Around SBN: Trent Richardson Interviews Fellow Brown Brandon Weeden

The Celtics are reportedly "doubtful" to be in pursuit of Rudy Fernandez.
It has previously been reported that the Knicks are out of the running too, so it's looking like Rudy's options are dwindling. Chicago remains a potential option, but it remains uncertain what (if anything) will happen.

This thing is not happening

Portland isn’t gonna budge (as they’ve shown in the past), and the Bulls aren’t gonna give up anything more than draft picks (nor should they).

Superteams suck.

good

i hope we low ball portland AND get rudy

All I want in life is for UC fans to chant: Deeeeeloooonte during Heat games

This is bullshit...

I thought when portland changed GMs they would stop puting so much value on guys that dont get any minutes…

Don’t know why all ya’ll are pissed

Silly

He’s got no options, we’ve got no backup two. Is there a problem i don’t know about?

I hate the Heat more than I hate Rajon Rondo, which is a lot.

I watched the end of andre miller's 52 pt OT game on NBATV today

the only time they put in Rudy was literally for one second at the end of regulation, presumably to make the big shot, and he didn’t even touch the ball. If they’re stupid enough to keep him, it’s a sad thing for both teams.

That team isn't winning any championships with 34-y.o. Andre Miller running things.

Good distributor, but just old, un-athletic, no 3-point shot… 4 times a year in the regular season they’re going to be reminded that they gave up on a better and younger PG in Blake.

I almost think they’d be better off without Miller, letting Roy distribute and giving the SG minutes to Fernandez.

interesting...

if we see lebron basically playing the point in Miami it might introduce the notion of non-conventional ball-distributor options to teams with weak PGs and/or great 2 and 3 guards. could make for some interesting schemes

Blake was far worse than Miller last season.

If the team’s not going anywhere with Miller, the team wouldn’t go anywhere with Blake either. Blake can shoot the spot-up 3, run the offense, and play okay defense…a good skill set for the Blazers but not very high quality overall.

With Miller, he can at least run the offense better, get to the rim, and create shots for himself and others. There’s a reason he still had a PER of 18.1 and an oncourt-offcourt of +9.2.

by poster on Aug 5, 2010 2:00 AM CDT up reply actions

I liked him as a Blazer, but Blake is a terrible starting PG.

He literally draws fouls less than any PG in the league. He also gets his shot blocked less than any player in the league which is not a good sign. He never, ever, ever, ever goes into the paint and has repeatedly made silly plays at the end of games.

He’s good at hitting open three’s and not turning the ball over. He’s like a poor man’s Derek Fisher without an ounce of clutch.

by Nick Van Excellent on Aug 5, 2010 3:33 AM CDT up reply actions

Which makes him

basically the perfect option to back up Fisher for one more season while Fisher tries to get in on this PJax threepeat thing again.

Isn't Kyle Korver the backup 2?

He’s also the backup 3, of course. Thus the need for Rudy, I guess.

It's a combo

Of CJ Watson backing up the 1 and the 2
And Korver backing up the 2 and the 3

Yes, that.

Watson will be OK at 2, and Korver will be fine but not great on D

It’s not a natural position for either player. Besides, it’s not a matter of filling up the minutes, it’s a matter of having another shooter on the roster

Yep, that's the idea

I’m actually totally fine with that rotation. Problem is, we’re in big trouble if someone goes down with an injury. It’s kind of a juggling act right now. You want to bring in a guy that’s good enough to be a serious contributor if needed, yet not rock the boat in the event that he’s not playing as much as he would like. How the situation at the two and three play out will be one of the more interesting things to watch this year.

Superteams suck.

Yeah, I like the idea that we still have some cap room.

If we can use it to absorb Rudy, then great. If not. I don’t mind keeping it so that we can reevaluate the roster before the trade deadline and possible fix whatever “hole” is most obvious by then. If the guard rotation is perfect, but Asik isn’t getting the job done, maybe some big depth. If 3 point shooting is really killing us, maybe we use some capspace and a player to try to really solve that problem.

That's one-sided.

What will the Bulls give? If the answer is something like James Johnson, then there’s no point in trading Rudy.

I have to say

with Rudy that would truely solidify my beliefs of an amazing offseason……Of course, LeBum, or D-W woulda been cool and exciting but I remmber thinking that this teams was only a scoring PF away for the past few years, and with rumors of Boozer in years past would get excited at the fact of adding him to my NBA Live roster, and now it has happened…….Added depth on Defense, and an Actual 3-point threat, added great depth and experience, and a new fresh face …with Rudy this team could really be amazing I think alot of people underestimate the moves made this offseason, besides a real scoring threat at the 2 (although I think Brewer could fit nicely for slanting and face breaks and of course defense)…NOW IS FINALLY THE YEAR ………..I cant speak for every Bulls FAn but I know I have not been this excited in quite some time.

by chicagobullies on Aug 4, 2010 11:29 PM CDT reply actions

Face Breaks hahahaha......

I meant fast breaks but face breaks works as well….especially if it is LeBron when he tries to do his famous swipe from behind and Brewer pumps on a fast break and Lebron breaks his face on the backboard…..(my ultimate sports fantasy among other hateful things to happen to The Three Stooges and the rest of the Que Tips)

First meeting of the season, in Miami.

:03 left. Bulls down 1. In-bounds pass to Rose, who proceeds to bust LeBron’s ankles (dropping him on his ass), then makes a power drive towards the basket and tomahawks it down simultaneously over Wade and Bosh.

Sinks the freethrow.

Game.

Silence.

No Silence

You will hear Aaron Gray in the backgroud cheering!

by rick_ross on Aug 5, 2010 2:34 AM CDT up reply actions

I do believe

That would be great as well….my g.f is from Cleveland so I doublely hate Lebron for obvious reasons. No matter what I just hope Bulls sumhow end Miamis season and make a mockery of Lebum in the process….glad all this Rudy talk is happening and looks like we r the frontrunners I have no problem giving up either first round bobcas will prolly sneak into playoffs so it could be helpful but i doubt a player as the shooting spaniard could be
