David Aldridge rates teams offseason
David Aldridge rates how teams did in the off-season.
The Top 10 (Heat, Bulls, Lakers, Jazz, Celtics, Spurs, Bucks, Mavs, Knicks, Hawks)
The Middle 10
(Suns, Wizards, Warriors, Nets, Thunder, Sixers, Rockets, Grizzlies, Kings, Wolves)The Bottom 10
(Blazers, Clippers, Nuggets, Raptors, Magic, Bobcats, Pistons, Hornets, Pacers, Cavs)
Specifically he says of the Bulls
Now, Rose can have the rock in his hands all he wants, with legit scoring options in the paint and behind the 3-point line (Brewer could really shine in this offense), and Joakim Noah will be even harder to keep off the glass. Great value in getting Watson to replace Kirk Hinrich; that sealed Chicago's excellent summer.

I don't understand the line about Brewer coming right after him talking about 3 point threats. Brewer can't shoot.
The Bulls will win 50 games this year and (hopefully) the Central Division for a top 3 seed.

Don't know how realistic it is
but it sure would be nice if he could up his percentage from three to around 32-35%.
Superteams suck.

As long as it doesn't make him think he found a shot and starts shooting more of them.
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
I think he made a mistake
he probably meant Korver

Non sequitur
I don’t think he was suggesting Brewer is a good three point shooter.
There are really only two plays: Romeo and Juliet, and put the darn ball in the basket.

Agreed.
Short paragraph, trying to get as much info in a short space.

Well he mentions two areas where options were added
Both “in the paint” and “behind the 3-point line,” and I’m presuming the Brewer comment refers to the former and not the latter.
He probably should have said, " […] with legit scoring options behind the 3-point line and in the paint (Brewer could really shine in this offense)".
The Warriors should be on the bottom of this list and every list
and not in the middle………………..signing Pargo puts them on the bottom and makes them big time losers for this offseason

I watched a few minutes....nice to see that late Korver 3 against the Lakers....
I saw it a few months ago sure, but now that Korver’s a Bull I watched more….
And Boozer was always underrated in Utah because of his injuries when he first got there, he’s solid.
2010-2011: I put the Scottie-Barkley Rockets feud curse on the Wade-James-Bosh trio.....
Should the Atlanta Hawks be that high?
I mean, the Joe Johnson deal seems to have become a by-word this off-season for a terrible and bloated contract for a player who doesn’t really deserve it…
I guess ensuring playoff status for the next few years is okay, but I’ve read people more knowledgeable than I mentioning how much the Hawks will rue JJ’s contract quite soon.

I thought the Hawks
would be close or in the bottom 10 based on Johnson’s contract, his contract could cost them players like Jamal or Marvin Williams.

I know what you're saying regarding the huge contract and dramatically overpaid JJ
But I’d rather keep JJ than keep Crawford or Marvin Williams….
I think in 3-4 years the pain of this summer’s dramatic overpay will sting them, but Johnson is still light years better than Rashard Lewis (who signed his huge contract 3 years ago)….
And at least in the short term he is worth near that money.
Still I’m surprised they made top 10. I could see them in the lower realms of the middle, but you have to say at least short term that keeping JJ is better than losing him for nothing.

Great assessment
David Aldrich thinks the Bulls key offseason moves were Ronnie Brewer and CJ Watson.
"Oh, y ahora ¿quién podrá defenderme?" "¡Yo!"
Why is not resigning Pargo not on this list?
That is the key to us being the real winners this summer.

Why? They are. And they mainained their dignity
throughout that entire process. Though I’d take LBJ over dignity any day.

Weird how "Watson replaces Kirk"
short defensive starter replaced by shorter offensive backup. i feel more like BG finally got replaced thank Kirk did.
"Take Omri Casspi and Kirk Hinrich, simulate any 2k10 season and they win the championship. It's science."
TOMMY25
The way I see it:
Kirk Hinrich ($9mil) = Brewer ($4.2 mil) + Korver ($4.5 mil)
Traded with GS: Pargo ($1.2 mil) for Watson ($3.7 mil)
It’s also worth noting that Watson is both better than Gordon defensively (should be a significant difference) and nowhere near as good as Gordon offensively. Watson is also MUCH better at handling the ball and passing. So other than size, and the fact that they’re both guards, they’re pretty different players.
Watson has the same efficiency level as Gordon, he just uses fewer possessions.
There’s value in being a high usage guy, but that value is diminished when you share the backcourt with another big usage player (Rose). I’d rather have Watson than Gordon for that reason, especially given that Watson is a better defender than Ben.
The Bulls will win 50 games this year and (hopefully) the Central Division for a top 3 seed.
