would Omer Asik be an illogical hope for this?

I’m not familiar enough with how the summer league works.

I like the inclusion of Morris Almond and Derrick Byars. They seem good enough to hit open shots

that would be created in a LeBron + Rose offense. Plus, Byars was a feisty defender, if a little confused as to where he should be (Thibs and Adams should help, there).

2010 Offseason Motto: Get Greedy, Bulls. 1 top FA down (Thibs), 1 (or 2) to go.

Morris Almond, yes!!

I haven’t seen him play much, but I hoped the Bulls would look at him because his resume is so strong: 6’6" SG, 6’10" wingspan, 36" vert, 1st round pick in 2007, averaged 24ppg and 62 TS% over two D-League seasons averaging 38% 3pt and 10 FTA/g.

DraftExpress says he’s an okay defender and bad passer, but they say he can score with his jumpshot and by penetrating. I liked this quote:

Regardless, he clearly is an exceptionally talented shooter/scorer, and it’s hard to believe he isn’t worth a minimum contract for some team

God the Bulls are so awesome now.

See, here's your Joe Johnson.

j/k

I like that he spent time in the ACB, even if only 5 games. He’s hungry. I could see him being a Taj-type player because of his age. Not a huge ceiling, but know what you’re going to get it. Able to contribute right away.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

And Jack McClinton is a ridiculous shooter...

Averaged about 44% 3s and 90% FTs in his final three seasons in college at a high usage. And he takes over for Jeff McInnis as the guy with the whitest name in the NBA.

a little bit low release...

so it looks a little more shove than someone like… ben gordon.

why isn’t he jumping in this video? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kds7R5rJtpE&feature=related

Good look at him there

This is one of the quicker jumpshots I’ve seen and I love the release…the tiny jump is a bit interesting, but if he gets the shot off quickly it won’t matter

Apparently, he's had issues.
@RUBasketball my guess is Morris Almond was being Morris Almond and Dee Brown just had enough. TJ Cummings has all kinds of issues as well

He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.

2007- SG Morris Almond, Rice (Senior)

A definite “miss”. Not so much because he couldn’t play, but because he never got a shot before being kicked to the curb. He did shine in the NBDL though. He just didn’t seem to play enough defense for Sloan. The Jazz took him because they needed a shooter and a 2-guard, or so they thought. Ronnie Brewer exploded in his second season, making this pick more-or-less irrelevant. Almond came in as a shoot-first guy who was used to having the ball. He seemingly struggled to adapt to a “sidekick” role, though his numbers when playing with the starters weren’t too bad. A knock on his game from the start was defense… and that remains the case. The next SG to go went 2 picks later. It took a new team, but Arron Afflalo (UCLA, Junior) seems to have come around as a defensive presence of sorts. Which the Jazz needed even back then. Wasted pick.

Sounds like a kid who just has a big ego

Played well with the starters, i.e… guys he respected, but put him with reserves who he thinks he is better than, and he lets his ego get the best of him. Double T should fix that and if not, LeBron can have him do his laundry.

Not wasting anything on finding out if he’s turned the corner.

That's putting an awful lot of faith in Thibadeau

When Jerry Sloan couldn’t get him to be a team player.

Sometimes it's not about the coach

Sometimes a guy just needs time to figure out that he needs to just shut up and play basketball if he wants a shot.

Players can help too

Noah will stomp anybody not being a team player. I’m not saying he’s guaranteed to shape up, but it could happen, especially if he realizes he could get himself a ring.

I hope there are at least 2 or 3 from this squad on the regular team.

I don’t want all vets.

Gimme: Bouldin, Byers, Almond and… Plaisted?

Seems like the Bulls filled their roster with shooters

It’ll be very interesting to watch these guys in summer league because, if things go according to plan, a bunch of them will make the team. The Bulls will only be able to afford minimum salary players, and these guys seem to have more upside than a vet willing to play for the minimum.

So…gotta say it: this sort of vindicates the Ben Gordon thing.

Do they get to keep the vet minimum even if they use their cap space.

And again, let’s not forget, if they use sign-and-trades to get Bosh and James (or whomever), they get to keep their MLE.

A.J. Ogilvy!

Keep the Commodores coming this way, Bulls. I always hoped he’d develop into something more, but he never did. Hopefully he’s been working on his game some. He could be a nice offensive big man.

I hope he makes the bulls team

I like A.J.Ogilvy, he is a nice big man that can develop as a good post player for the bulls down low, which the bulls need badly
