Brewer is projected to outperform his disappointing 2009-10 campaign. SCHOENE has him bouncing back to 3.0 WARP with the Bulls... There's reason to believe he could outperform that as well... his most recent campaign (and the worst of the three) has the most weight—if it truly was a blip, he should look even more like he did with the Utah Jazz prior to last season.

Why's that?
Just wondering why you think he won’t play well.

Seriously, will someone please just answer me this:
How is he gong to score points on this team?
I get it, he’s a good defender, but I still can’t figure out how he’s gonna score enough to stay on the floor. We’re not gonna run a Sloan type offense here, so that’s out of the question. And we never even utilized Luol’s cutting properly and he’s better at it than Brewer.
Superteams suck.
A few ways/other points
1) Your right, Brewer is a great defender. He is also a great athlete. He will get some buckets on the break with Rose.
2) Brewer’s cutting ability will be needed when Deng is not on the floor. I agree, Deng is a solid cutter, but I could see lineups of Rose-Brewer-Korver-Boozer-Noah on the floor. In this set, Korver is keeping the lane open for Rose to drive and Brewer to slash.
3) Brewer will hopefully hit a few open jumpers. He’s by no means good, but if his defender really leaves him, he’ll get a few that way.
4) Does he need to put up tons of points? Most teams I looked at had only 4 or 5 guys scoring in double figures. Rose, Deng, Boozer, and Noah will all be double figure scorers. Brewer just needs to be a fringe 10ppg scorer. Heck, Korver has put up 10 before when he gets decent minutes, so Brewer just needs to score in transition and be the slasher when Deng isn’t in.

It's not that important that he scores a ton of points
but it is important that he is a threat. Otherwise you make some pretty good points. Thing is, I’m a firm believer that, in order to have a good team, you have to be able to shoot it form distance. Our team will not be very good at this unless Deng and Rose both get a lot better real quick.

I agree and disagree.
Top 10 teams 3pt eFG% (Ortg):Phoenix (115.3), Cleveland (111.2), Golden State (108.1), Orlando(111.4), Dallas(109.2), Toronto(111.3), Utah (110.7), New Orleans (107.4), Atlanta (111.9), Denver(111.8)
Bottom 10 teams 3pt eFG%(Ortg): Detroit (105.6), New Jersey(100.6) Chicago(103.5), Clippers (103.3), Memphis (108.3), OKC (108.3), Lakers(108.8), Minnesota (101.7), Philladelphia (106.1), Charlotte (104.4)
There is definitely some correspondance as far as ORtg goes. Teams that shoot better from deep put up more points. Golden State is certainly an outlier and the Lakers are to a certain extent.
However. Look at those lists again. In the top ten there are 3 non playoff teams. In the bottom there are 6 non playoff teams and several of the worst teams in the NBA! However, the NBA champion Lakers are down there as are the formidable Thunder.
In short, you are right. The Bulls need to be closer to the middle of the league as far as the deep ball rather than the bottom. Korver alone will help with that. His eFG% is usually near 60% with pretty good volume. If Deng simply takes more threes, the Bulls can move out of the bottom of the league in that area.
The fact that the Lakers were down near the bottom and Boston was muddled in the lower middle part of league gives me hope for the Bulls. They are going to have to win with defense, but it has been done and can be done.
Also, in 2007, Atlanta, Utah, Denver, Miami, and Detroit were the worst teams from three. Detroit and Utah went to the conference finals. Miami and Denver also made the playoffs. Again, I’d like more shooting too, but it’s finding the right balance.

How about the way MJ did
by posting up a inferior defender. There are any number of SG that come to mind. BG…
yes but youd need a post game which in my opinion is much harder to master than a simple jump shot

Not a fan of Schoene,
but even logic dictates that Brewer is closer to the old Utah player than he showed last year.
