One industry source insisted to ESPN.com this week that Rose's new shoe deal with adidas will easily crack nine figures and could legitimately approach the $250 million range -- as in $25 million annually over a 10-year span -- in what is known in the shoe game as a "lifetime" deal.

How can the reigning MVP possibly command those kind of dollars as a shoe endorser? Here's how: Rose, as it was explained to me, is adidas' only counter to Kobe Bryant in China. I'm told Rose already outsells LeBron James there.

Damn, that's kick ass

Sadly, my self worth is almost entirely based upon the outcome of the previous night's Bulls game.

Nice!

Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

by Dils on Dec 30, 2011 3:07 PM CST reply actions

So this is why Howard won't play for the Bulls.

He’s just plain jealous. Certainly the idea that Chicago isn’t as good of a market as L.A. or N.Y. is a joke.

by Tim S. on Dec 30, 2011 3:10 PM CST reply actions

Yeah I was about to say that

The fact that there’s even a rumor out there like that about Howard is bad news. I’d still trade for him if I was the Bulls but his head definitely isn’t into the game

Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

I would say otherwise

The Bulls and the Lakers are the strongest brands outside US

hmmm

do you have any marketable skills?

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 30, 2011 7:02 PM CST up reply actions   1 recs

he could a bit actor in a Ronald Emmerich movie

he could freak out like he normally does when aliens/climate change/sabertoothes attack and get himself needlessly killed by abandoning the main characters and going of on his own. Kinda like what he does here, freaking out about games then trashing Rose.

Let us cavort like the Greeks of old! You know the ones I mean.

by hedonism bot on Dec 30, 2011 8:24 PM CST up reply actions

is that roland emmerich's brother or something?

can’t seem to find him on imdb…

You don't need marketable skills

You just need to be willing to embarrass yourself and youtube it, i.e. Leroy Jenkins, William Hung and the Hung Jury, the one-minute song girl from the Hyundai commercials

So I guess this means in all reality with all things considered...

Rose is truly the face of the NBA.

Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

Let's all dream of the Rose-Marbury backcourt we'll see in 10 years.

this will be the year

we find out if it starts to get to his head.

record rookie deal extension, 250 mil shoe deal…many men have trudged down this path and lost their focus when all this is thrown at them.

Bulls when Keith Bogans, err, Rip Hamilton scores 6 or more points:

2-1

I read somewhere....

that it had to do with him being a PG since most of the kids growing up there aren’t particularly tall the PG spot is their go-to position.

by CubFan81 on Jan 1, 2012 9:28 PM CST up reply actions

Funny you mention that!

When I first saw him at memphis, I thought he was of Asian descent. Especially without the facial hair. Glad I’m not the only one

Hey Rose. I don't see the appeal!

I'm happy for Rose

Although, I don’t think this is a concern of any sort, it does remind me of this infamous Alonzo Mourning quote,

Asked where his loyalties lay — with the team that had just drafted him or the company that had signed him — Mr. Mourning worked up his finest intimidating scowl and proclaimed, basso profundo, straight into the camera, “I work for Nike.”

by chowder on Jan 2, 2012 11:46 PM CST reply actions

Nah, Rose loves the Bulls and is all about basketball first and foremost. He is all about his team and his team is the Bulls.

Then Adidas. If it was Adidas, he would be calling his Adidas “buddy” D. Ho to get to Chi-Town to form a new super Adidas team to take on team Nike in Miami.
