He obviously meant

the guy was a student at a British public school who is required to perform menial tasks for a student in a higher class.

Want to get pissed off,

then bring that anger to the floor.

I don't always block shots, but when I do....I block yours.

The NBA Playoffs - always the best reminder why Joakim Noah is my fav Bull

by Belize on May 23, 2011 5:45 PM CDT reply actions

If they have audio of Noah saying it, than that's fine.

But I don’t buy the whole lip reading thing. If one of these guys were to say that they said flucking flags, with no audio evidence, why should they be fined? If TNT or the NBA’s own video crew or whatever can provide them audio though, that’s a different story.

I actually agree with Andrew here...

If they are going to start fine guys on the bench for lip reading violations, why not review the entire game film for other instances, and the next time Lebron calls Korver a “B**** N*****” he can fined $100K.

My problem is the NBA is selectively fining only the guys on the bench…which sends the message “don’t get caught” rather than “don’t be a homophobe”

7 for 7.

That insult wouldn't make sense, so that fine would be completely justified.

Also, Lebron should know to call him hot sauce or Ashton. A little respect goes a long way.

by cubbybear on May 24, 2011 12:41 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah that is my issue too

i was actually opposed to the kobe fine on the same grounds. he shouldn’t be punished because it was on tv. he should be punished since that kind of language shouldn’t be tolerated. but if they’re only fining people who have the misfortune of being on camera, it’s pretty dumb.

Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

ugh people are so fricken sensitive

50k?? seriously?? I am sure the trashy drunk miami fan yelled something way worse to Noah to get that type of a response. If players are fined than so should the dumbass fans too.

by julz0512 on May 23, 2011 6:16 PM CDT reply actions

Wish I could say I agree with this.

Noah has to be smarter. Bottom line. Especially with the NBA on a anti-gay discrimination kick right now. He needs to focus and not worry about what others are saying. I’m sure he was called something very bad but he needs to be smarter than that.

They all do for that matter. Please no more trash talk. Not with this team.

Jo misspoke. He meant to say:

“When I miss your lips, I’ll put a FIG in my mouth and think of you.”

they had the jackass in the stands that Jo yelled at on the radio down here yesterday

i’m one to think professional athletes should always keep the cooler heads and tune out fans, but this asswipe was on the radio saying he and his friend were “doing their part as fans” to rattle the Bulls and went specifically after Jo, calling him several profane words and such, got the reaction they wanted from Jo, and then were even approached by security to calm their drunk asses down.
I personally hate this uber-PC friendly world we live in today because I personally like and use edgy commentary (i taught high school for about a year and those kids HATED my politics) and I think this thing is overblown. but I think the fine is ok. Kobe gets suspended because he said it to an official, a fellow
employee of the league, and at any workplace that person would be fired, but in this instance it was at a spectator, who doesn’t have to adhere to the same etiquette. in other words, a fan can go and purposefully provoke knowing they’re not getting fined or suspended.

It's a cartel

The NBA can supress civil rights as long as the participants accept it. The players union takes it too.

It’s pretty shitty if you ask me. Of course, what’s to stop a cartel within a cartel from forming? The unpaid, unknown, Noah Justice league travels with him at their own expense exacting precise justice on heckling fans by which I mean it would be a damn shame if a group of fans tripped while carrying a handful of beers on some poor unsuspecting heckler behind the Bulls bench.

Hammurabi’s Law can work here.

I can predict the future using Norm Van Lier's crystal balls.

Ok, so you go around calling homosexuals fags? Hurl other choice slurs at minority groups? I’m amazed when incidents like this happen and people come out of the woodwork to essentially defend ignorance. Noah got unlucky as hell because the cameras are focused on players 24/7 and in our country people believe a paid ticket gives you the right to act like a complete jackass. He still said a shitty thing, even if he was provoked.

no, what a meant is I'm ok with dark humor or commentary that pushes the envelope

sometimes I might fall victim to tasteless humor, but always in confidence with my closest of friends. but no, I don’t go screaming nonsense at people. but I also don’t get bent out of shape when others do, because ultimately that’s their problem. I guess I’m trying to say I’m not as sensitive to it. trust me, I’ve worked and still work in the theatre my whole life. homosexual slurs are NOT acceptable. if fans wanna heckle and get in players’ heads, go watch a baseball game.

This shouldn't be news whatsoever. If you're offended, oh well.

Hats off to Noah for dealing with this like a man.

There are a lot of players who would not have gone this route. He is accepting the consequences and seems to be more worried about how it affects the team than himself.

This is yet another example of why he is my favorite player? No, not because of the words he used but because he is owning up to it like a pro. He’ll learn from this and leave it better.
