Guys, after watching yesterday game, and seeing how close it was (they finish on a 14-2 run, it was a tied game before that), I was thinking what can we do to neutralize the Heat lineup in the last minutes - basically it's LeBron, Wade, Miller/Jones, Bosh and Haslem. They have scorers, good ball movement, mid-range big man shooters (Bosh and Haslem), great defense (LeBron and Haslem) and good rebounding, which seem to negate all our advantages.
To which I say: What if we go big - like REALLY big?
I think we can all agree that Udonis Haslem was a huge factor in the Heat win: he helped them rebound better, improve their defense and was hitting the mid-range shot, which made the Bulls big men pay when they tried to camp the middle. So, if we add LeBron and Wade' driving, Bosh mid-range shooting and Jones/Miller long-range shooting, plus the defense they bring, they're a terrible matchup for the Bulls.
So, I was having an idea to fight it: trotting a BIG lineup, one that would allow us to defend the paint, get to their shooters and avoid penetration. I know this sounds like an ideal scenario, but I believe we're capable to do it.
The lineup would be as follows: Rose-Deng-Gibson-Noah-Asik. We can have Luol on Dwyane and Taj on LeBron (I honestly believe Taj can do a good job on LeBron), while letting Rose guard Miller/Jones. This lineup would allow us to have at least one two bigs in the paint all the time, while having Dwyane and LeBron make tough shots if they drive because of Noah and Asik. AND, we have great rebounders in case to negate their (Haslem, LeBron, Bosh) rebounding.
Offensively? Yeah, we'll have a lot of problems. But I think running multiple picks and rolls with Noah and Asik, and pick and pops with Taj and Luol, we'll have at least a decent performance (I'll be happy with a 1 point per possession at this point).
P.S. Tell me what you think. And don't be to harsh :).
