If You're Looking for a New SG, keep your eyes on Houston

I say this not only because of Courtney Lee, but because they also have a trade piece available that might lend to us being an enabler for a three team deal.  Aaron Brooks is gone in my opinion, even though management has said the opposite.  I don't expect them to say anything other than that but I don't expect for Brooks to be on that team after the deadline.

Now I assume, that if they would trade Courtney Lee for a serviceable big, that they are looking for a more than serviceable big + a 1st for Brooks.  Now, look at the teams that are reportedly interested in Brooks; New York, Portland, Minnesota, Memphis, and Sacramento.  Depending on how bad they want Brooks, we could definitely get our SG upgrade, whether it's Lee or another SG on the block, and could get away without including Asik.

Star-divide

Out of those 5 teams listed our best bet is getting Sacramento involved.  They have a surplus of bigs, and the right mix of contracts to make either a big deal or small deal work.  In fact, they could probably pull the deal without us, but they don't have the 1st the Rockets would be looking for or would need our 1st to make sure they get an asset back for one of their young bigs.  At least I doubt they are giving up a lottery pick for Brooks.  Sacramento wants to try to get rid of Garcia and/or Udrih's contracts for expirings.  So we get on the phone with Petrie, who Gar Paxsdorf seems cool with, and tell him "Look we can help you get your PG, if you can help us out"... It just seems so damn simple to me.

Your small deal looks something like this, with a 1st likely heading in Sacramento's direction.

A larger deal might look like this, with our 1st going to Houston

i love the "hollinger's analysis" part

and how despite ditching bogans, we don’t improve…priceless

Excuse Me

Its cuz Bogans is worth bout 15-20 victories per season. If we trade anybody get rid of that awful Joakim Noah he is terrible.

Yes, I am high

Another trade idea

That depends on the Bulls calling 2 other teams to make a major trade so that we can hop on to get what we want. That’s the “hard part” that might seem “damn simple”.

Although I would do this as well as many other trades people have suggested here, it is near impossible to get 2 OTHER TEAMS to agree on major salaries exchanging hands so that we can hop on to get the player we want. Teams generally don’t collude to help the Bulls. Trades like this start with the 2 primary teams and then get a third team involved when something doesn’t suit one of the partners.

Also, don’t know why Sacramento wouldn’t want Lee instead of Bogans and keep us out of it. Don’t know if there are draft picks going back and forth or not.

Actually

You’re calling one other team. We’ve already had talks about Lee with Houston. They want Asik, we’re not giving up Asik. That’s where you make THE ONE OTHER CALL to Sacramento. To see what HOU’s been asking for and if we can help facilitate a trade. In return for adding the 1st round pick and/or expiring contracts/non-rotation guys to match HOU’s request, SAC adds enough so we can get our SG.

Hmmm...

I see the following problems, in no particular order:

  • I doubt the Kings want to take on salary or drop bigs, and if I’m them I like the combo of Udrih and Evans. Brooks would be a luxury.
  • Carl Landry is more of a PF.
  • If I’m the Rockets, I’m not very enthused about Dalembert, Camby, or Przybilla. They’re all pretty old. If the Rockets want old, they can sit tight with Miller, Yao, and Chuck Hayes. They clearly want a guy who can help down the road.
  • The guys who have legit center size and youth on those teams would be Mozgov (Knicks), Oden (not coming back to the Blazers probably), Thabeet and Jason Thompson. I can’t take anything the TWolves have seriously…. they aren’t gonna offer something for another PG are they?
  • I don’t think they’re gonna get much for Brooks.

Best thing I can come up with

Bulls
Trade Bogans, JJ, CJ, 1st round pick
Get Lee, Jared Jeffries, Ish Smith

Rockets
Trade Brooks, Lee, JJ (old), Smith ($10.7 in salary)
Get Thabeet, CJ, JJ (young), Pick ($10.1M in salary)

Grizz
Trade Thabeet
Get Brooks, Bogans

Maybe we should start a grassroots effort as fans..

and send signed lettters to every NBA exec begging us to do some deal that involves us getting rid of Bogans… for example, maybe instead of the nuggets trading Melo to the lakers for Bynum straight-up, they consider our desperate plight and take Bogans, JJ, and our first pick, with Bynum, JJ and the bulls pick going to the nuggets, Melo, Bogans and denver’s second round pick going to the lakers, and J.R. smith coming to the Bulls. Some junior high kids told me it works on that trade machine thingy, so it must be really easy to do. Getitdone Garpax.

I rarely post on here... but just curious.

How would you guys feel about a deal for Ben Gordon? He’s sucking in Detroit, but could catch fire with a change of scenery back in Chicago. Gives us a better scoring threat at SG, and also gives us some minutes at PG. And he knows his teammates.

I think people would love it. I would love it.

But he’s too expensive at this point, earning 10mil. You’d have to give up at least 8 mil in other players, and I’m sure they aren’t going to take some of the Bulls guard fluff given their own guard logjam. You’d have to give the Pistons a big man and the Bulls strength right now is Big Man depth. The New Orleans game shows you what happens when your backup big men are Aaron Gray and David Anderson. Big Man depth is important.

Would find a new team to root for.

Would lose all faith in this franchise if they traded for him w/ that contract.
