Monday night FA roundup
- Bulls interested in Joey Graham (for some reason...I'd say he 'knows the Org. but that was his brother Stephen, right?)
- Keyon Dooling to the Bucks
- Craig Smith back to the Clippers (via Rob Mahoney)

Bulls also would like to have Murray back
Sources also named Cleveland as among the teams interested in free-agent guard Flip Murray. Murray is also said to be receiving interest from the Clippers and Chicago, which he played for last season.
Via Fanhouse
I’m ok with him coming back and play some minutes behind Rose… It’s better than having Pargo.
List of hated players: 1. LeBron; 2. Wade; 3. Bosh; 4. Pargo; 5. Pargo... 100. Pargo
Sigh.
Flip Murray is awful and Keyon Dooling was pretty all right and a decent fit for what we needed. Way to go, Bulls.
The Bulls will win 50 games this year and (hopefully) the Central Division for a top 3 seed.

He is awful. In his time with the Bulls last year: 12.1 PER, 48.7 TS%
The only thing he did well was defensive rebound.

Well that's fair. Thank God Pargo is gone and (hopefully) never coming back.

How did Pargo get to play so much last year? If it was Vinny's decision
to play him, then that would have been the #1 reason for firing vinny. If pax/forman were making vinny play him, then, well, I can’t even imagine. I stand by my statement that Pargo was the worst player I have ever seen play in the NBA. I would have much rather had Randy Brown or Pete Meyers or even Vinny Del Negro suit up and play for us last year instead of pargo.
It's weird bc
In the game where Vinny was ejected late in the year, I think it was Pete Meyers who was the head coach—it was early in the game, and he quickly put Pargo in there……for even more minutes than Vinny would have.
I’d like to think that was the org asking him too. I didn’t get it bc Law looked pretty decent after he actually started to play.
Pargo wasn’t as bad 3-4 yrs earlier for us, but he really lost the little bit of it he had last year, just awful.
2010-2011: I put the Scottie-Barkley Rockets feud curse on the Wade-James-Bosh trio.....
Touche.
Part of it is fit, though. Dooling is a much better shooter than Flip and as a result has a better career TS%.

Wasn't Dooling hurt all or much of last year?
I’m not really pro or against either of them…..I do know Hollinger had Dooling on his all D team 2 years ago, and I liked the few “Wade” esque Dooling things he did back in his Miami days (though that’s a while ago now)…..

Didn't see this posted yet, apologies if it has been.
Also, former NBA coach John Lucas told FanHouse on Sunday at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas that his son, John Lucas III, is being considered by the Heat as a third point guard. The dad said his son, a two-year veteran who last played in the NBA with Houston in 2006-07, is also being looked at by Chicago, which is playing for in the summer league. FanHouse.com
You guys read
this piece on BDL about Xavier?
Seriously, if we can grab him – it be a good look. He can back up Brewer for the next 2 years + Brewer seemed like a real pro that X can learn from

i really want jeremy lin.
dude was awesome in summer league against john wall in the small spurts he played and i watched him in other games too. smart shots. good passes. great backup/3rd guard or whatever you wanna call it.
someone teach me how to get Sam Smith's job when he retires
they say its a 3 team race for him
mavs/lakers/and some eastern power
i forgot where but in some report some people were saying its gotta be boston/orl or chi
i would really love it if we could get him
someone teach me how to get Sam Smith's job when he retires
if lin is going to the lakers
i’d be shocked. ebanks and caracter haven’t even made the team yet, and lin gets a guaranteed contract first? hell of an endorsement.
and that might mean shannon brown to chicago(for better or for worse)
"I've hacked into your brain. You're throwing a party and no one's showing up."
That just means that the Lakers need guards
And I dunno if you’ve seen the Lakers’ guards who aren’t Kobe Bryant,
but the Lakers need guards.
Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!
Graham?
Ugh. If you are going to go after a great athlete like Graham, at least get a guy with tons of upside or one that has some sort of redeeming qualities.
At a 52% clip
Not saying he’s that good, but he made some good plays on the Nugs last season. The bulk of his starts were when Melo was out. He filled in fairly well offensively, and on the boards.
Jeff from Cleveland wrote- I've figured out the moral of the story: Stay in school. Wade: 3 years at Marquette, Bosh: 1 year at Georgia Tech, the kid from Akron: no college. The most educated guy convinced his dumber friends to come play on his team for less money.
Joey Graham
is definitely better than Stephen.
I’m more partial to someone like Antoine Wright, even though I’m pretty sure he fucked up his knee last year.

He shoots threes
enough said… almost. He beat out Luke Ridnour when they both played for Seattle Sonics. He’s been a borderline starter/great backup for his career.

