"I don't feel it was a waste of time because every team that had (salary-cap) money did the same thing," Paxson told the Tribune..."But both (general manager) Gar (Forman) and I are both confident that we've improved our team"

Honestly, they did well.

If we knew then what we know now, there’s no way we would have wanted Bosh. We might have gotten ourselves to love LeBron for his douchiness, I guess. But that was a longshot to start out with.

They’ve put together a good team, and if they could have gone one step further at shooting guard, we’d have nothing left to complain about. We’re one player away, and who knows what might drop in our laps by the trading deadline or in the draft next year.

Tried to find the bargain bin, all we found was the Bogans bin.

Going for the salary cap space was the waste of time, Pax. Once you had it, of course you go for those guys.

Should have continued building through incremental improvement. If they’d traded Kirk for capspace when they should have (i.e. when Rose was drafted), they could have had:

Rose (~5.6 mil)
Gordon (~11 mil)
Deng (~11.5 mil)
Tyrus (~ 6.6 mil)
Noah (~3 mil)
Taj (~1 mil)
Asik (~2 mil)

That’s a shade under 40 million for the starting lineup and 2 backup big men, then they could fill out the bench with the remaining room under the cap. I like this plan better than our current one. But we’d be in the luxury tax very soon after this year when Derrick and Joakim get extended. Jerry no like.

The Chicago Bulls hate shooting ability.

That team never gets better than a 4 seed.

No post scoring, no perimeter defense. Even if Rose becomes a superstar in that scenario, you’re stuck with only one top-30 player. On this team, I’d rather have Boozer than Gordon and Tyrus.

Plus, remember that Rose and Noah won't stay so cheap much longer.

So as far as non-complimentary players go, you’re stuck with that group unless you get a star this year.

Nah, if indications are you have a legit shot

at a guy like LeBron James, you go for it. It’s way too easy – and a huge copout – to say this now.

Also, I don’t see why you’d want that roster over what we have now, other than you just feel like shitting on Bulls management (which is understandable, since I’ve done it many times in the past).

Deng/Boozer/Noah: All your rebound are belong to us.

I just agree with the “waste of time” bit. I think we more so stumbled upon this situation unless JR had this plan for about 10 years now.

I like this roster though of course. If Rose doesn’t make us a serious contender then its still up to this management that doesn’t like to take risks.

Of course

Just because a strategy doesn’t work out doesn’t mean it was a bad strategy. Take the 3pt shot, for example, that fails way more than it works. The upside in this case was massive. The downside looks pretty similar to the team the Bulls would’ve had otherwise.

We have to give Brewer a chance first,

we are acting as if he has no potential to be successful. He has had two pretty strong seasons and is only 24 years old, Deron Williams was still talking about him in this year’s playoffs. I would give him a chance before you trade him and Boozer for Gordon and Tyrus.

I saw T2 at Walgreens in Deerfield he’s tall. if you’re wondering what his grocery list included: magnums, french vanilla ice cream and a 20 oz sprite

It's a tough situation to spin

I think a lot of fans prefer it’d be considered a waste of time, as they’d rather believe the game was rigged than that we lost.

par for the course when it comes to newspaper sites

though even though they make no sense when expressing so, I like that some people are pissed off.

And this was a good line: "The reason the Bulls did not hit a “grand slam” is because they sent singles hitters to bat in GarPax."

read that

and wondered who else they could have sent. plus i’m one of the cynical who though lebron was a loser who would take the easy path anyway.
