Bulls Player Pair Widget
I usually don't link to my blog unless it's relevant or cool enough to link to. So far it's been nowhere close, but I think this is something people here will be interested in.
I created a little player pair widget which allows you to filter all lineups by which players were on the floor together (for example, show me all lineups that had Rose, Hinrich, Gibson!), and then it spits out their minutes played together, and the ORating and DRating when they were on the court.
Here's the link with more info. My site's download pages are kinda weird, so if you get lost trying to download it here's the direct link. Instructions are on the blog page if you can't figure out my crappy layout.

but i think we'd actually like someone like him to show us his blog
minus points for hiding it from us! jk
someone teach me how to get Sam Smith's job when he retires
Thank you
Especially now that I realize it is something that I could have done myself relatively easily..
Player pairs was one of the most useful features on 82games and the lack of 09/10 players pairs statistics there has been frustrating.
Why would you think that was sarcasm?
It never occurred to me to use filters and the subtotal function in that way even though I use excel and filters everyday at work.
Can you explain your myth of post scoring a little?
Unless that is too off topic.

Thanks :)
As for the post scoring myth, I’ve always thought that post scorers scored efficiently in isolation. Teams try to force this on offense all the time, for example Deron feeding Boozer in the post, and everyone else backing away to give him space to operate.
But the numbers say that only Bosh/Dirk were efficient in post isolation last year. Big scorers score efficiently off putbacks, pick and rolls and cuts, basically anytime there’s a breakdown in the defense. As long as the defense is set (like with a post isolation), it seems the offense is in an inefficient situation.
If I remember correctly
you came to this conclusion after seeing the Boozer/Lee/Amare/Dirk/Bosh fanpost someone put together?

no, it was from the comments in that fanpost. someone with synergy was comparing
lee/boozer/amare, and yaopau noticed how bad their post scoring was. apparently these three were not alone in this.

This is really cool.
And addictive.
Soooo all the Deng Lineups put together are + 1 and all the Noah lineups put together are – 1.6. This is sort of counter intuitive.
Unless you realize how good Deng is. I don't understand the deal with Noah, though. Maybe we overrate him? Nahhh.
The Bulls will win 50 games this year and (hopefully) the Central Division for a top 3 seed.

I think my favorite part of this tool...
is looking at the difference between rose/hinrich/deng/TAJ/noah and rose/hinrich/deng/THOMAS/noah…. with taj +1.5… with tyrus +4.3.. just another tip of the hat to the whole tyrus vs taj debate, which of course never should have happened to begin with.
u gota blog? *brain explodes*
