Open Court about clutch plays
(at about 1:30 Reggie and Steve Kerr start talking about the shot over Michael. Kerr's reaction at 2:18 is priceless)

If only MJ ever had a call go his way

"We wish Jordan were 7-feet, but he isn't. There just wasn't a center available. What can you do? Jordan isn't going to turn this franchise around. I wouldn't ask him to. He's a very good offensive player, but not an overpowering offensive player." Rod Thorn, then Bulls general manager, after drafting Michael Jordan

Ha, I didn't mean that he didn't get preferential treatment, but I think that Reggie couldn't beat MJ's D on that play, and knew he had to push him to get space.

To be fair, MJ may have exagerrated the contact from Reggie a bit to get the call. MJ got outsmarted by Reggie, who knew he wouldn’t get called for a foul.

i think if reggie had simply said "yes...i did foul him...so what"

it would have been far better. Because ultimately everything he thought was correct, the refs were gonna swallow their whistles, jordan was gonna be waiting to switch, and miller read all of it correctly, in that sense….despite the obvious foul…it was a great play and a great read…credit should be deserved their. But to join in with the rest of the panel, jordans push on his last shot was nowhere near the level of severity of millers audacious shove.

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

and then he did the most retarded celebration i think i've ever seen in sports.

for all the times i’ve been homicidal in my life, that one was really up there.

I think his argument is just semantics

He’s saying it’s not a foul, because no foul was called. If it had been called, then it would have been a foul.
Bullshit IMO. A foul’s a foul, some just aren’t called.

I think in Reggie's mind it's actually not a foul

Because he believes the rules change for crunch time. The whole refs swallow their whistle thing to him means that it’s like an officially sanctioned rule change.

That’s my $.02, I’m not a psychologist, but it sure sounds to me like this is what he things.

I agree, and I think he has a point.

It’s not a foul if everyone in the building knows the officials won’t call it. There’s no reason not to take advantage of that fact. It would be like ignoring the way an umpire calls strikes because the rule book says something different.

like phil jackson said,

if anything, he didn’t get enough calls. he was fouled every time he drove, simply because no one could do anything else about it.

also fuck reggie miller and his toilet paper soft, kick your leg out like a bitch, fall on the ground, never win shit game.

Jordan knew how to make the officials call fouls.

He bulked up and invited contact so that everyone in the stadium could see the foul — and still got off his shot. I remember Jordan talking to Pippen about how to initiate contact at a certain angle so that he could get his shot off after taking a hit. He counted on the player hitting him to knock him upright for the shot.
