Not much new info in here, but at around the 8 minute mark KC said something to the effect of: "My feeling is the Bulls are higher on Joe Johnson than Chris Bosh.". I didn't hear anything after that because I was too busy cleaning up vomit.

True or false?

adding jj would present a more attractive team for Lebron?

The answer would have to be true

So would signing any other free agent...

He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.

more attractive than what?

than the current team? than keeping Deng? than having Bosh instead?

i do remember the story that LBJ and Joe Johnson were pretty tight, and the rumor that JJ was the best sidekick (not sure if that was from a Lebron source or what)

he'd still be a 3rd option

why not get David Lee instead? a guy that would make our rebounding awesome, scores in the paint, and keeps Taj on the bench rather than the starting PF.

it’s just a stupid way to spend your money. you can find SGs to defend and knock down 3’s. the team would be more dangerous with a guy like Lee.

or maybe the Bulls have learned they aren’t getting LeBron, and now it’s JJ and one of the others.

Nick Friedell on ESPN1000

said that he thinks Bosh’s first choice would be Miami hence the meeting with Wade. Oh and that he doesn’t see Deng getting traded at all. Hinrich is more likely on the move. But we’ll see.

by SoulEater7 on Jun 24, 2010 11:42 AM CDT reply actions

Hopefully what the Bulls are thinking is that

JJ would come at a cheaper price than Bosh. Knowing if they go after Lebron in the next couple of years they will have to resign Noah and Rose.

why would that be a hope?

hope to get the worse player because he costs less?

I'm Hopeful that the Bulls are basing this on money and not that

they actually believe JJ is a better player.

Fuck this.

I’m done. No doubt in my mind they’ll be getting johnson. Thing is, I would have MUCH rather them never started the “2010 plan”. Really? They spent all that time clearing cap space to make room for Joe Johnson? Rediculous. 16 mil per year, 5 or 6 years. Bye-bye Rose in 2011. I would rather them not sign a single player than sign the disater that is Joe Johnson. Unfortunately I already put the deposit down on next year’s season tickets. But after one year of this albatross of a team, I’m done.

You know what? I’d put money on the mighty Org. going for Joe Johnson because he could come cheaper than the good players, and because he is easier to get.

I think d.rose would leave for the same reason lebron is leaving the cavs

non-championship contender handicapped by bad contracts of slightly above average players and former borderline all-stars

I feel you. But if LEBRON wants JJ then i'm all for it,

If JJ turns out to be the Bulls ONLY free agent pickup then i’m moving to Miami.

idk about moving to miami, but if we sign JJ and not Lebron I'll be severely disappointed and mad at gar/pax.

But if they sign JJ first and then I spend a week or two in disgust, and then Lebron signs, I’ll be like
“yay Gar/Pax.”

I feel like Bosh already knows he’s going to Miami, and is just in on it with Dwade trying to convince Lebron to go there, too – hence the Heat clearing the capspace they have.

ofcourse, Bosh could be saying “let’s wait on Lebron” because he wants Dwade to think that and is just going to tag along wherever Lebron goes.

Or, he could just good with the press.

either way I wish it was July 1st.
And by July 1st, I mean July 8th.

I'm starting to get that "Bosh to Miami" feeling also

I’m all for signing Joe Johnson, IF it gets us Lebron, but I still wouldn’t understand it. Why would you want 3 of your primary offensive options to be wings? Lebron seems pretty intelligent, he has to know this. Also, didn’t Thibs just say he wants to play from the inside out?

He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.

by Juiceboxjerry on Jun 24, 2010 11:58 AM CDT up reply actions

Thank you!!

JJ is a GREAT player! But he is NOT worth the max contract AND we need an offensive big man to compliment Noahs’ defense.

Everyone keeps mentioning he wowed GarPax with plans for a "drive and kick" scheme

That’s one way to play “inside-out”

It will be found an unjust and unwise jealousy to deprive a man of his natural liberty upon the supposition he may abuse it.

