Scouting the Nuggets

Watching the Thunder/Nuggets game right now & wondering who would fit in best with the Bulls at the 2 seeing as the have quite a few available options this summer.....

Arron Afflalo - Restricted Free Agent

Assets
  • A mature player with a solid frame and game. Strong fundamentally and a very polished jump-shooter with good three-point range. Will hit big shots.
Flaws
  • While not small or slow he's not particularly big or fast for an NBA 2-guard. He could stand to pass the ball more, and while smart defensively he's not a shut-down guy.

J.R. Smith - Unrestricted Free Agent

Assets
  • A phenomenal natural athlete, he is also a highly coordinated and skilled player. A pure scorer who can dominate going to the hoop or hitting from beyond the arc. His passing is underrated and he flashes a knack for steals.
Flaws
  • Can carry a team for one game and disappear the next. His defensive effort has been challenged by his coaches. Sometimes goes for the flashy play instead of the efficient one. Not a great free-throw shooter. Has had off-court issues.

Wilson Chandler - Unrestricted Free Agent

Assets
  • Mixes good size and athleticism with coordination and a solid skill-level. Can play anywhere from shooting guard to power forward. Does it all, from blocking shots to hitting threes.
Flaws
  • A bit inconsistent and doesn't stand out in any one area. While he can score like a shooting guard and rebound like a power forward he might benefit by establishing a more clear role.

Personally I think the best bet would be going after Wilson Chandler. I think the player with the biggest potential here is probably Arron Affalo. But he seems sort of injury prone & as a restricted free agent, Denver is sure to match what we would be able to offer. J.R. Smith is too inconsistent to me....watching this game right now (Thunder/Nuggets Game 2)  when the Nuggets were down 20....J.R. tried to take the game over.....taking every wild shot in the book! While its true when he's on he's ON...he is off in this game & that doesn't matter to him.....he's STILL jacking up crap! Though Wilson's Offense is not on in this game either....he still seems more controlled & is not taking wild shots....just missing open looks. An athletic 6-8....When the Nuggets beat the Lakers....Wilson was on Kobe & i thought defended him REALLY well. I also think he'd be more affordable then J.R. or Arron. But this is just summer talk to fix our gaping hole at 2 (& fill in time before our game tomorrow night, lol) GO BULLS!
