It started today, apparently. And LeBron has overshadowed it!

Our Summer League roster.

is apparently Derrick Byars, James Johnson, Chris Richard, Joe Alexander, Morris Almond, A.J. Ogilvy, Samardo Samuels, Jack McClinton, Jerel McNeal, John Lucas III, Matt Bouldin and Trent Plaisted.

I might not know all these players very well, but I have heard all of their names. And the ones I do know about I like (Byars, Almond, McClinton, McNeal).

Malone...stripped by Michael, to the floor, stolen by M.J.! Michael the steal! 16 seconds left, Bulls down 1. Michael against Russell, 12 seconds...11...10. Jordan, Jordan a drive, hangs...fires...SCORE! He scores! The Bulls lead 87-86 with five and two tenths left, and now they're one stop away...

Can not wait

I’m looking forward to seeing Byars and Almond, i think those guys can make the team

by BananaReel on Jul 5, 2010 3:36 PM CDT up reply actions

And James Johnson!

Can’t wait to see what he’s done in the offseason

by Sir Buckets on Jul 5, 2010 3:37 PM CDT up reply actions

that's the big if

I still hope he can be a new improved TT and give us… hope

And i’m curious bout Byars + Almond too

by JustAnotherFan on Jul 5, 2010 3:50 PM CDT up reply actions

Almond can shoot and play SG

we need a SG who can shoot
It’s kind of curious why we don’t have him yet.
And … yeah, I’m hopeful for JJ. We’ll see though.

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

Morris Almond

seems like he can do everything someone like Flip Murray can, and Flip Murray’s been in the league a while. If we’re low on cash due to LeBron/Bosh/Wade, I would not mind him being here at all.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

Who else saw Pargo's brother(?)

completely fail on an ill-advised fadeaway in the closing seconds of the Bobcats/Jazz game?

by Sir Buckets on Jul 5, 2010 3:36 PM CDT reply actions

I go to U of L, going into my Junior year now and Ive seen Samardo play since he was a freshman

i’ll be honest, hes got the potential, but he isn’t ready for the NBA. 1 more year under Pitino would have greatly helped him. Ive been to every cards game(season tickets baby), ive see him have bad games and seen him look like a lottery pick…

Pros: Good footwork, nothing special, he is a big guy though.
           Good offensive skill set
Good FT/FG% for a big guy
           Can crash the boards

Cons: Defense blows
            Sluggish
Can get into foul trouble quickly
Cannot run the floor like Noah(but really, who can?)
He’s dumber than shit. Literally, Ive had class with him, dude just sleeps

I like McClintock’s game. McNeal could be a Hinrich style glue and thrust combo guard…could be this year’s Wes Matthews…I like Byars too, he should have made the team over Pargo last year.

by C Smoove on Jul 5, 2010 3:42 PM CDT reply actions

No one can replace kirk hinrich!!!! ;)

but i agree with the byars over pargo thing, i liked byars when i saw him, as a bench guy, he had good size, looked like an alright defender, hit a few threes too….

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

Lance Stephenson

I realize it’s summer league, but I’ve always believed his game translates a lot better to the NBA game than to college. He definitely seems to be showing some signs of that today from what I have saw. Looks like he has a chance to make an impact.

by Bulls Fan 4 Life on Jul 5, 2010 4:17 PM CDT reply actions   1 recs

Yeah he has looked really good

8-10 shooting so far is really impressive

by BananaReel on Jul 5, 2010 4:18 PM CDT up reply actions

yeah I like Stephenson

if it wasn’t for the whole FA sitch I would’ve wanted the Bulls to go after him in the 2nd.

by Prevenge on Jul 5, 2010 5:31 PM CDT reply actions

i don't know

i think this is a case where the Celtics summer league team is playing about 3 times as hard as the OKC bench guys.

by Basketball Smurf on Jul 5, 2010 5:32 PM CDT up reply actions

He has been playing in the D-League for a few years

the guy is 26, so is a bit more matured than some of the other guys.

by BananaReel on Jul 5, 2010 5:38 PM CDT up reply actions

He played

the second half of the D-League season on my hometown Fort Wayne Mad Ants. He was kind of inconsistent, but the few times I saw him he was amazing.

Very fast.
Hum.
Maybe he’ll get on somewhere. The Celtics could use a third PG I guess.

Hats Off to Harangody

I’m in Big East country, and a G’Town basketball fan, so I’ve watched him all 4 years at ND. Dude went from being a “big bruising 6’9” PF" to a “6’6” combo/stretch forward".. He worked his ass off to try to stick in the league. It’s amazing to me that he looked that comfortable shooting the 3 AND was stroking em.

without dante and galante

there is no point to summer league. i watched their live stream (FREE) 3 years straight just for those dudes, they are absolutely hilarious. there is a lot of sadness right now amongst die hard fans that we have to listen to rick kamla instead of the hilarious yet entertaining coverage of the magic’s court jesters.

ugh, this sucks. i miss the perch :/

They really were a huge part of it

Watching scrubs try to make other teams doesn’t really hold my interest, unless there’s some pre-existing interest in them. Bulls games will be semi-interesting with the likelihood that some of those guys make the team, and of course checking on JJ’s progress. But without the humor in Orlando, I think I’ll just be checking box scores.

Pargo

just hit a game winner at the buzzer for the Bobcats. Maybe Broussard will change his mind and decide he should be out starting SG.

Bouldin needs to make this team

because the role of white tweener guard is now open.