I dont see how everyone is so down on Joe Johnson

He is an all-star that would fit perfect into Thibs scheme. He can play defense, is a good 3 point shooter, and would fit well with Lebron. Think of it this way…. A team with lebron would be better with a good SG vs a good PF. Lebron has the ball in his hands so much that the offense would be drive and kick. I do see it important to get a solid PF but what about this. What if both DEng and hinrich are traded for cap space. Then Sign Joe Johnson (13-14mil), Sign Lebron, Sign David Lee (12 mil).

by K_yle33 on Jun 24, 2010 11:51 AM CDT reply actions

even if we sign Johnson and NOT lebron

and we are able to sign Amare wouldnt this lineup still be awesome

ROSE, Johnson, Deng, Amare, Noah.

You guys are getting greedy with this lebron thing. What if we DONT sign johnson, Lebron goes to NY, and we dont get ANYONE. then i bet all you would have wanted johnson for 13-14 mil.

KC is basically just a Bulls employee

unfortunately that also makes him the person I trust the most in all of this. If KC said he “feels” like the Bulls are higher on Joe Johnson, that’s probably because the day before Gar told him “I’m higher on Joe Johnson”. Anything he says is basically repeating something the org told him. The guy is petrified of having his own opinion, cause god forbid it should conflict with what the org is thinking.

He may not be married, but he's got plenty of Thibo-hoes.

exactly. And this is why only kc and sam masturbate to joe johnson

and also why about a month ago I bet my buddy $50 that we’d be getting joe johnson and another $25 that we’d be getting lebron.

fuck, perpetually losing in the playoffs to lebron is going to sting

If JJ is the Bull big off season move

then this hole thing has been a disaster, a 30 plus year old who best day’s are CLEARLY behind him. At this point JJ is a SF with is speed.

by Winston23 on Jun 24, 2010 1:34 PM CDT reply actions

Joe Johnson is about to turn 29

Which means he’s 28 right now, which is a far cry from “30 plus”

He’s the same speed he’s always been. I assume you got your info about his decline from the same place you got his age.

He had the second highest PER of his career last year, so his best days are not clearly behind him. His PERs for the last 3 years:

07-08 17.3
08-09 18.2
09-10 19.3

Clearly JJ is not the top free agent, but people need to stop making shit up just to put him down. In a year where Lebron/Bosh/Wade weren’t available, people would be ecstatic about the prospects of getting him. Now he’s a disaster even though he had a higher PER than anyone on our team last year (Rose 18.6) and also plays above average defense.

by runningman on Jun 24, 2010 2:14 PM CDT up reply actions   1 recs

Right on

He’s certainly a very good player right now. The issue is that 2 years from now, he probably won’t be and we’ll be on the hook for 3 more years of his deal. Now, if his asking price falls and we manage to get him on a 4-year deal instead of a 5-year deal, he’s much more enticing. That applies to Boozer too.

Brad Miller is god.

by Poloplaya14 on Jun 24, 2010 2:32 PM CDT up reply actions

I know he's going to decline

but i’m now a lot more skeptical about when that’s going to happen and how sharp the decline will be. I’ve been doing a lot of digging into that and was considering doing a fanpost on it. People are so sure that Joe Johnson absolutely stinks now, that I think an argument the other way may be in order.

In particular, I looked more into the Michael Finley case which did the most to scare me in YaoPau’s now legendary post. Two things that stood out to me.

- Finley peaked at age 26 where JJ is still improving his numbers through age 29.
- The decline in Finley’s PER was almost solely due to taking less shots. This was caused the first year by Steve Nash leaving and being replaced by Jason Terry and Devin Harris, and in subsequent years by going to San Antonio and being less of a focus point and getting a lot less minutes. There’s no evidence that his skills suddenly eroded, and his shooting touch certainly did not.

by runningman on Jun 24, 2010 3:10 PM CDT up reply actions

lets stop freakin out....

it’s obvious jj is not the big bulls move…. LeBron is who they want. JJ would just be a nice addition.

God you guys are freakin out over nothing

I was off on JJ's age

but I did say " if he is the big of season move" Johnson will be 29 next week and if the Bulls sign him to a 4 year deal thats a w in for the Bulls. The Bulls still would need move to contend for a title. Now add LeBron or Bosh with Johnson… wow
