World championships this summer...
I’m really looking forward to seeing Omer Asik play for Turkey this summer, because last I saw him play in international competition (last September for the Euro champs), he was really good.
He’s a lot more athletic than some blogabullers have commented the past week, he really knows how to set high screens and has a knack for rolling after that. His jumper is not that bad mechanically, I think it’s more in the mind, he needs to find the lightbulb to relax on those free-throws, because he looks better shooting from 4-5 meters than shooting from the free throw line.
What makes him stand apart though on offense, and not unlike Noah, is his ability to block and defend in the post, combined with his speed through traffic on offense, leading to spectacular dunks in traffic sometimes. He’s a fast 7-footer, just like Noah (maybe not that fast, but still).
On defense, even if he was still quite lean, not much bulk, he could really defend in the paint against bigger dudes and hold his ground. So I guess now that he bulked up a bit, he should really be decent at this (maybe better than Noah?).
Like I said, really looking forward to see him play in August/September with Turkey. If he’s at least as good as he was a year ago, that’s a great start for the Bulls. He’s going to get better with the coaching team Tom Thibs is going to assemble this fall.
The Game chose him !
Meters?
Please take your metric system to RaptorsHQ, please.

Whatever.
I choose to give my opinions and very modest information I gathered (whatever the system I have to use), you don’t need to read about it if you’re too american-centric.
The Game chose him !
Take a joke!
And capitalize ‘American’.

You never know who's joking or not anymore around here (used to be everybody).
I blame Yahoo :-)

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
Interesting comment about McGrady
Now that Redick is gone, I wouldn’t mind bringing TMac in as a scorer off the bench.
Never go with Sam Smith

How bad could it be?
Don’t sign him to a 5 year deal or anything, but 1 year at a couple mil is a worthwhile risk for a guy who used to drop 30ppg.
That made no sense
He said T-mac can still dominate, but he shouldnt play anymore than 15-20 mpg.
I think he meant TMac can still play a little, no more than 20mpg

He can dominate for 20mpg

I like Boozington trying to work hard
But I feel a guy with his injury history maybe shouldn’t look for an extreme workout plan.
And I hope that the Asik news is true. It will be a very nice surprise for him to have some impact early on.
I'm cuckoo for Kukoc!!!

getting stronger and more flexible is good for reducing injuries
as long as they’re not impact work outs

T-mac, Brewer, Miller
Can we afford it?
I can predict the future using Norm Van Lier's crystal balls.

If we sign them around 3 mil each.

Here's some more good words about Asik
From The Painted Area.
After getting to view most of Asik games this season, I came away more impressed with his defense play. Asik is the all-around package on defense, not just a shot-blocker. Splitter might have been the only finer defensive center in Europe.
Think Asik is comparable to Biedrins. Both Euros are 24, 6-11 mobile bigs. Both shoot a high pct., have no post game or face-up game. Both are excellent rebounders and shot-blockers. And both run the floor well and are bad free throw shooters. Biedrins is the better passer and a better FT shooter (relative to Asik). Biedrins is slightly more athletic but think Asik is a better overall defender than Bierdins.
The addition of Asik next to Noah gives the Bulls one of the top defensive tandems at the 5-spot in the league. The big Turk should be able to give the Bulls 15 quality mins. a game right away. Coach Thib should love what Asik brings to the table.
Well, isn't what LeBron did last night the living embodiment of The Secret, leaving millions on the table and turning himself into a hometown villain, all for the sake of winning?

Just pray he can finish at the rim, I do not want to see him shoot free throws.

Biedrins is a BETTER FT shooter?
I have never seen someone more demoralized at the free throw line than Biedrins in one of the bulls-warriors games last year. Honestly, it was sad. He knew he couldn’t make the shots, and they barely got above the rim. I’m pretty sure Stacey King was openly making fun of him.
So… that’s not a good sign.
I wonder if taking on Jose Calderon contract in a trade
would work. It would eat up 9mil of cap space.
maybe worth it if he can play SG and back up Rose.
Also shoots a mean 3
looks like he wants out and raptors seem to want a salary dump for 11-12 FA

Great news--can't wait!
Scary thought, but I’m actually expecting a great deal from our front line now, as we’re 2 deep with quality players at each spot, even without Brad Miller.

. I shite you not, he said he is a better athlete and has better test scores than Noah in almost every statistical category.
DOPENESSS!!!!

Do I get a prize for comparing him to Noah two years ago?
No, okay.
