So Rudy Gay is gonna be available
interesting

I bet the Nets massively overpay him
Harris/Lee/Gay/Favors/Lopez
Meh.
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
Doubt it..
Memphis had a good season last year…and barring a max contract, I expect Memphis will match.
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
They picked up Brewer for insurance
No reason to overpay for Gay when they have Mayo/Brewer/Henry manning the wing position IMO
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
Brewer is restricted too...
and plays the two…
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
Babbitt is still on the board
i would like to know where Whiteside will go
So... the Pacers just drafted for the Bulls, right, right?
In the past 10 years, just four team owners have not paid a luxury tax and are not on pace to pay one this year: Donald Sterling, Jerry Reinsdorf, Chris Cohen (Golden State), Bob Johnson (Charlotte).
Two owners’ teams averaged an operating income of over +$10 million per year while their teams have lost over 60% of their games: Donald Sterling and Jerry Reinsdorf.
What would the Bulls offer to Indy?
Stage one: Fire Vinny (check)
Stage two: Hire a good coach (check)
Stage three: Draft a SG who shoots 3
Stage four: Sign a top 3 FA
Stage five: Trade Deng, Hinrich, whoever not named Rose or Noah to get another top FA
Kirk Hinrich and the number 17.

Wouldn't that look pretty bad to the rest of the league to renege on the Wiz deal?

Hi, BaB.
Long time reader, first-ish time poster. From what I understand, we have no idea which free agents we’ll land, but we now have roughly 2 max contracts worth of room available? And no draft picks, right?
What a wondrous thing this NBA off-season is… for an observer more keen on baseball and football, I’m really confused.
Pretty Much
we’ll still pick @ 17 but the player is going to Washington

Well...
Feel better knowing the Bulls probably already have a handshake agreement with at least one free agent (hence, the Kirk trade)…and they could have another handshake agreement with another (hence, the Deng rumor for Gortat/Pietrus).
Imagine…
Rose
Johnson
James
Gibson
Noah
Pietrus
Gortat
the other Johnson
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
forgot that...
The Bulls need to save some cap space to sign him too…
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
I feel like if they land LeBron, you have to call the summer a success.
I don’t like Joe Johnson. I don’t think they need another guard with Rose. LeBron plays like a point forward at times and combined with Deng, if they still have him, is plenty of guard for this time because Rose is really good. I don’t LOVE the idea of Rose/Johnson/James. Too much slashing and jump shooting and no real low post presence… nothing new for the Bulls. Wouldn’t everyone on this board prefer James/Lee if you had to pick someone not named Bosh and LeBron?
I would love James/Lee for one...
Perhaps a little more than Lebron/Bosh…but. I really like the game of Lee, especially with Lebron and D.Rose getting the ball to him on pick and pops and drives and kicks…and the rebounding would be sick with him and Noah…
Thomas, Miller, Salmons, James, Pargo, Gray, MLE, and (there is no LLE thanks to the Pargo signing) will not be here with a Max Free Agent...don't get too attached.
Why is this so obvious to us and it doesn't seem the FO is considering it?
Is it safe to say that’s a pretty unlikely option? Very underheralded IMO.
That's my hope.
They aren’t going for Johnson, and they’ll end up with James and Lee. Keep Luol, see how it fits. If it doesn’t, there will be a 2-guard available.

gotta love
The look players sometimes get when they are drafted by a crap team. XH just gave us one. hehehe
shit…the Griz? ah man.
What is Memphis gonna do with Henry? Odd choice. Is Gay gone
He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.
I think you answered your own question
They traded for Ronnie Brewer last year as well. Gay is gone IMO.

Gotta love
how the Kings had #4 and #5 overall the last 2 years, and the best players in each draft slipped to them. It’s fucking hysterical that David Kahhhhhhhnnnnnnnn drafted Wesley Johnson over DeMarcus Cousins. Disastrous.
The Kings are sweet. Definitely one of the reasons I’ll be getting League Pass next year.

