This year's 2K looks to be something very special. Not only is it the inauguration of Michael Jordan back to systems, but he's also the 1st Bull to grace the cover (unless you count this).
If your not excited about this game, its probably because..1. Your old, so you dont like video games (no shots); or 2. You hate awesomeness. I know alot of people have posted 2k11 updates and it has probably been lost..so If you round them up and post them in the comment section, I'm sure someone will appreciate it.

i like some of the more detailed control information
like how doing the dream shake or kobe pivot wont be exclusive to just rondo and kobe, how other players have the chance to perform them as well….i was hating rondo getting credit for the dream shake…

i think using the bulls and rose
i loved doing three moves, one was his hesitation step back, cuz it got you alot of space for a pull up jumper or drive, the second was tapping the modifier for a hesitation drive, which was like a turbo move that let you cut through traffic like butter….and the final was the behind the back dribble on a fast break, cuz you change direction and go a bit faster…needless to say…they were cheap and are part of what made rose a cheap player to use in that game….i like the direction the iso motion took with this years version though, alot more options, a lot more variety, and the ability to customize it as you go…beats 2ks version of motion control by a mile imho

Yeah my moves were behind the back, spin move and sometimes hesitation dribble. (rarely though but when used it was really effective)
Actually since you mentioned the new controls I got on 2k and now my advantages handles wise are more apparent. Thats why I don’t like some of the guys who are invincible they don’t do moves or add to the game they just walk in the lane or shoot with 5 hands in their face.
This new one may take some getting use to for me though D:

i really stopped playing my player mode
in the actual game mode i was stuck against the sacramento kings, using the older rosters…tyrus thomas shot 3s, hinrich got injured, no one played like their counterparts, and i was stuck starting and guarding kevin martin who could not be stopped at all…it was cheap, and i dont think i ever swore as much as i swore during the times i played those games. I played a few pickup games which were addicting, but i needed to improve my player (overall 54) and since i couldnt get past the kings i just stopped playing all together. Recently my player was deleted and i just havent had any desire to go about the business again. Hopefully they fix it and make it more fun/realistic, and make 99 extremely hard to reach (cmon a 54 overall guy is good enough to start, and you can become an overall 99 guy in two weeks….? Rookie Season?!!!?)
I just play my association mode and get lost within its world (until i find myself blowing out the cpu and have to redo the sliders…again)

Short Quarter length possible or
Sliders glitch. Some of the kids out there put up their sliders to give them a huge advantage against the AI. It was patched though so nobody can do that anymore.
Yeeeaahh I just don’t like that. I mean some guys with pure talent of course can get away with some things…..still there were guys who played the stupidest basketball I have ever seen in my life while still making shots.
Its funny though cause now my 6’1 guard dunks on the 99 guys and wounds their pride. (like one of those dunks where you bang in the air)
I don’t see the point in trash talking either if you got 99 and you’re playing people who have ratings of 70 and stuff.

its hilarious once i had my mic on
and theres like 12 year old white boys talking gangsta…it cracks me up….and then annoys me…i liked playing silent,usually my team would only have one 99 guy (who was always pg, i guess cuz his handles and passing skills were the best even though he was like 6’8) but id usually find that one guy on my team who also had a relatively low rating, like mine who would play the game right, and we would set each other up….and i love it when the other teams 99 guy think hes gotta do everything when his team goes down by 5 points….i just hate my stamina always runs out cuz im always sprinting on defense…

Just keep playin the right way
Those cheesers are gonna have to learn to play real basketball eventually.
They won’t they’ll just keep finding some cheap way. I found cheats myself but I don’t use them or pass them on whats the fun in that.
But yeah I run into the kids that sound like they’re 9 and talk pretty big. I just played this one guy who messaged me calling me a little bitch over a video game. I quit the game before it was done because I was down 10 and 1 minute left in the game. The guy shot contested 3s all game and had a 99 rating.
Not only did it have no effect with points and such but the game wasn’t a grind at all.
Its funny because once I saw how he was playing I knew he was one of those guys who messages other people to trash talk. This has actually got me thinking if there is a way to make a mini league. One where people actually play basketball and not just cheat their way to victory.

Same thing in live
They go to the corner with nash, williams, curry or whatever 3 pt shooter. And shoot and make them about 45% of the time.

Yeeeaahh I think Live is more of a caricature of the NBA. I can go to someones house and have never played (a current version) the game and by the third-fourth try I’ll be beating them.
But in NBA 2k on line some of these guys for real they can make threes at will and not by skill. Literally having a hand in their face and they still make it. Its like NBA 2k should destroy Sliders that go to 60 and above. And of course they’re going to find new glitches but hopefully they’ve sealed the old ones.
The guy I played made 3-4 threes while my player couldn’t even get the ball from the computer pg for 4 possessions. It was hilariously bad but I don’t like to waste a game on players like that. Thats why I want to find a league of honest players/teams if there is one.

