Ray Allen a Bull?

I was listening to the B.S. Report and Simmons mention the Bulls wanted to add Ray Allen, or something along those lines. I remember there being some rumors going around as well about Allen and the Bulls but Boston made him an offer I guess for one more run.

Like Simmons said Allen would be perfect along side Rose.

Of course this would be a long shot because Ray Allen has a 2 year contract with the Celtics. The interesting part is apparently he can opt out.

The Celtics really are starting to remind me of the 2000's Piston teams that were once really great but just stayed together too long.

With a hint that this might be the Lakers and Celtics last stand as Phil would say could Ray Allen opt out?

Could the Bulls then afford him?

Earlier this week Sam Smith explained why the Bulls signed Pargo and Lucas 3.

Bulls add Pargo and Lucas, but why?
-- Jannero Pargo and John Lucas III? Huh? Or something like that I’ve been asked sincethe Bulls announced their signings Sunday. Actually, it’s a very clever move if it is what I think it is. I wish I would have thought of it. The Bulls are going to have a very difficult time coming out of this next labor agreement—whenever that is—of improving their roster. Their likely won’t be another mid-level exception as league records show it to be the most egregious of contracts for money versus production. And with the extension for Derrick Rose, the Bulls would be way over whatever cap figure the NBA comes up with having four eight-figure annual players in Rose, Luol Deng, Carlos Boozer and Joakim Noah.

So this is what I think the Bulls did. I don’t expect either Lucas or Pargo to play, given C.J. Watson has been adequate as a point guard backup and coach Tom Thibodeau has made it clear in the non-use of Rasual Butler he is going with the guys who got the team to this point. I expect Pargo and Lucas to be inactive the rest of the season, though they are playoff eligible in case of an injury. They agreed to non-guaranteeddeals, similar to Keith Bogans’ contract, though for less money. So this is what the Bulls can do after July 1 to get a player. The thinking around the NBA is the new labor deal may force teams to shed some players like we saw in the NHL. The Bulls could build up, effectively, a $5 million form of a trade exception with the non-guaranteed contacts of Bogans, Lucas and Pargo, and if the rules remain similar, perhaps have the 125 percent so-called fudge factor in trades. The Bulls then could absorb a player making $5 million and the team giving him up could then cut the players they get back as the Bulls would likely throw in some incentive, like a draft pick. For about $5 million, you can get a quality starter and it would be just for these pieces. Otherwise, the Bulls would be in no position to add that kind of player. There’s no guarantee, obviously, but it potentially puts the Bulls in position to add a higher level talent than they would have been able to under what everyone expects the new rules to be. Not bad.

Maybe he'd be a little too rich for the Bulls blood or maybe JR pays the man because it's a legit title team and thats worth paying for as he's stated in the past.

While Ray Allen isn't the greatest defender in the NBA he's GREATEST 3 POINT SHOOTER IN HISTORY!

Besides Thibs has worked with him before. He's old but he takes great care of his body so maybe you could get two more season out of him.

Still it would probably take a small miracle but if I'm Thibs and Paxson I'm watching that situation in Boston and maybe we can help contribute to his departure in Boston by beating them in the playoffs.

Could you imagine a Bulls team with Ray Allen?

Never know.. Anything is possible!!!

Ray allen is the only celtics player i like

and i cant see him leaving boston for anything. Hes just too classy, plus not really a ring chaser. Hes just a pro, his job is to knock down 3s and help his team win, i dont think the bulls can really offer him a huge contract either.

any thoughts on matt caroll (got him in 2k11, and gotta say im pleased with his performance)

I have the Wii and 2K11 like all the Wii basketball games so far

Just really stinks….it’s too damn hard. I like to make a superteam and destroy other teams, but I tried and tired and while I win it’s always by a point, which just isn’t fun in videogame land against a CPU.

It's almost 2011 Bulls. Let's Get Grimy!!!

this is the first year where I'm not playing any kind of season/ association mode

the My Player/ My Crew game modes are addicting and just fun as hell. it’s the online gaming experience I always wanted from a basketball game, besides just regular head2head. but make a player, skill him up, and then play with your buddies online using the My Player against other crews… I’ve been hooked this year.
only downside is too many hackers on the xbox version. you don’t wanna have to try and block a 40ft tall Chris Paul, do you?

i cant get into my player mode

i started playing it but then i get to this point where its like, tihs is dumb. I think part of it is none of my friends play my player mode, so i dont have a crew or anything. The next part is playing online using default sliders is very unrealistic, especially when you start encountering 99s and 7’8 monsters who can shoot 3s and dunk from the free throw line. finally playing hte my player mode association, the a.i. is just too damn frustrating.

