interesting

I bet the Nets massively overpay him

Harris/Lee/Gay/Favors/Lopez

Meh.

Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!

Doubt it..

Memphis had a good season last year…and barring a max contract, I expect Memphis will match.

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

by Dionysus2.0 on Jun 24, 2010 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions

They picked up Brewer for insurance

No reason to overpay for Gay when they have Mayo/Brewer/Henry manning the wing position IMO

Brewer is restricted too...

and plays the two…

So... the Pacers just drafted for the Bulls, right, right?

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.

What would the Bulls offer to Indy?

Stage one: Fire Vinny (check)
Stage two: Hire a good coach (check)
Stage three: Draft a SG who shoots 3
Stage four: Sign a top 3 FA
Stage five: Trade Deng, Hinrich, whoever not named Rose or Noah to get another top FA

Hi, BaB.

Long time reader, first-ish time poster. From what I understand, we have no idea which free agents we’ll land, but we now have roughly 2 max contracts worth of room available? And no draft picks, right?

What a wondrous thing this NBA off-season is… for an observer more keen on baseball and football, I’m really confused.

by jsl413 on Jun 24, 2010 7:46 PM CDT reply actions

Pretty Much

we’ll still pick @ 17 but the player is going to Washington

"The Zen philosopher Basho once wrote: 'A flute with no holes is not a flute, And a doughnut with no hole is a Danish.' He was a funny guy. He also said to move the FanShots back to the right side."

by Ugh It Live! on Jun 24, 2010 7:47 PM CDT up reply actions

I got that part.

But the FA suspense is killing me.

by jsl413 on Jun 24, 2010 7:51 PM CDT up reply actions

Well...

Feel better knowing the Bulls probably already have a handshake agreement with at least one free agent (hence, the Kirk trade)…and they could have another handshake agreement with another (hence, the Deng rumor for Gortat/Pietrus).

Imagine…

Rose
Johnson
James
Gibson
Noah

Pietrus
Gortat
the other Johnson

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

by Dionysus2.0 on Jun 24, 2010 7:54 PM CDT up reply actions

forgot that...

The Bulls need to save some cap space to sign him too…

Who's that?

Sorry for being a bad fan, but I have no idea..

by jsl413 on Jun 24, 2010 7:59 PM CDT up reply actions

I feel like if they land LeBron, you have to call the summer a success.

I don’t like Joe Johnson. I don’t think they need another guard with Rose. LeBron plays like a point forward at times and combined with Deng, if they still have him, is plenty of guard for this time because Rose is really good. I don’t LOVE the idea of Rose/Johnson/James. Too much slashing and jump shooting and no real low post presence… nothing new for the Bulls. Wouldn’t everyone on this board prefer James/Lee if you had to pick someone not named Bosh and LeBron?

by jsl413 on Jun 24, 2010 7:57 PM CDT up reply actions

I would love James/Lee for one...

Perhaps a little more than Lebron/Bosh…but. I really like the game of Lee, especially with Lebron and D.Rose getting the ball to him on pick and pops and drives and kicks…and the rebounding would be sick with him and Noah…

Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.

by Dionysus2.0 on Jun 24, 2010 8:00 PM CDT up reply actions

Why is this so obvious to us and it doesn't seem the FO is considering it?

Is it safe to say that’s a pretty unlikely option? Very underheralded IMO.

by jsl413 on Jun 24, 2010 8:04 PM CDT up reply actions

That's my hope.

They aren’t going for Johnson, and they’ll end up with James and Lee. Keep Luol, see how it fits. If it doesn’t, there will be a 2-guard available.

In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).

I don't know what I was expecting, but usually I'm hyped for the draft...not today.

Just a boring draft. Last year, Bulls didn’t exactly have high picks, but there was some excitement over the guys they took, and didn’t take (Blair).

This year, even before they traded their pick, it was just very boring even thinking about the draft. Xavier Henry and Cole Aldrich, the two guys I would want on the Bulls were never going to have any chance of making it down to 17, and there hasn’t really been any trades for teams moving up in the top 10 (or switching spots in the top 10) like in past years.

If bulls do sign and trade for either of those

they should get a trade exception. for example.: If bulls sign Lebron outright, sign joe johnson to 13 mil contract, they should be able to do sign and trade with deng to get Bosh. Which is why its not a bad idea that the bulls aren’t trading deng for nothing….they could maybe get JJ, lebron, and bosh.

good point...

then sign and trade for lebron, and just sign bosh????

as people around the league been saying, Cleveland's not going to acomdte JAmes with S&T if he decides to leave.

so its going to be hard. But if Bulls to find a way to get BOSH and BRon then that would be so GREAT the BULLS will order the O’Brien trophy before the start of the season.

by BULLysh on Jun 24, 2010 9:05 PM CDT up reply actions

Depends..

on if LeBron considers just his NBA salary or if he counts his endorsements too. He made a combined $40M last year between the Cavs and his endorsements. Bosh would have a long way to go to make up that kind of difference. If Bosh making $450K more than LeBron gets LeBron in a tizzy then he has bigger problems to worry about.

But he’s not my favorite choice for second max contract. I think it’s likely he’s at bad contract stage long before the expiring thing kicks in, especially with the possibilities raised by the new CBA. Hearing he would take a 4-year deal does help, though.

I think he'll be good

Hard to tell a bit – he had to do so much for the Cowboys that I expect having better players around him will help a ton. On the other hand, with guys in that situation, you always have that great-stats-bad-team possibility. I honestly don’t know if he can’t play defense, or if he just had to carry so much of the offense they had him dial back. I wouldn’t say he’s a good creator, but I don’t think he’s as bad as some say.

He’s a really good guy, though, as far as I know. Low key. I think it’s a great mutual fit for the Spurs.

It was $70

I am attempting to hook it up to my drumkat I bought two days ago as we speak, though it’s much easier to use it with my QY-300. :P [Side note: drumkat=god]
BUT YES IT IS AMAZING. :) craigslist ftw.

Scary!
It is draft night in the NBA, and it seems the Orlando Magic are in the mood to make a deal. Rumors of New Orleans point guard Chris Paul coming to Orlando for Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson seem to be more real than the Magic are saying. Local 6 sports director David Pingalore, through his NBA sources, is confirming the deal could be completed as soon as Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith finds a third team for Hornets Center Emeka Okafor

I mean, you can get him cheap right now
Alabi measured as one of the tallest and longest players in the draft, and he showed a nice skill game and a terrific motor in drills. Some scouts are comparing him to Dikembe Mutombo. I don’t think Alabi has the same sort of rebounding and shot-blocking ability, but he does have a similar demeanor and presence on the court.
