Thibodeau coaching Rose at Team USA practice

RedsArmy was at Team USA practice today and caught a teaching moment between Thibodeau and Rose. Can't really make out exactly what they're doing, but it's still cool to see.

Then there's an interview with Thibodeau as well. (for your health, disregard the glowing words about Rondo.)

I'm pleased at this convenient circumstance putting these two together so early in the offseason. Get the star on your side before training camp, and the rest will hopefully fall in line.

I spent 3

I fast forwarded a minute somewhere in there but then continued to watch for some reason.

So…gotta say it: this sort of vindicates the Ben Gordon thing.

They get access at all star break too.

Red’s army isn’t as small as you’d think.

Btw, I watched the vid too. And I’m not even a Bull :p

Hope you are kidding.

Did you guys hear about the new Lebron James Iphone?
You have to keep it on vibrate because it has no rings.

Did you not see the wink? :P

Although I AM a coach… So not kidding about that

by BAB-Bass on Jul 25, 2010 5:44 AM CDT up reply actions

Definitely hope so for you guys...

… and also for Thibs. We’re missing him already. It’s exactly like Red’s A said in the vid; we love Thibs, and we wish you all the best (when not playing us ;D)

Can't say enough about how great it is

to have a real coach who actually knows the game of basketball actually coaching Derrick now. It’s clear he’s always been a willing listener, but whenever bonehead Vinny was “coaching,” he wasn’t actually saying anything. Here’s to Rose taking Thibs’ defensive expertise to heart, and becoming the complete (super?)star we know he’s capable of being.

At 0:35 he teaches the step back… or fails the moonwalk
At 1:25 Thibs teaches how to stop in front of a lay up… or how he was standing in line in disney world

I love that Thibby is over there with Derrick, but it's kinda odd how

Derrick has his own coach out there, while everyone else is learning from the regular coaches. Or am I mistaken and is Thibs on the USA coaching staff?

by dakoose on Jul 21, 2010 11:06 PM CDT reply actions

coach Thibs

No coach Thibs isn’t on th USA coaching squad he just sits in and watches pratice and I believe this video was shot after practice was over and he was just giving him some pointers.

Yeah. Lots of young guys with tons of room to grow.

Wanna make sure they’re doing right. Or something.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

The best video of the summer so far. Can't wait till first preseason game!

General manager needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen.

another q&a w/ drose

one of the questions
Q: Let’s set the record straight now: Did you talk to LeBron at all over the course of the last couple months?

DR: I texted him. I texted him a little bit, but didn’t really do any recruiting. I really didn’t know what was going on. I think he didn’t know what was going on until the end. [James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh] were just having fun being recruited and they’re the type of people that like it.

I’m not sure we can get too proud of Derrick’s anti-recruiting stance when he went to freaking Memphis.

Rondo Airball

1:31, first video, far left side. Is it bad that anything bad about Rondo still makes me happy?

by DippedinWax on Jul 22, 2010 7:52 AM CDT reply actions

It's cool and all

But Thibs looks a little stalky, and Rose a little disinterested.

There are really only two plays: Romeo and Juliet, and put the darn ball in the basket.

I thougt it looked like he was trying to visualize what Thibs was telling him

Look at the basket, dribble a couple times, get your mind set and visualize doing what he said.

Sorry Bullies, but I got a question here ;)

Hey guys.

What’s your beef with Rondo? :p

Is it because of the runs-ins we’ve had? The clotheslines? Anyway, as I said before; rooting for you guys, whenever you’re not playing us :p

Go Thibs!

I cannot speak for the rest of yfbb's fiefdom here

But, I think my hatred for Rondo has much less to do with Rondo than it does with most fringe NBA fans. It all started with Simmons ridiculously touting Rondo as the league’s best PG; which he simply cannot be. Whenever the team can adopt the defensive strategy of not fucking guarding a guy, we have to rethink what it means to be the best player at your position. Kobe absolutely punked him with the fuck-you-I-dare-you-to-shoot-anything-over-twelve-feet sag off.
If Rondo comes back this year with a consistent shot, then we’re talking something. He’s an absolute beauty to watch in the open floor, he’s got vision that rivals anyone, and he’s a hustle guy. I actually like his game. But, I wish Kirk Hinrich would have cracked him and said, “Bitch I’m better at being overrated than you.”

It also relates to

Rondo clobbering Brad Miller in the face and the incident with kirk. (From the 08-09 playoffs)