Before today I would have been like ..what who? why?? You Tube is the official Gametape center fo the USA. Now I am sold SIGN THIS GUY!
Wow, this guy is fast.
Not bad for a bench guy. And at a solid price.
Seems a little like
JR Smith, without the 3-point shooting ability. A perfect versatile bench player, but needs to improve his passing.

Minus about 5 inches and 30 pounds and plays a different position
But other than that, about the same.
Their styles are similar

I don't understand?
Would you rather them overpay for players? Paying the luxury tax for a bad team to me isn’t the mark of a good owner but of a stupid one.
Really? That's pretty much the dumbest comment I've ever seen you make.
That makes zero sense. The Celtics, Lakers, Mavericks, Suns, Magic all have multiple overpaid players.
If they cost $20 million more, they might not be $20 million worth of wins better, but they might be $10 million worth of wins better. That doesn’t make them a bad team. Unless your goal is to win Financial Championships, of course.

So did the Knicks, Nets and Cavs use up all thier cap space?
All the Knicks got was Amare.
Cavs did no sign anyone from the expirings of Lebron, Z, and ShaQ? Isn’t that like 50 million in expired contracts?
Nets signed a bunch of role players?

I wouldn't mind re-signing Acie Law and Joe Alexander,
but I think they want to go to a team where they can get more playing time.

are going to get playing time somewhere?

C.J. Watson... poor mans Kirk Hinrich.. at a real discount from 9 mil?
"Maybe Paxson influenced has been a bit silenced :-)"
Meh
Watson isn’t nearly the defender Hinrich is.
Watson is a serviceable backup to Rose, but that’s about it. I’m not all that enthusiastic about him. I guess he’s probably one of the better backup PGs left on the market.
by RM on Jul 19, 2010 9:10 PM CDT up reply actions
ok, you'll right
Earl and CJ mixed up, still Earl also isn’t comparable to Hinrich.
CJ is young guy so he’s a replacement for Pargo, and backup PG.
Probably a nice kid that fits the Bulls good guy image.
"Maybe Paxson influenced has been a bit silenced :-)"
Watson does grab a lot more steals than Kirk. I think Watson is more of a disruptor/gambler, whereas Kirk was
more of a fundamental, keep-the-guy-in-front-of-you type. Kirk accomplished his defense by tricks and clutching and grabbing. Watson gets his work done with athleticism. One is teachable, the other isn’t. I’d rather have Thibs teaching CJ than Kirk. More potential. Plus, CJ is the much better offensive fit, mainly because he doesn’t totally suck on offense.
The Bulls will win 50 games this year and (hopefully) the Central Division for a top 3 seed.

God, could the Bulls be any more boring in building a team?

Well CJ is probably Thibs teachable, and this organization places a high value on character and plays personality safe...
"Maybe Paxson influenced has been a bit silenced :-)"
Watson is at least the 8th man
he is the back up point guard. And I like the Watson signing, boring or not.

I agree
You figure Korver is 6, Gibson 7, I guess you are right that would make Watson 8. My bad. Asik/JJ 9/10. I think he was by far the best of what was out there. Certainly better than retreads like Roger Mason or Jason Williams. Fairly young (26) and with some upside. Fits what we needed as well (shooting + bench scoring) for a reasonable price. All in all, nothing to complain about.
Expecting? No.
Wanting? Yes.

This was a sound move. Why complain?
They got a pretty solid young player who filled a need locked up on a cheap deal. This is a good thing. It might not be sexy, but it will help them win games.

I like this
This is a good pickup for the Bulls because it fills some needs as Watson will be able to backup Rose at the point and he can score which is what the Bulls were looking for.

The Bulls have made virtually no mistakes this offseason.
That may sound boring. But, in a league where bad contracts can burden a franchise for years, making sound player and financial decisions actually puts us ahead of the pack. I’m pleased with all of our signings.

its really nice, i respect him for writing it

Lebron could learn something from a guy like that
instead of making a mess out of his decision……….Lebron= No Class
u dont think
thats exactly why amare wrote the letter? I mean he joined ny quite awhile ago….why take so long. I think his agent was sitting around one day and thinking,
‘damn lebron is stupid, and his agent is stupid, if it were me…..hold on….hey amare, its me ur agent…u feel like writing….alright nevermind, ill ghost write it, you just call the arizona newspaper company…alright ill call them…..yea people are gonna love this, ur gonna get a great reputation to start off your career in new york…just watch….’
eh…but i wont complain…anything that makes lebron look more like a douche is a-ok with me…

He wanted guaranteed money [that's the only difference between the contracts basically]
Given Amare’s injury history, it was probably a good move.

he’s basically said as much that he would have stayed if phx had given him the guaranteed years. i don’t blame the guy for that.
