Bulls #1 in defensive efficiency (as of Jan. 9th)
Impressive, especially considering the amount of games Noah has missed. It's easy to bash Thibs for the Bogans thing, but he's got these guys playing some serious defense.
They're also #1 in rebound rate.

Coach of the year candidate for sure.
Pretty impressive, now all he has to do is bench Bogans :-)
Rose 2010!!!!!
Thibs doing a good job
He should play JJ more and have bogans riding the bench because JJ can do everything bogans can which is very little and more.
"and more"
turnovers

Exactly
I’d like to see JJ more in blowouts or games where we’re oddly completely lackadaisical (it still happens), but he has a tendency to have huge bad awful TO’s that make Tyrus’s TO runs look small.
It's almost 2011 Bulls. Let's Get Grimy!!!
I hate Miami as much as as the next guy, but
- in Offensive efficiency and #3 in defensive effiiciency…wow, suddenly I’m just a little scared of them
I really don't think losing Noah hurts the D really, It effects the offense more.
He can move well in the offense and is a good passer, but Kurt Thomas and Omer Asik are most exclusively known for their Defense and not getting in the way on offense, not much is actually run through them.

Noah is a pretty clear upgrade over Thomas defensively and rebounding wise. Thomas is slow. He can hold his own when he’s being posted up, but on any kind of pick play and on help defense, the difference is clear.
Asik can physically do many of the things that Noah can do, but he makes a lot more mental mistakes.
It’s not that the defense is unaffected, they’re just able to compensate well since it’s built around helping each other anyway.
The D Rtg with the starting lineups this season is separated by about 1 point...
Having Kurt Thomas instead of Noah isn’t hurting our D.
So from that you conclude
that Kurt Thomas’s and Noah’s defensive ability is exactly the same? It’s not, and I already explained specifically why.
The Bulls have also played a ridiculously easy schedule since Noah went out, where earlier they had one of the hardest. Does d rating adjust for strength of schedule?
Well... if you want to look at everything on the year as a whole...
Noah’s total DRtg is around 103 while both Asik’s and Thomas’ are 96….
The starting lineup with Thomas in it has rebounded just as well, actually better than the one with Noah in it.
Their Stl and Block percentages are, respectively, Noah 1.6 3.4, Thomas 2.2 3.7, Asik 1.0 5.3.
While there are some sample size issues here and maybe SoS plays a part in it, I don’t know what the total ORtg of the teams prior to Noah’s injury were vs. the teams afterwards, I find everything here but being pretty clear that the team operates on D better with Noah in…
So if you want to know what I think, yes I conclude from this that I would not be able to say Noah is better at D for this team and I would feel more confident in saying the difference thus far has been negligible than to say Noah is clearly better on D.
SoS unquestionably plays a part in it
The difference between the difficulty in our schedule before and after Noah’s injury is like night and day.
