Poll- question- could we had a better plan?

 Hi everyone,

Today i asked Sam Smith in official Bulls website and he not answered my question with his opinion, but with the reality. Well, i will post the question here and i want your thoughts guys. Thanks

Name: Fernando
Question/Comment: Hi Sam. I know, this team is a surprise, no one expected that 62 win season, and all that talk. But i want to know if im is all wrong about that. I´m always in favor of build in the draft, and i think we had good players in recent drafts. Iknown too we can´t re-sign all our guys every time. But just thinking, if we have this year our team of 2 years ago, that team who lost the 7 game series to the Celtics( with Thibodeau as a coach we had beat that celtics team that year for sure), i think we could beat this Heat team and be the NBA champions this year for sure. With D-Rose- Ben Gordon/K.Hinrich- Deng- Tyrus Thomas/Taj Gibson- Noah/Asik/K.Thomas rotation, i think we had a better team. I know Boozer is the so- called post presence, but i think we not need that if we had BG hot like ever here. And Tyrus is way better in d, and finishes strong too. Gibson is playing well. Kirk could defend and hit the open 3. he rotates in 3 man rotation with Rose and BG. Deng play high minutes and we could put Butler in his place for few minutes. Brad Miller was good, but expensive, Kurt thomas plays like him and is cheaper. And asik is a monster in D. With TT defense, this team could be very good, and Rose have BG, Hinrich and Deng to hit shots for him. Noah, and Tyrus or Taj crashing the boards.Much people talk we need another star. I think BG was that star on offense with his clutch, and Hirinch that star on D.These two combine in one star. Your thoughts please. Thanks for the attention.

 Sam Answer:

that's all past
you have to move forward as they made those decisions

If we assume zero growth, it's a push.

Tyrus was and is insane. Maybe Thibs could have pulled something together from him, but probably not. So that’s a weaker front court on average. BG, as much fun as he was to watch, didn’t play defense. At all. I would LOVE to have Captain Kirk back as our starting 1, pushing DRose to the 2 where he can better use his athleticism. Or, at the very least, run hybrid sets where either DR or Kirk can run the 1 with the other running the 2, depending on the situation. Kirk is NOT a better shooter than Korver. His defense is probably on par with Brewer/Bogans. Overall, it’ll be a slightly more talented, but far less deep, team as compared to the one we currently see.

Tyrus finishes hard than Boozer, period...

Also plays a way better D, and block shots. Hinrich have way better d than bogans. He shoots better than Bogans and Brewer for sure. I never said he shoots better than Korver, but BG shoots way better than Korver, especially in clutch situations. Also BG is better defender than Boozer. He could easily guard mike bibby/ Chalmers and slide Rose on wade when Kirk is off. And how could thats not deep as current rotation? Asik, K.Thomas, Taj, all could be ther too. Even bogans could be a part of these roster. I never mentioned maintain salmons or B.Miller because the salary cap. The only thing we dont have in this situational is a post scorer.

we miss tyruses athletisim, kirk was a better shooter and defender than bogans/brew.

And bg was just as clutch as korver, and unlike boozer was not soft. Just don’t know if rose becomes an mvp ,fighting for shots with bg.

BG clutch as korver?

are u kidding me? Korver is horrible in the last 2 series. I dont see him a better defender than BG exept in size. BG is a real scorer, not just a shooter, and he could be used like ray allen by TT.

no doubt bg was hella clutch

I just think rose’s game would be altered without a submissive supporting cast. But I’ll take a championship over his mvp award any day.

yeah

and he is missing guys who could make plays and draw attention too. BG is this guy. Witha all guys locking the paint, BG always be wide open 3 for him.

and boozer $ !@#!@# million

for nothing better than Tyrus and Taj. With saved money of boozer, korver, brewer, we can sign BG, Kirk and Tyrus.

Of course this is all in hindsight

Because if the Bulls knew they were going to get Carlos Boozer and a bunch of role players in free agency, they never would have traded away all those assets to clear salary cap.

The Bulls thought they had a legitimate shot at LeBron and/or Wade, but who knew those two were just playing everyone from the start.

Besides, I think everyone is overvaluing Tyrus Thomas. I personally think Thibs would go nuts trying to coach him.

tyrus thomas was a force of nature

Fundamentally flawed but shawn kemp type athleticism and a don’t give a fuck attitude that might be missing on this current team. Oh well this shit is hypothetical, we got to win this next game with what we got.