I don't know what I was expecting, but usually I'm hyped for the draft...not today.
Just a boring draft. Last year, Bulls didn’t exactly have high picks, but there was some excitement over the guys they took, and didn’t take (Blair).
This year, even before they traded their pick, it was just very boring even thinking about the draft. Xavier Henry and Cole Aldrich, the two guys I would want on the Bulls were never going to have any chance of making it down to 17, and there hasn’t really been any trades for teams moving up in the top 10 (or switching spots in the top 10) like in past years.

If bulls do sign and trade for either of those
they should get a trade exception. for example.: If bulls sign Lebron outright, sign joe johnson to 13 mil contract, they should be able to do sign and trade with deng to get Bosh. Which is why its not a bad idea that the bulls aren’t trading deng for nothing….they could maybe get JJ, lebron, and bosh.
would Bron be able to stomach the fact that BOSH will be earnng more money than him???..i don't think so..
as people around the league been saying, Cleveland's not going to acomdte JAmes with S&T if he decides to leave.
so its going to be hard. But if Bulls to find a way to get BOSH and BRon then that would be so GREAT the BULLS will order the O’Brien trophy before the start of the season.
Depends..
on if LeBron considers just his NBA salary or if he counts his endorsements too. He made a combined $40M last year between the Cavs and his endorsements. Bosh would have a long way to go to make up that kind of difference. If Bosh making $450K more than LeBron gets LeBron in a tizzy then he has bigger problems to worry about.
Bron and Lee

Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!

I know we got a shot at two FAs but still….we should get something in return now…fuck a future second rounder. We need to fill out our squad….they better not fuck things up.
because a 1st rounder would cost us cap space
We don’t have room either, we had 2 last year JJ and Taj

The Bulls freed up 10 million dollars!
They have plenty of bench players. They don’t need a rookie bench player.
first round picks are guaranteed
it would take up cap space…i think they shoulda got a future first rounder but owell….must not have been a lot of trade value for hinrich.
Its over!! Lets get Lebron!!
"You never got me down, Ray. Ya hear me? Never got me down."

who would you rather have,
Bosh or Lee + someone like Ray Allen
I wonder what Kirk is doing right now
Looking at DC homes on the internet?
Watching the NBA draft?
Napping on his gold bed?
Cooking hot dogs on the grill at Vinny’s house?
"Michael Redd's owed 18.3 million next year. He can either opt out like an idiot or opt in like a douche bag." - NittanyCub
um no
He will telecommute between Wiz games to be at Bulls practice to mentor our young core.
Once a Captain, Always a Captain

So Joe Johnson it looks like Joe Johnson is a sure thing according to McGraw
By removing Hinrich’s $9 million salary from the payroll, the Bulls’ game plan is to combine Atlanta’s all-star shooting guard Joe Johnson with either LeBron James or Chris Bosh. If the Bulls sign James, they’ll have to move Luol Deng somewhere.
Love Ellis with Rose
OH MY GOD

that would be the worst possible fit ever for rose
what are you talking about?
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!

or
because they didnt want to pay gordon and salmons might have no opted out leaving the bulls without the opportunity to get lebron?!?!?
Rose would have developed anyways.

i would rather have luol than joe johnson at $15mil

Thanks...and yeah, it's pretty clear we're signing him
but I’d rather have him than Kurt or Gordon and if we get LeBron James I’m totally down
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
Rose and LeBron can tell JJ to STFU and stand behind the three point line all game to shoot threes
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
Because I was serious.
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
Rose seems like he'd be happy as a distributor.
Man, I want to see Rose score though, it looks like we could see less of that next season.
Bosh or Bust