I like playing association mode, and every now and the ill tweak my game sliders to have a real fun competetive gaming experience against the a.i. while trying to find sliders that resemble real life (i think ive pretty much perfected my sliders). I played online against a friend and its wierd. Since i use sliders, playing on the online game settings is way too easy for me. Not to mention ithink im one of the rare guys who knows how to do post moves, advanced layups, and advanced plays.

yeah, I know what you mean about hacked players

in our crew, it’ll find a match but we’ll back out before the game tips off if we sense cheaters. so it’s takes us a few minutes to find a proper and fair match.
in traditional gameplay, I just pick n roll all day with Rose and either I get to the hoop, the big man will cut and I’ll hit him for an assist, or Deng or Korver will be left open. simple, but I frustrate the hell out of my buddies. even in 2K11, the Bulls are unstoppable.

wtf?

I haven’t hacked and my guy is a 96 overall with a 3 point shot, dunks from the free throw line, and is a 6’9 power forward.

You can also get that good by playing it every now and again since the day it came out and setting quarters to 12 minutes. Not everyone hacks.

It also helps that my player’s jumpshot form is Korver’s and his consistency is like a 95 or something so even though is 3 point shooting is technically like a 65, if he gets a catch and shoot wide open, I know its going in.

Ray Allen would be fucking incredible on this team

That being said, I don’t see how he ever comes here. Even if we had a mid-level exception (which is no sure thing considering the new cba), he’s already making more then we could even offer. I guess i just don’t see the incentive for him. Unless the Celtics said they were gonna completely tear that team apart (which I definitely don’t see happening)

I didn't want to type this sentence, the force from an Omer Asik dunk made my fingers do it.

Great post, SoulEater7

I like how you connect the dots on two things that I would have thought unrelated—Ray Allen as a prospect and the signings of Lucas III/Pargo.

I remember hearing those Ray Allen rumors during the summer

And thinking that, while I’d love him, he wasn’t the right fit for the Bulls at this time. I was assuming, I think reasonably, that the Bulls were a few years away, so why waste time with an aging Ray Allen? Get someone younger who can develop as a player as the Bulls develop as a team.

Now, however, Ray Allen would have been perfect. And I’d totally go after him this summer if possible. Add him to this team and it’s a guaranteed championship.

But can’t see him coming to the Bulls
Would love tho

it wasnt a bad thread, until someone mentions that the reason they will beat the bull is because the celtics have an mvp type player on their team in rajon rondo…………..yea………..

Your comment in there was very level headed.

But some of the posters cracked me up. Like the guy who called the Bulls “young punks”

nothing sent me to the edge more than the rondo mvp comment

id be fine it was just some random guy saying it, but it created a little following of guys agreeing wtih the statement. Its stuff like that, that makes me appreciate this blog so much more.

i so wanted to make a comment about it, but i refrained cuz id be deemed a troll.

Had the Rondo argument already, and I'm sure I will again.

But of course I will concede, as (at least in my own head) I like to think I’m able to take the green tinted glasses off better than some others.

Rondo may very well be the most important part of the Celtics this year, it’s hard to argue they can win it all if he’s not playing at a very high level (actually, it’d be impossible.) However, I always look at a league MVP as someone you have to make two arguments for:

1) Is he the most important reason his team is winning?
2) Can he be considered one of the best players in the league?

No player can make both of those arguments better than Rose, there’s no question about it.

yea i think the reason it bothered me was

i get that celtics fan base likes rondo, thats understandable. Im fine that you guys want to consider him a major part of your success, theres good reason to believe that. I just dont like that guys are not just propelling rondo above some very good players on your team (kg, pierce, ray allen) but above every player in the league in terms of worth? Thats pushing it….

Aren't KG and Pierce just as indispensable?

Celts aren’t winning anything without them either.

And, if I remember correctly, Celts did just fine when Rondo went down earlier this year. Just sayin.

What are you saying?

That Pierce needed an opportunity to show how good of a ballhandler he has become? Or that Rondo’s stats are indeed inflated from playing with so much talent around him, and Paul having a career high water mark in assists is further evidence?

It could happen if Doc leaves, thats the only chance we get him.

If he does opt out cos Doc and KG are gone etc, We would certainly be a no brainier destination, Title contender led by Thibs that needs a vet SG with range…….hmmmm.

unlikely but certainly not impossible.

I actually think there's a reall good chance Ray Allen is a Bull next year....

Doc is leaving after this season, his kid is starting college ball and he wants to be able to watch him play. It’s now or never for Bos and I’m pretty sure Thibs can convince Allen to come join this soon great team.
