Jeremy Lin Summer League play
ESPN rumor(Insider)
As such, it looks like the Mavs could have some competition for his services, according to Jeff Caplan of ESPN Dallas.
That Eastern Conference team Caplan alludes to below?
It's possible it could be the Bulls, Heat or Pacers, all teams in need of a PG.

Was there a Harvard convention in Vegas this weekend?

Meh
Apparently I alone in not being awed by these clips. Looks like a good college player. Limited athleticism and his game struck me as kind of gimmicky. Wall doesn’t play any defense either. I couldn’t see him being a productive player in real NBA games.

wall doesnt play defense
he plays offense, and this guy did a great job of defending the more athletic wall….
Ill give you that perhaps he isnt a starter level talent….its arguable…but he looks better than anyone on the bulls summer league roster by far…the kid is an nba player undoubtedly…i still cant believe he went undrafted
I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

i think he would be great as a bench player for us
seems like he competes hard and fits into our culture (gar is brainwashing me)
someone teach me how to get Sam Smith's job when he retires
To even suggest like this video does that Wall and Lin are in the same league is preposterous.
Lin may have played better in one game but his only real advantage over Wall is that he is a marginally better shooter. Lin might have a slight edge but shooting 35% from 3 in the ivy isn’t great when you consider Cornell had 7 guys with higher 3 point percentages than Lin last year. I’m almost positive I’m the only person on this blog to see Lin play in person more than once and he has two strengths, he can drive and create his own shot off the dribble. Not much of a spot up shooter. He has decent speed and can be a decent defender. Just keep this in mind, in the biggest game of his college career against Cornell in what was dubbed the biggest game in ivy league history, Lin’s team lost 86-50 and Lin has 1 assist and 8 turnovers. I know it’s just one video comparing them but I’ve also seen Wall play Cornell in person, and let me just say his athleticism is off the charts. His defense is superb, passing is great but I think he may not be quite the ball handler or scorer that D Rose is. OK that’s probably more than any of you wanted to here about this guy. But in my mind, Lin is a lot like CJ Watson who we just got, but not as fast or good. Peace.

The fact that you had to compare Lin to John Wall, Derrick Rose, and even CJ Watson
just to make a point that he’s not in the same league as a no. 1 pick shows that this kid has done something to get your attention.
Sure, he isn’t as athletic as Wall. But he can get above the rim. Doesn’t that already put him ahead of Kirk, Pargo, etc?
Sure, he’s not a spot up shooter, but shooting is something that can be improved drastically. Repetition, repetition, repetition.
And how can you blame Harvard’s loss to Cornell solely on Lin? Have you even HEARD of the rest of the Harvard roster, against a Cornell team with legitimate 2nd-round prospects?
Here’s what I’ve seen from these videos: He’s a scrappy 6’3 guard that tries hard enough to defend offensive machines like John Wall. He might not have the lateral quickness or athletic ability (I have no idea), but he seems to be pretty good at anticipating the pass, and playing SMART defense (like sagging off John Wall when he’s still driving and getting a jump-ball, instead of committing and getting blown by). He isn’t afraid to drive to the rim, and has a knack for drawing fouls. He has some passing ability, which could perhaps grow with more legitimate players.
As a starter? No way…not yet. But as a 3rd-string point guard to back up Rose and Watson as a 6’3, 200 lb defender who has shown offensive IQ, as an undrafted prospect who will probably come dirt-cheap?
Give him a contract.
And in the meantime, keep your “Wall vs Lin” comparisons to yourself, since nobody has to defend Wall except you.
