After watching these first couple games I'm pretty stoked for the Bulls this year. Everyone is clearly just trying to get back in shape and trying to get that same high level of play they were at last year.
I think getting Rip is really going to pay off come post season time, he looks like he's getting used to bulls basketball and don't look now but we're finally getting double digit points out of our 2 spot! Deng has raised his level of play to another level and I'm convinced he will be an all star this year, for us to be legit contenders he has to remain at this level of play. Noah has clearly been a little rusty but he's also clearly trying to get back in shape, he'll be fine. Boozer is well.. Boozer, not extremely impressive but he draws attention away from Rose, he also looks to be (for what it's worth) slightly better defensively and a little lighter on his feet. Rose has to be more assertive but he's already stated that which is a great sign, I'm not worried about our MVP.
Now on to the problems, Kyle Kelso Korver, and Ronnie Brewer. Korver looks just awful and Brewer can't shoot. The problem is neither is elite at what they do. Korver hasn't shot well since the regular season last year, and he's gotten significantly slower, which means he doesn't get open, which means he isn't going to shoot better any time soon. Brewer seems to have added bulk and I've noticed he's been struggling to keep up with Shooting Guards(Ellis and Kobe burned him a couple times.) Seeing as defense is really his only strength i don't really like watching him play mediocre defense and shoot bricks all game long. I think the small change the bulls need is a "3 and D" guy who takes the need of having both of them away because they both take minutes from Hamilton and Jimmy Butler. I'd rather trade them both for a guy adequate on both ends like a Daequan Cook, or a firey personality like DeShawn Stevenson (i think the bulls need a some attitude).
So basically what I'm saying is I'd rather have an Anthony Morrow or Tony Allen, then a Kyle Korver or Ronnie Brewer. What do you guys think?
