest ceiling.
- Thompson is the best shooter and Honeycutt has a great NBA frame and NBA athleticism.
- Lee and Shumpert are the best sleeper combo guards. Both are strong and can play both guard positions
-
- Many scouts are saying Lee will follow in Westbrooks footsteps.
- Shumpert is a Chicago kid who plays a lot like a 6'6" Rose.
- Both are great defenders with great strength and tenacity.
- Many scouts are saying Lee will follow in Westbrooks footsteps.
