Weird Stats Discussion
I always find it interesting to look up stats on basketball-reference to try and make my own conclusions on players. No im not Hollinger, I back up my statistical analysis along with actually watching the game.
I was looking at Monta's splits..
Games at home: 28 ppg, 6.3 apg, 4 rpg on 48% shooting, 41% 3 pt shooting and 81% FT
wtf...I've never seen such a difference between playing at home and on the road.
+7 points, +1.3 apg, -0.2 rpg, + 7% fg shooting, +10% 3pt shooting..
Paul Pierce is almost identical home and away...
Home- 18.8 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 3.3 asts pg, 502 FGA, 49.8% FG, 37.0% 3P, 41 steals, 113 personal fouls
Away- 18.9 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 3.2 asts pg, 505 FGA, 49.1% FG, 37.0% 3P, 37 steals, 114 personal fouls
<<as a couple examples>>
Also, another interesting thing I found when discussing Kobe vs Lebron (hate this discussion tbh) (about rest days)
Kobe:
0 Days Rest: 27.5 PPG (51.7 FG%), 1.9/4.7 3 PT (40.7%), 5.7 REB, 4.7 AST, 1.6 STL
1 Days Rest: 24.2 PPG (43.3 FG%), 1.2/4.2 3 PT (29.5%), 5.0 REB, 4.6 AST, 1.1 STL
2 Days Rest: 28.4 PPG (45.8 FG%), 1.8/5.0 3 PT (35.0 %), 4.9 REB, 5.0 AST, 1.0 STL
3 Days Rest: 22.7 PPG (44.4 FG%), 1.2/4.2 3 PT (28.0 %), 4.0 REB, 5.0 AST, 1.7 STL
Kobe has his most efficient games when they're on a back-to-back despite his diminished athleticism, but he has his worst games when he has the most rest (3 days)...kind of weird. I guess it's a rhythm thing for him, if he's playing on a back to back he has the rhythm..and the fact that he doesn't practice, so 3 days of rest is sh$t for him.
EDIT: It's the complete opposite with Lebron, he thrives on 3 days of rest...I guess that's because his game is heavily dependent on athleticism, while Kobe's is dependent on rhythm
DOUBLE EDIT: Just wanted some other people to contribute their findings as well, I enjoy this kind of discussion about weird stats.

Finesse vs Athletes
Dirk has a similar distribution for days rest.
0 days – 24.1 ppg
1 day – 21.9 ppg
2 days – 26.5 ppg
3+ days – 17.2 ppg
Did you guys hear about the new Lebron James Iphone?
You have to keep it on vibrate because it has no rings.
I think games on 3+ days rest are a statistical anomaly
I just skimmed over the Lakers’ schedule, and saw only 3 games in which they played on 3+ days rest. So for a career, Kobe Bryant may have only played 50 games on 3+ days rest. That’s too small a sample size for me to draw any conclusions.
I was going to make a FanPost about "Season-low" points scoring for Top 10 Scorers...
…after seeing Chris Paul scored 0 points in a game the other night.
But I’ll just put it here, since it’s a weird stat, and no one else would have cared.
Season Low in Points:
Durant: 16
Stoudemire: 14
LeBron: 12
Kobe: 9
Kevin Martin: 8
Rose: 6
Dwight Howard: 6
Melo: 6
Wade: 3
Monta Ellis: 2

and that rose game was after he got undercut by brandon rush.
and he just passed it to boozer all night to the tune of 34 pts lol.
Look
I didn’t want to offend anyone by saying the "f" word or generalizing my statement to any particular sex by saying "gays" or lesbians" or "bi’s" so "homos" is the most "politically correct" term. I’m just trying to be more tact in a tactless blog.

Here is a really, really weird stat!
Okay, a simple "wrong" would've done just fine.

I will say, though
that if you get rid of blocks and put in something like 3 assists, Howard goes away and you get a bunch of Kareem, Chamberlain, and Barkley, with Kareem and Chamberlain playing back when they didn’t record blocks.
