Why?

Don’t see the point of this. He wasn’t hurting anything with salary and could have been really good for trading pieces

by knickknack7450 on Dec 16, 2011 4:05 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Keith Bogans contract was a flexible piece.

If anything it helped our flexibility having it around.

by Grinder in Training on Dec 16, 2011 4:51 PM CST up reply actions

loyal and hardworking

he can probably get decent minutes on guard deficient teams. We’ve effectively replaced his 15 minutes and then some with Hamilton, no point in having him ride the bench.

Let us cavort like the Greeks of old! You know the ones I mean.

by hedonism bot on Dec 16, 2011 5:05 PM CST up reply actions

considering you aren't exactly replacing just his 15 minutes

but rather taking a tiny bit from other players to get it around 25-35 minutes, you’d want those other players to get more minutes. Bogans wouldn’t even be insurance, he would be basically demoted down to Scalabrine level.

Let us cavort like the Greeks of old! You know the ones I mean.

by hedonism bot on Dec 16, 2011 5:11 PM CST up reply actions

so....

thats exactly the kind of role hes perfect for. If an injury occurs, or if we desperately need defense at the wing i can as a fan (and im sure as a coach and team mate) expect to throw bogans out there and have him be ready to play his heart out and do his job. Really not that many nba players you can say that about, most are either good and believe they deserve to start somewhere, or are just terrible and you pray it never comes down to them…bogans is the ideal bench/role player. Never will complain about a role or minutes, but will be ready and willing to play his best and help the team win.

Its also the merit of a scalabrine, while hes really not a terrific player (at all) there is this idea that you could throw him in late in the season at a random moment and he will be ready to play. Those kind of guys are pretty valuable to keep on the bench, as opposed to chucker elites like pargo

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

by piccolomair on Dec 16, 2011 5:29 PM CST up reply actions   2 recs

which goes back to what I said

he can get more minutes on a team needing guards. He’s a loyal and hardworking guy, give him the chance to explore other options instead of legally binding him to a scalabrine role by picking up his option.

Let us cavort like the Greeks of old! You know the ones I mean.

Hey, I'm not rejoicing.

He plays hard on defense and hits three pointers better than Brewer. He’ll be a good back up somewhere.

I do hope this isn’t just a cost-cutting move, but a move designed to enable acquisitions or trades during the season.

larry hughes is worse

if i had to choose between hughes or pargo (im assuming im in hell ) im picking pargo…i dislike pargo…a lot….i HATE hughes like the plague he is

by piccolomair on Dec 16, 2011 5:30 PM CST up reply actions

ahh you see there are some trade-offs there

hughes is a locker room cancer… Pargo’s great in the locker room!! But hughes can play marginal defense. Pargo was just hopeless on that end.

When you and I are picking squads in hell, you can have Pargo, I’m picking Hughes.

by JockstrapNoah on Dec 16, 2011 5:41 PM CST up reply actions

The way i always saw it

is that Hughes is a much bigger chucker than Pargo but also a better player so that it ended up about equal in annoyance

by Chicagoblooz on Dec 16, 2011 7:55 PM CST up reply actions

I dislike

players who can play defense and choose not to more than those who try but are athletically limited. i.e. Pargo and Korver.

by El Toro de Goro on Dec 17, 2011 2:53 PM CST up reply actions

people have forgotten how bad pargo sucked

bogans was annoying in the starting lineup, but i dont want jannero anywhere near this team

Yeah I have a funny feeling he is going to end up either

in Miami,New York, or playing for the Clippers or Lakers. The last two options I would not mind seeing him succeed, but the 1st two i still wouldn’t mind him doing well, just not against The Bulls or in the Playoffs period! lol

Keith Bogans fall from grace, from a starter on a 62 win team to a reject the next year. How the mighty have fallen.

Bogans reaction: Screw you guys, I outta here and I’m taking the chemistry with me. Rolling with Keith is a one man show.

I will miss him.

so after complaining that league pass was the same amount of money as last season

i got an email saying otherwise!

from verizon:

The NBA has announced it will resume play shortly for a shortened season. As a result, your NBA League Pass package will begin airing programming on 12/26/11. As we notified you in September, the $179 regular season renewal rate will be pro-rated because of the shortened season. Specifically, your 2011 renewal price will be adjusted to $121.00.