I haven't played 2k since 2k9
And before live 10 I haven’t played live until live 10 and before that 05.
2K is good but it gets too easy sometimes and I hate the fatigue. and missing layups a lot And can’t find other problems since its been a while.
With live its a bit more chalenging but the online players cheat like hell and are predictable as hell, yet I can’t do shit to stop them. Sometimes when they are on a run they will make 4 threes in a row with Micheal Finley while for some reason I miss everything during the run even dunks with Josh Smith and miss open jumpers with Rose for a quarter.
I might buy both bball games this year.
Since 2K11 looks good and Elite 11 fixed a lot of the shit that pissed me off in Live 10.

Gets easy vs the computer? Yeah Iunno after like 2k5 or 6 that started happening with me too.
Though in Association mode I do like it how theres kind of a momentum factor. Like you can break the other teams spirit and what not I think thats sometimes how that goes.
Hmmm well I’ll see how live is my friend likes to buy it (Iunno why)
I really haven’t heard a peep from EA about it this year though.
But if 2K11 gets their “crews” working then it’d really be the best sports game to me.

I'm gonna make me
basically an unathletic [no speed/vert] but agile 6’0 PG/SG with post moves[:P], dribbling skills, and a dodgy 3 point shot, but a fadeaway and array of inefficient 2-point jumpers.
And opportunistic driving/passing.
I haven’t finished my 2k10 season but my guy was averaging like 30/10. Crossoverrrr. :)

on the 4th. For some odd reason your allowed to sign as a free agent at the end of each season. So in my 2k career, my player has played for the Nuggets, Heat, and Celtics…
Its interesting to see the different styles of each team firsthand.

hopefully with this post game conference addition, you can ask for trades and such ala superstar mode in madden (although the superstar mode in madden is so shallow and thin)

Yeah I didn’t like that either. After the first season I won the Finals MVP (though still wasn’t the star of the team) and the Blazers would just let me go like that?
Now I’m with the Magic and they still have Vince/Barnes and they got Alston back too. Dwight kind of annoys me though because if he would just run the floor then he’d have like 25-30 points. But decides to make things difficult on himself.
Anyway this season is taking forever because with the Blazers half the season I really didn’t get that much playing time.

The more playing time you get
the more my player is annoying…i tried to play 10 min quarters once….worst experience of my life…seriously they gotta tweak every associated with my player mode quite a bit…after creating your guy and playing in the combine…the game begins to go downhill….fast….ill reiterate…if you ever wanna see me (a guy who tries to limit profanity) go on a swearing spree…watch me play my player mode…

I only put it on 8 I think….and now I just try and put myself in foul trouble after getting achievement points haha.
It gets a bit fun trying to do that and get the points. Anyway it was great in the combine and training camp to make the team. Like having to play B Roy who is taller and bigger than me. Even though the objectives were partly ridiculous it was fun.
I always think if a game can get me to even give a damn about winning or losing they’re on the right track. (this theory is only for me though cause I know some people that go nuts with video games no matter what)

yea about the winning and losing thing
for me 2k seemed to make me choose…do i want to get alot of points, or do i want to really be a team player and win…my guy was a defensive dude, with good passing and handling skills (which is how i play the game in real life) the thing is when the game made me become a starter, it went down hill for me. I couldnt guard the kevin martins of the league at all, and so i would fail defensive objectives, and i couldnt score at all…failing offensive objectives…i felt that in order for my team to win, my guy would never develop…and in a game thats pretty shallow…that hurt…i wish they had a plus or minus reward (since the plus/minus stat is in the game)

I usually had to score 18-22 points for my team to win comfortably.
My guy is also a defensive minded guy who above average handles, but can’t shoot very well. So he’s a lot like me, except my handles aren’t above average.
But as I got more minutes, I couldn’t help but scoring because the AI controlling your teammates is generally retarded, so you’ll have Noah or Taj launching threes or Luol shooting off the dribble.
At the moment, my guy is 6’7 and averaging 20.9 PPG, 7.9 RPG (3 are offensive), 4.7 APG, 2.5 SPG and 1 BPG and we currently sit at 24-4.
I don’t want to end up being the league MVP AND RoY in the same year again, so I’m really trying to curtail my scoring and focus more on letting Derrick set everyone else up, and it seems to have worked a little bit as Luol has gone from 11 PPG to about 13 and Derrick’s assists have gone from 4.8 to 6.1.
Hopefully 2K11 has a much better teammate AI so I don’t have to do everything for us to win, and a better opponent AI so I can’t go off for 20 points off of drives to the basket, put backs and the occasional mid-range jumper.

I got 61 points in a game
on 40 shots. With my 6 foot SG who has almost no offensive skills.

I have a 70 in speed and a 60 in ball handling but I can blow past everybody! This is realistic!!

