Around SBN: NFL Owners Vote to Change Trade Deadline

"NBA front-office sources say that Bell continues to draw interest from a variety of playoff teams, such as Miami, Dallas and San Antonio. One source said signing with the Heat has essentially been ruled out because of Miami's financial constraints after signing LeBron James, Chris Bosh and Mike Miller to flank the re-signed Dwyane Wade and Udonis Haslem. But the Suns are also weighing the prospect of trying to bring Bell back.

"Bryant, though, has not abandoned his pursuit and continues to press Bell to join the Lakers, who have only $1.8 million of their mid-level exception left to offer Bell next season after signing Steve Blake."

so raja bell has been available

why has there been no discussion about him….wouldnt he be an ideal stop gap…?

I dont care what the D.N.A. Says, the Guy wearing number 12 Cannot be Kirk Hinrich, he is definetly Kurt. Kirk can actually play basketball!

I've discussed him

I think that the lack of interest is because he’ll be 34 before the season starts, and is coming off of an injury that kept him out the whole year. I don’t think you want your perimeter stopper to be in obvious physical decline.

If the Bulls miss out on every younger stopper, I wouldn’t hate him on a 1-2 year deal, but you might be looking for a replacement halfway through the year.

So…gotta say it: this sort of vindicates the Ben Gordon thing.

I'll will say that he hasn't played that many minutes

so i’d expect him to be effective until an older age than most.

Man hes 34, i knew he was in his 30s

but damn….i want the bulls to get a legit starter, one who can defend and shoot, so far the only ones availabe as free agents are either capable of one of those tasks, or if they can do both, are injured and old….I think right now the sg thats sort of the market that would be ideal is rudy, hes not a great defender, but he could do the job, is a good shooter, has great size, and enough athleticism to run with rose and fits well in the whole thibs situation.

He's not that good anymore

I’d rather have Brewer, Shannon Brown, or Roger Mason Jr.

Brad Miller is god.

Perfect stop gap guy....

Wouldn’t have to sign him to a long deal (1, maybe 2, years).

Defensive stopper (meaning he’d help with Thibodeau’s scheme, plus be a change of pace if we have Redick).

Plays SG.

Could seriously aggrevate Wade/Lebron when it comes to playoff time (and just imagine if we end up with both him and Barnes….might be enough to slow down the Big 3 in Miami, with Noah)….

I like the deal, depending on the money.