This idea that Johnson is going to fall off the planet in the final years of his contract is borderline ridic.
Is he gonna slip? Yes
Can we move him to SF when he’s older? Yes.
Will he be a good expiring contract? Yes
"Michael Redd's owed 18.3 million next year. He can either opt out like an idiot or opt in like a douche bag." - NittanyCub
I guess the upside is that a lineup of...
Rose-JJ-Deng-Taj-Noah would probably look pretty attractive to lure James or Bosh, one of which is the big prize anyway.
Absolutely
Most teams that win it all, have guys that have played 9,10,11 years in the league. So what if JJ is our old guy? As long as we have Rose, and Lebron
"Michael Redd's owed 18.3 million next year. He can either opt out like an idiot or opt in like a douche bag." - NittanyCub
a minor consolation
I’d rather see him knocking down wide open 3’s and finishing on the break from Rose, and D-ing up Wade and Kobe,
"Michael Redd's owed 18.3 million next year. He can either opt out like an idiot or opt in like a douche bag." - NittanyCub
Than no one, sure.
But he’s not my favorite choice for second max contract. I think it’s likely he’s at bad contract stage long before the expiring thing kicks in, especially with the possibilities raised by the new CBA. Hearing he would take a 4-year deal does help, though.
Maybe this is a bit ridiculous
But if Joe Johnson is a sure thing, maybe Bosh is the best route to go.
Bosh can still feel like “The man” and everyone plays there roles perfectly
Rose
Johnson
Deng
Bosh
Noah
I'd still rather have the 2-time MVP and best player in the world, regardless of "fit" and "roles"
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
It just hurts cause they shouldn't jump on JJ right away
They could probably have him later on regardless.
Their first 2 options should be Bosh and LeBron. If one doesn’t work out, then yeah . . got for JJ
Then again, for all we know,
through all indications Bosh might have said he’s going to Miami. We don’t know WTF goes on behind the scenes.
Let's sign LeBron and dance our way to the NBA championship. It'll be so crazy!
It would be tough
I think to get any team in the NBA to agree on a sign and trade that allowed the Bulls to form that lineup

Why would you risk
losing out on LeBron, Bosh, Lee, Stoudemire or Boozer for Johnson, who is inferior to all of the above and will provide the worse value for the dollar.
by NerdVernacular on Jun 24, 2010 9:33 PM CDT up reply actions
here's my idea and also sam smith's idea
sign joe johnson to 13 mil back loaded contract, then sign bosh, then perf sign trade getting bron and getting rid of deng/james johnson
hahahahahaha wendy!

yes he's very interesting. i wonder how he will run the court in the nba.
what’s your take on anderson? i guess the specific criticisms are shot “creating” and defense.
The name of the team is ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS - "I tried to convince them that what they were doing was an aberration, an imbecility, a stupidity without name"
I think he'll be good
Hard to tell a bit – he had to do so much for the Cowboys that I expect having better players around him will help a ton. On the other hand, with guys in that situation, you always have that great-stats-bad-team possibility. I honestly don’t know if he can’t play defense, or if he just had to carry so much of the offense they had him dial back. I wouldn’t say he’s a good creator, but I don’t think he’s as bad as some say.
He’s a really good guy, though, as far as I know. Low key. I think it’s a great mutual fit for the Spurs.
cool - thx!
sounds like you don’t expect him to make it to michael redd all-stardom. but a chance.

I don't know
I’m not sure he’ll have the high point of Redd’s career, but looking back on it it’s not all that impressive. (Well, it is for being a 2-rounder, but not necessarily overall because of the injuries). But no, I don’t necessarily expect he’ll be an all-star.
how about jerome jordan? did you see much of him?

Orton got drafted by the Magic in the first round

I skipped the last ten picks of the draft to get a SP-202
go samplers.
Also, the knicks confuse me.
Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!
It was $70
I am attempting to hook it up to my drumkat I bought two days ago as we speak, though it’s much easier to use it with my QY-300. :P [Side note: drumkat=god]
BUT YES IT IS AMAZING. :) craigslist ftw.
Go Rockets/Nets[CDR]/Bucks[Jennings]!
knick fans are just straight up embarassing.

Scary!
It is draft night in the NBA, and it seems the Orlando Magic are in the mood to make a deal. Rumors of New Orleans point guard Chris Paul coming to Orlando for Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson seem to be more real than the Magic are saying. Local 6 sports director David Pingalore, through his NBA sources, is confirming the deal could be completed as soon as Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith finds a third team for Hornets Center Emeka Okafor
not a chance that happens

Paul's knee injury might be worse than we know ?
Jameer Nelson is no slouch either.

I mean, you can get him cheap right now
Alabi measured as one of the tallest and longest players in the draft, and he showed a nice skill game and a terrific motor in drills. Some scouts are comparing him to Dikembe Mutombo. I don’t think Alabi has the same sort of rebounding and shot-blocking ability, but he does have a similar demeanor and presence on the court.