This game has a way of making me feel like a demonic basketball god.
I've made a bunch of players
I finished the season with my first one, but I was drafted by the Lakers. He was a PG and I was put in the starting lineup almost immediately, and then we won the NBA Championship. So I got my goal and stopped. :P
With this one I was talking about I’m the starting SG on the Thunder. Guarding big SG’s is so impossible, it’s really demoralizing, I’m just lucky they don’t post me up every single play …

Oh yeah mine went by fast only because our team kept blowing people out and my minutes were 15-20 at first.
Yeah its a funny thing because my SG is also 6’1 but the no player online would post me up or think to just go into the post on me. The computer though use to post me up a ton (on the Blazers) thats another reason it was so difficult.
It was actually really fun the first season though because the computer difficulty was still…well there. Both teams played pretty smart and kept to their roles. Thats how we use to get beat and it was realistic.
Like the Lakers use to be a pain to play. It was great though late in the playoffs playing the Lakers it was like turning point in the series I got a block on Pau Gasol. (again just 6’1 it was reminiscent of Ben Wallace block on Shaq)
Now with the Magic we haven’t lost a game in a while we’re like 43-4 or something. Kinda of yawning

ur on the ball with these updates…better than i was at least….dude im loving the cap attribute thing…so now my defensive sg will actually have a purpose…they should also add an online feature (that you can toggle on and off) of not just throwing random 5 people to play together, but allow you to “pick teams” based on grades and style of play…(and a brief stat line) but i like what they are doing with my player mode…it seems like its gonna be a hellava lot better….im excited now….

and just incorporate them…doesnt seem like a difficult task..
for the post game thing i hope theres a way to choose a voice….
i think it would be better that instead of choosing neutral, annoyed, positive reactions….you instead got to choose the actual quote…the reason is i doubt most people will willingly choose negative or annoyed reactions, instead it would be better if you got to choose quotes and let the “press” and fans consider if it was a positive one…that way after the game you could read the answers and pick the one you are most feeling, instead of picking the positive one only because its the one that gets you the most points or whatever…

The fights in there are hilarious. Someone said that 2K stole from EAs Madden in 06 but NBA already had 24/7 mode by that time.
Then another person said NBA shoot out had some terribly vague mode so 2K “stole” that….they need to just play whatever game they like and shadap.

Whaaat people were really wondering who was the best shooting guard during that season? I just thought a few analysts or someone was suggesting it was Drexler not it actually being a real debate.

I just played a game on xbox during lunch.
Don’t think it was available yet on PS3. It was ok. You can only play as the Lakers, and there was no commentary. One quarter of play.
This was my first time playing 2k since Shaq was on the cover a few years ago, so I was rusty with the controls. I’ll have to get some more playing time in after work.
I’m not a fan of using the right thumbstick to shoot thought.
It's true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it's also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.
things i liked about the demo
Help defense
ball has weight to it, as do the players, so if lets you feel more control, and more difficult to do dribble moves with players that arent quick (ARTEST)
When you pass it to a player, he will automatically take the best position possible when he catches the ball. For example i passed it to pau gasol, and as he caught it, he made sure he turned towards the basket away from garnett, where in 2k10 he wouldve just caught the ball and not finished the cut or be put in a bad postion with the defense on him.
lots of nifty animations that make sense this time around.
Of course i felt that the 2k10 demo was good too, until you play it for about a month and find all the glitches in gameplay…its hard to tell if good this game will be until the actual game comes out. So far it seems like a nice combonation of 2k11 meets 2k8..and i cant complain about that.
Also they remixed that music during the team matchups…which is nice cuz it adds a little variety, so you get different versions of the same 2k sports music.

The last 2k game I played was 2k6 so I'll have to get used to the controls.
I’ve always been an EA sports guy, but I’m getting this for MJ. But it does seem a lot more realistic. Just about every pass I made was stolen, so that sounds about right for me.
Can’t wait to get out of work and get another quarter in.

yea 2k 6 was nice, but it was made during the mvp nash days
so it was geared to incorporate that style of basketball, run and gun. 2k7 added a mid range game concept to that (which i think was largely due to deng…mike wang was the lead guy and he was a huge bulls fan, and 2k6 was the year luol brought the midrange game back to the nba), 2k8 attempted to slow down the game and added advanced post moves and lockdown defense, 2k9 imo was the worst game, it had a very nba live feel to it, the proportion of the players to the court was off, the game was designed to show off the new toys 2k got graphic wise, so tons of cool animations and great looking models and atmosphere, but the game was dunk heavy and had a feel of unrealism. 2k10 is what my brother calls the worst game, just because it seemed like a rushed product, it reduced the animations but still was animation heavy, and much of the game seemed like an unfinished product (although they did a better job of adding realism) 2k10 needed major tweaks in terms of game sliders to create a shred of realism, but these tweaks created more glitches to the game and somehow the ai learned overcome the sliders…so you would put the dunk slider to 40 and for the next three games in association, there would be few dunks, and suddenly in the 4th game everyone would be dunking like crazy again…
thats a basic rundown of the evoloution of nba2k.

When you pass it to a player, he will automatically take the best position possible when he catches the ball. For example i passed it to pau gasol, and as he caught it, he made sure he turned towards the basket away from garnett, where in 2k10 he wouldve just caught the ball and not finished the cut or be put in a bad postion with the defense on him.

The game feels really fluid so far, and the defense feels much better than last years edition.

I can’t wait for association mode that usually splits my time with My player though.
It’ll be fun to play against the Heat on both modes though. Hopefully my player gets drafted in the East. (and on the Heat jk )
